Jumping the gun

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Jumping the gun does apply to me. I get hasty and often mess up with what I am trying to accomplish by expecting results or outcomes too fast. Like my weight loss this week. I weighed in too earlier, didn't wait until WW today and therefore when the scale didn't show the numbers I had expected on Monday I got very down on myself. But when I hopped on the WW scales this morning, I had lost a decent amount of weight. So I have got to watch getting impatience for results and taking it slow and easy. Have a good day and I hope your Spark dreams are good ones and come true for you.

I can't believe it and I give up

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Just lost .6 from the 14 mile up and down the mountains hike. What a bummer. Makes you want to quit. I won't say anymore so I won't discourage anyone. I WON't I refuse to give up.

Yesterday I 'gained' 4 pounds...Did I really? No. It's a false weight, because most days I'm doing what I should: eating healthy and getting exercise and fluids. I know that sometimes a lot of exercise can temporarily make the scale lie to me. Also, salt, etc etc changes things.
But I am on a journey, on a trail, and my journey as well as yours leads us to a life of energy and strength.
I know you will never give up and neither will I. emoticon

    Here are your goals:
1. Stay with calorie range of 1200 to 1550.
2. Exercise at least 5 days per week.
3. Learn to run and backpack, two things I find hard to do.
4. Stay in the present.
Lose 20 pounds. You have lost 8.
There are no quick answers. If you stick to the others. Eat good food and drink water you will make the last one.
You can do this.
Stay in the present. Think of how much you enjoyed the scenary on the hike and being outside.
Keep sparking.

I totally understand your frustration with the scale, but we both have to hang in there. It will pay off eventually. At least our health will be better!
Hugs,
Angela

You have to quit weighing so often. It is a complete diet killer! Remember, you may have more water in your body, more muscle mass etc. I know where you are in your head and it isn't good. How do you feel physically? Are your clothes getting looser? Do you have more energy? Put it all in perspective. It's a number. That is all it is. Results take time and nothing happens overnight (even though the weight gain seems like it may have). Hang tough! emoticon

YESTERDAYS 14

Sunday, October 16, 2011

14 miles hiked yesterday. Up and down, I mean up and down. My calves are so sore and I thought I was in good shape. Had lost 2 lbs so I have to maintain that until Weight in day on Wednesday. I know I can do it. Getting back to the hike, we saw some really, really beautiful scenery. There were two mountains called the humps that was absolutely amazing. It was bare balds with little or no trees on them. You could see for miles. It sure was windy tho. The kind of wind that will knock you down. I straggered around some going up the mountain. I really feel good about having accomplished this. It's my furtherest hike yet. So now I have hike at least 100+ miles of the Appalachian Trail. I have some beautiful memories to prove it. Memories are something you don't lose unless you lose some mental function.
That's enough for me, now tell me about your Spark Weekend. Hope you had fun!

I again am so impressed with your hiking. Way to Go!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday we stayed home all day as we had some work done on the driveway - needed a drain to move the water away from the cabin. So I rode my bike on the deck for 45 minutes and painted an accent wall in the loving room. I also made a big pot of chili. A good productive day

Today we went down to a local heritage festival in the little town of Talking Rock. Lots of antiques - way over priced for me. I am in the market for a small desk for the grand but I want it in Florida so good thing I didn't find one that would work.

A few of us, around 6, is going hiking today from work. We have to take 4 hrs vacation time but we need to get out in the fresh air and have some exercise. It's rainy but the forecast calls for clearing around the time we are to start. Here's to healthy exercise today.
