Today I decided to process the apples we havested this fall from our back yard.
I bought a steamer and have used it to make V-10 but this was my first try with juice.
I've made one batch. After a little research I found this vidio that shows how to make apple sauce also from the same batch so I will try that next. I just have to peel the apples.
I really like this stainless steel juice extractor.
Have a great day,
We joined forces here at work tonight to make some Christmas wreaths for the troops.
One person brought in the princess pine. Another the wire and hoops.
Two others did the actual wreath making. We managed to get 5 wreaths done. Tomorrow we will decorate them with pine cones, rose hips and a few ribbons. Keeping it as natural as we can.
Our plan is to ship them a week into December. We hope this will give them a bit of Christmas Spirit while so many miles away from home.
I sure appreciate my co-workers givng up their break time for such a good cause.
Thanks to everyone who supports our troops. Every little bit is so appreciate by them.
Last Monday I boxed up 20 boxes of items donated from our local 4 H group. My water aerobics group and my co-workers.
We sent them to three different camps in Afghanistan.
It feels good to make a difference.

This fall I dug up four tomato plants that had self started in the garden.
I put them in pots and two weeks ago put them in my Earth Box.
I am proud to announce they are doing well and actually have blossom's.
I'll keep you posted.
So on Sunday I went out in the snow and picked the last of my kale.
How I so hated the thought of not being able to go out to the garden much longer and pick our dinner. The kale patch gave it's all this gardening season and I had to really work at getting enough Kale for my last batch of hummus.
But I did get a fry pans worth. (a quick steam brings out the best of the flavor) Then it's into the food processor to get happy with the rest of the ingredients.
On Sunday I also tried a recipe much like German potato pancakes. Except I used roasted squash instead of potatoes.
They turned out pretty well. But the true shocker was tonight while at work. I had some of my kale hummus and I topped the squash cake with that. WOW...zing a zong...was that a great mix of flavors. I'm going to do that again.
Hope you have a great week.
