SUPER GOLD MEDALLION

After 2 1/2 year here I finally earned the final SUPER GOLD MEDALLION for the number of Sparkpoints I've earned. I have met so many wonderful people here and have changed so many bad habits.

It still amazes me how 1 little SPARKPOINT can mean so much. Each one of those points represents something that has helped me achieve a whole string of goals, from a fantastic weight loss to a savings account where bills used to be. I think I've taken for granted the wonderful support I've received here. I know my lifestyle has improved. This site has been AMAZING.

The number of points you can earn in one day has increased so much. When I first started, if you could get around 25/30 it was a good day now 90/100 is more common. I think some of the newer points are for things we should be doing already anyway. I'm following SPARKPEOPLE for the things it's done for me and not just the points - maybe thats why it's taken me 2 1/2 years to earn the top Medallion.

Summer "BREAK"

With the beginning of summer "break" for the kids, I have to remember it's no "break" for me.

The kids will change my schedule completely. No more leisurely meals with the toddlers. It'll be chaos as the school age day care kids will announce that today they don't like carrots or catsup. Our walks will turn into backyard activities and I'll have to get my walking in during the evenings. No more quiet rest times. The house will be on the go constantly.

My summer "break" will begin with the kids testing me about the rules. I'll have to re-explain why I don't allow the chairs on the tables or scissors in to toy area. It's hard to not just turn on the TV but the kids get used to it.

My summer "BREAK" has to include the same good choices I've been making. I have to continue with the cardio, It might be a summer "break" for the kids but it's just a normal day for me.

  


PERSONAL CHALLENGE.

This weekend will be a personal challenge for me. I leave for a camping trip Friday night thru Sunday. High 50's during the day high 30s at night. That's not the challenge. It involves spending the majority of the time hiking up and down hills, along some dirt trails and other areas no trails at all.

This will be a geocaching trip at Mark Twain Lake where there will be 60 new caches hidden for us to find. This will be my first large caching event. I'm excited.

The challenge will be to see if I can maintain enough energy to continue throughout the day. I WILL SUCCEED.

    It was amazing. I cross country hikes all day Saturday and for 7 hours on Sunday. This was through deep ravines and back up the other side. Had to slow down because the kids were getting tired.

Another winter weekend planned

Its 4 degrees outside and snowing again. I just got back inside after a quick 2 mile walk. Schools are releasing early all around us.

We're scheduled to go to a cub scout day camp this weekend. Last year for the same day camp it sleeted the entire time and we still stayed out. We'll be snowshoeing, sledding, panning for gold and possible some ice fishing. My son is so excited about going but he's also remember the summer camp and not the winter one. Once we get there the entire area is hilly so we do get in a lot of cardio. The worse part is the 45 minute drive up - almost entire hills - even a little ice is scary.

As I was packing up for this I remembered that I didn't even go 2 years ago. The hiking would have killed me. Then I remembered I just passed a major anniversary here and didn't even realize it.

I joined on Jan 31, 2006. I'm not were I hoped to be right now but am thrilled to be here and have accepted that I shouldn't lose to much more anyway. (doctors instructions).

    You are doing great! :) Isn't it wonderful to reflect on how far we've come instead of where we wish we were? You have accomplished a lot and come far in improving your health, and now you are able to do things you weren't able to do before. :) BRAVO!

Almost skipped cardio

Yesterday was one of those days. Church, Running kids every direction, taking my Mom to dinner. little time for cardio. Started a WATP tape and an argument broke out with the kids. They both wanted to watch different shows on TV. Shut off my tape and had one use my TV. I went off to do strength training - the phone rings and my Mom wants to talk. Off the phone and my TV's not being used so back to the WATP tape when another argument about who had what chair first.

ALL TV'S OFF- coats on everyone and I head everyone out the door to go geocaching (using a GPS to find hidden treasures). Temperature is 12F and freezing but the closest hidden cache is a 1 mile walk. Kids begin complaining but I tell them they just have to walk faster to stay warm. A beautiful walk on a nearby island. We saw lot of geese, gulls and Bald Eagles. The kids ended up racing back and forth to see various things, slipping on the ice and throwing snowballs.

We completed 1 mile in and 1 mile back. I GOT MY CARDIO and one of them said it would have been easier to have just done the WATP tape with me.

I WIN - I got my cardio in and the kids forgot they were mad at each other.

    WOW! WAY TO GO!!! I've always been somewhat intrigued by the geocaching thing -- how much would a GPS cost that is good enough to do that with anyway?
