51 days ago I made the first steps towards healthy living. I've taken the first steps many, many MANY times. This time I was ready, determined. This time I was doing it for ME. Doing it to get healthy. Each year I've seen my body, my health, deteriorate. The longer I waited to do what I knew needed to be done, the worse my health would be.
When I came back to SP I was welcomed by old dear friends and teams. My BL White Tigers sent me a message, welcoming me back and inviting me to be an honorary member of their team.
My weight, cardio and ST didn't count towards their numbers but they knew I needed the support. And, Thankfully, they are an amazingly supportive team!
51 days ago I started. At that time I wasn't drinking ANY water. I wasn't doing ANY physical exercising. And I wasn't eating healthy (mostly junk, fat and sugary food).
I've done almost a complete 180. Now I drink at least 72oz of water, exercise a minimum of 45 min 6 days a week and eat yummy nutritious meals.
When I started I walked in place in front of the TV for 10min. I'd try to do it two or three times a day. When I started on the treadmill I couldn't go faster than 2.8 mph. When I started back at the gym, 3 weeks later, I couldn't do more than 10 minutes on the elliptical at a level 1.
Now I can go on the treadmill for 60min at an incline of 4 and a speed of 3.3 and bursts of jogs at 3.6. On the elliptical I've upped the level to 2 and can go for 30min!
51 days ago I weighed 317, today I weigh 288.6 (down 28.4)
51 days ago I wore a 26/28, today I'm in a 24 jean
51 days ago I had NO engergy, wanted naps. Today I wake up at 4:35 (most mornings) and have so much energy people actually comment on it.
51 days ago I couldn't look at myself in the mirror, Today I'm thrilled to stare at myself, proud of what I've accomplished and the little small changes I can see.
I'm excited to start the Spring Challenge, the full 10 weeks! I can't wait to see what new changes will take place during that time.

A week or so ago I changed the background on my Spark page from a plain royal blue to a picture collage of my goals:
I printed off 3 of them. One is hanging on my fridge, one on my bathroom mirror (along with the dry erase messages to myself) and one is next to my bed.
There are many goals, small and large, that will help me with my journey. To stay successful this time around I HAVE TO take this one minute, one hour, one day at a time. But before any journey can truly be taken you have to know where you're going before you take that first step.
On my collage I have my daily reminders, water, fruits, veggies, cardio and ST. Included in my daily is weiging in. This might not help everyone but for me the numbers are motivating. If they're going down they inspire me to keep doing what I'm doing. If the numbers are going up it's a reminder to stay focused on my plans and my goals.
I have a virtual before and after ME. This isn't as vital for me because there are SO MANY before and after success stories here on SP, I use those photos as inspiration!
I have some goals for along the way. A big one is the Sprint Tri in July. Another is the word 5K. My goal is to sign up for several this year, maybe trying an 8K or 10 k by the end of the year. Stay tuned for info when I actually sign up! (Now it's out there I have to do it)
And at the bottom of my vision collage are my weight goals. I felt I was conservative with them, with doable possibilities. Doable ONLY if I stick with my plan. What is exciting to me is my first goal weight of 285 before my trip at the end of March. Today, February 21st, I am already at 289.2.
Staying focused will get me that goal plus the ability to surpass it, putting me further on this journey than planned.
I'm thrilled with my accomplishments. Very proud of my determination! And VERY BLESSED to have so many SPARK friends leading the way. There have been many times I feel the pull from in front, someone grabbing my hand saying come on you can do this, let me show you the way. And many more times I feel the push from behind, people cheering me on and telling me to get myself going again.

One of my spark teams is doing a Blackjack challenge, first person to walk 21 miles wins!
This challenge came at the right time because I was out of my groove. For 11 days I had lost and gained the exact same pounds. Thursday morning, the beginning of this challenge, I was determined to get some miles in. Without that challenge I don't think I would have gotten a workout in that day.
I kicked it! I found every spare moment to workout, throwing in a mile here and a mile there. With bigger blocks of time I went to the gym and during my daughter's lacrosse practice I strapped on my pedometer, raincoat and hat (it was sprinkling) and walked throughout the unknown neighborhood.
Sunday is my rest day. No workouts means no miles added. That's fine because my body LOVES a rest day!
This morning, being President's day, my kids have no school. I only had 3.25 miles left to blackjack. I was determined to crank that out in one hour. I woke up early to get it done before my kiddos woke up. For my workout today I did intervals. It was HARD!
I was excited when I saw my 5k time get beaten! Old time, 3 weeks ago, was 56:59. Time today 55:38. Cut it by 1:21 minutes! I'm hoping by TRI time in July that I can be jogging the whole thing!
In 60 minutes I was able to get in 3.36 miles! BLACKJACK
The best part of it is I broke my plateau and have lost 4.8 lbs since Thursday morning!
Now I'll be back to my normal workout routine but it's great to know when a plateau strikes again I need to CRANK UP the cardio for a few days!

Today is day 47 and I'm officially down 25lbs! I think kicking the cardio yesterday helped me drop the pounds that wouldn't leave for over the past week. Plus eating CLEAN!
NSV for today...I am STRONGER!!! I did my Walk Away the Pounds DVD and could do everything, arm motions and all, without doing any modifications! I also upped the elliptical to a level 2 and mainained the strides in the high 150s - 160s!
