Call from a future self

Thursday, July 25, 2013

Spark Coach suggested imagining yourself 10 years in the future and asked what that future self would say to my present self.

10 years from now I will be 56. I envision a strong healthy woman who is self-assured and isn't afraid of doing physically challenging things. If she was to call today she might tell me to get the blood sugar under control so I get to age 56. She might say, wear your carpel tunnel brace more often so you can do art work with your 56 year old hands. She would say, stop making excuses. The time for excuses has come and gone and now it is time to get work done. She might say, don't be afraid of reaching beyond your comfort level and trying more physical activities. Just make a little extra effort each day.

Wow, I guess maybe I should talk to my 60 year old self and have this discussion. Thank you for sharing. Your 56 year old self will appreciate what your 46 year old self is doing for it now. emoticon

Awesome. I really can't think of myself 10 years from now, I can barely get through to next week! You, on the other hand, are an inspiration!!

early morning exercise - eeeek!

Thursday, December 06, 2012

I think I will need to start getting up earlier in the morning to do a workout. Evenings are filled with excuses (valid and invalid). Now I just have to find a way to master the snooze button.

Can you fit exercise into the middle of your day? Walk at lunch or something? (I'm SO not a morning person!)

Chugging along

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

I'm tracking and finding ways to fit exercise into most days. The scale isn't reflecting that but I have found the thought of exercise less overwhelming. I find myself watching infomercials on exercise programs (P90x and Insanity). Instead of changing the channel right away, I start to wonder if I could survive one of those workouts.

It has been a couple of years since I've tried Sparkpeople. I'm trying to re-commit. I doubt I'll have anything earth shattering to put in a blog post but I'm going to try to be more active in the Sparkpeople Community.

my sister lost 105 pounds walking 15000 steps a day at age 63.

i lost 44 pounds by giving up grain and sugar products at age 60.

i use a salad plate as a dinner plate.

i use a childs for and spoon so i eat slower. it takes your brain 20 minutes to tell your stomach your full.

New Gym New Resolve

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Wow. It's been a while since I've written an entry.

Sometimes you need something new to get you excited about the process. My husband and I joined a new gym. It's sort of wild. It's very hi-tech. That appeals to my inner geek. It's called Koko Fit Club.

I went for my intro workout today. You get a little flash drive with your personalized workout programmed onto it. You plug it into a Smart Trainer (an all-in-one circuit machine) and a small screen guides you through the workout. Sort of like the Wii with a real circuit machine. Just like the Wii you get a little moving guide box you are supposed to stay within. You earn points based on how well you keep up with the pace the machine sets.

It was very fun. Even my husband had a good time. Hopefully this will keep us motivated for a while.

It worked out pretty well until I had a car accident and busted up my knees. What I need then is a pool to help with physical therapy. I had to drop Kokos and join the YMCA instead.
