Confused

Thursday, August 15, 2013

So I keep bouncing between 235 and 230 pounds. I try not to sabotage myself, but sometimes this happens. Yesterday I noticed that the shorts I was wearing seemed to be falling too low past my waist and near my hips. Today I noticed the same thing with the Capri's I had on. So I had my husband help me measure things like arms, waist, etc. Now most of these measurements are from June 2009. In the upper arm I have gone from 19.5 to today at 16.25, Waist from 46.5 to 45.25. hips from 54.5 to 52, and thigh from 28 to 26. I know muscle weighs more than fat, but I don't think I have worked out enough to build muscle mass. Does anyone have any ideas?

it is not the intensity of the workout but the consistency that builds muscle.

Muscle does not weigh more than fat -- 1 lbs of muscle weighs the same as 1 lbs of fat. Muscle takes up slightly less space than fat.

I mean, if you're losing inches and your clothes are fitting differently...that's a good thing, right? Do you not think you should have lost inches because you don't feel you've worked out enough to increase muscle mass? I'm also confused.

Which Way to Go

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

I have figured out that I need to work on my eating as well as my exercising. I was at 227 and then started gaining weight. I got up to 238, but with the right attitude I have now gotten back down to 234. I hope I don't get off track again.

Exercise

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

I was discouraged from spending gas money to walk at the church. I had been up to 3 miles per session and was walking at least three times per week. I did other things at home. Spring came and so did my allergies. This kept me from walking outside because I would get sick if I breathed too much pollen. I recently was uptown and stopped at one of the churches to walk. I couldn't walk even one mile.

These are excuses. The reality is that I need to walk more. Since the outside is not possible for me at this time, I need to walk more inside. Constantly walking is my goal. At least three 10 minutes walking sessions per day.

I need to get into shape and active again. It is the only thing that will help me lose weight.

Steps

Friday, March 02, 2012

I know that I should be walking 10,000 steps or more per day. That being said, I changed my daily step target to 6,000 steps starting today. I have already achieved my 6,000 steps today and anticipate that I will have over 10,000 today. Little by little I am reaching my goal.

Way to go! Sometimes I dance & prance around the house to get my steps in. Of course I do this when no one is home-lol.

More Success

Friday, February 17, 2012

I went back to my doctor today and he changed my medicine, but while there I got a great surprise. It has only been a week, but I have lost another pound, by their scale. This is what I want to do is lose 1 to2 pounds per week. I am probably going to add a small workout that includes weights and targets my arms. Not necessarily to lose weight in my arms, which I know you can't target a specific area, but to tone my arms a little and build more muscle so I can help my husband with the water part of feeding the chickens. My steps this week haven't been great, but it is getting the job done. Wish me luck.
