My Journey

Friday, February 11, 2011

I've been on this journey of life change since June of 2009 I've lost over 60 lbs. and I have lots and lots of hours of exercise I was doing so good until November of 2010 that's when I started to eat everything I could get my hands on Haha! and stopped tracking my food I still do alot of exercise, walking and my favorite jogging But my food intake is really bad I'm not eating the way I should I'm not making good choices and I've hit a wall I'm not losing any weight I go from 178 to 173 back and forth and I'm really getting tired of it all the hours I put in to exercise for nothing and because I cant seem to get back to tracking my food and making the right choices but I know one thing if it were not for all the support here on Sparks I not be moving forward still I would have thrown the towel in already so thanks to all my Sparks friends if anyone has any ideals please let me know.
and God bless! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sometimes we just need to take a deep breath and begin again-if you have the book, The Spark, go over it again, if not, look at how you began on Spark, and think back or read the blogs you did, or sometimes even work the program again from the beginning, making the pledge and everything. I did that once to help me out. Just walk yourself through all you have accomplished, and know for sure you have it in you to make the changes necessary to live a healthy life. Not just exercise, although that has its place, but in food, in your self-talk, your sleeping habits, and everything that you personally need to do to keep you healthy. For me, I have had to learn, and still sometimes re-learn, the right things to tell myself, because food had become my constant, the only thing I could control, but in all actuality, my controlling my food builds my confidence in me, which affects so many other things!!! I know it is hard, I went through a 3-yr. plateau when I had lost about 40 lbs., and I seriously wondered if I could ever lose again. Like you I really appreciated, and continue to appreciate my sparkfriends, and I am closer to some of them than I am to my non-cyber friends!!! We share a war, against food and against unhealthy ways of life which bonds us closely. I wish you all the best in this new decision, and don't forget, you are never alone with spark!!! emoticon emoticon

It's hard being addicted to food! We need it to live. But when eat it when we are doing nothing, stressed, as a social function. The thing is that if you don't learn to eat differently in the end you will have disease, and be going to the maker quicker than you like. I had problems in this area after a car accident. I ate because I couldn't handle the pain. Then I eat for all the other reasons too Can't watch tv without eating. I joined Weight watchers to teach me a differ live style. They teach you what to eat to keep from gaining weight, how many meals to eat to keep your blood sugar balanced, what you should be filling up on, and how much of everything you need. Basically you are suppose to lose 1-2 pounds a week. More than that crashes your body down, and if you aren't eating right , you will be having your body eat your muscle tone, ect.. Spark I thought helped me to lower my cholesterol better thought. Spark is such a good site. you can go to the healthy meals & copy breakfast, keep yourself around 1200-1300 calories a day. You'll have to do your homework and learn how many fruits, calcium, starches, and healthy fats. Exercise won't be a way to get you down then, it will just help to keep you limber & put more oxygen into your heart. You have to start your engine to keep it running right. Hope this helped. eva

I LOVE your profile pic -- you can see the fighting spirit inside that woman!

It's totally normal to de-rail on this journey. When it happens, the trick is to focus on all that you have done and continue to do RIGHT. For example: you ran a 12K? That is emoticon!!
You lost 60 pounds? emoticon
You're still exercising? emoticon

Remember when you first started on SP, and took baby steps? Time to do that again! Set a goal to improve just one thing about your nutrition this week -- maybe drink more water, or eat an extra serving or two of freggies.

One step at a time, you WILL get there, and your SP friends (AND Jesus!) will be with you all the way. Hang in there -- it's going to take time and lots more work -- but that work is NOT in vain! Believe it, and you will achieve it!

I see you have a fighting spirit in you! At least you are not giving up. When your body is ready it will loose the weight. Just keep on doing what you are doing but be mindful of the calories you eat. Keep logging in each bite of food you eat and keep up the exercising!
