Did that help? A homeopathic doctor once recommended peppermint tea after meals. I don't drink it that often but I do drink a cup every evening. I think it helps.

Hard Work

Friday, August 06, 2010

Hi, lovely SparkPeople! u all are wonderful...

I'm okay, just been kinda down the last few days, struggling with all my lol struggles... Mostly I'm getting deep into my own personal thoughts about my body and self. It is vey enlightening, not easy... and I'm slowly, slowwwwwwwwwwwwly learrning to be both kind and honest with myself.

In the past it's been too easy to hide certain ugly truths from myself and from others, and at the same time all too easy to well, beat myself up. y'know?

Well, that's all for today, I feel sure tomorrow my energy will be better.

Hugs & Encouragement to all (including to myself! ROTFL) emoticon

Why is it that we are always better at forgiving others, or being kind to others, than ourselves??? I think that is basic human nature. We're always hardest on ourselves. On our 50+ team, we have a thread called "Blessings and Challenges". You might want to do this, just on your own, in a journal or something. Everyday record one blessing and one challenge, and just deal with that. It has really helped me not get overwelmed, or really to focus on what is important, and at the same time appreciate the good things going on.

Hope you feel better today, but if you don't, that's okay too. Be gentle with yourself.

When you start really being kind to yourself there is a big shift that happens. I've been so much happier. Contented, even. I love my spark journey. I'm doing just fine. I take it one day at a time and you know what? What is done is done...and tomorrow is another bright day. I hope you have a great weekend...and feel better. Give yourself another hug, too.

I have been told that I also beat myself up all the time. I go to yoga and do more excersizes then before, but maybe it is the lack of awareness, but I am not seeing the changes. I would have thought that there would be more changes since I have been going to yoga for a little over a year. Isn't this enough time to be aware of what improvements there are?

So happy you are starting to have some success with it all. Gradually you'll figure out what works and what won't. I have found that my little 'good' list bothers other people a whole lot more than it bothers me. They always want to try to get me to eat this thing or that thing, and I just smile and say I'm fine with what I have.

Three cheers for hope and maybe!

    a handful to sustain
can lead to the gain
of goals and discoveries
that bring a full repetoire again.

I hope you enjoy this handful, achieving success and the gradual build to what fits for you!

IBS-C

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

*lol* ahem... Yes, my concerns are radically different from IBS-D suffererers. I have IBS-C.

So, don't mind me, I'm still here, still trying to eat and deal with random pain and physically exhaustion while I learn about soluble vs insoluble fiber. *sigh* But my spirit is strong as ever! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am learning too.. It has been a long time coming of ignoring my body.. I thought it was the stress of being a mom because it came with pregnancy. I would like to learn with you. I wish this site had a lactose diet sample to find a place to start. Do you have trouble with dairy?

Nice to meet you.. emoticon

Oh dear, I hear ya! Its a toss up which one is worse. I have both. Though, as I've said, I am TONS better than ever before.

What works for me is drinking a lot of water. I carry my water bottle everywhere I go, even all over the house with me. And, I drink filtered water, not tap or bottled. I think that has made a difference too. My lunch is the same thing every day, and I think this has helped a lot too. I have Dannon Light and Fit yogurt (80 calories) with 1 cup of Fiber One cereal, mixed in. Sometimes, I have a piece of fruit, but not always. My final food for lunch is then, 2 slices of ham. It rounds out the food groups, fills me, and helps me to stay regular. it really does work. When it gets really, really bad, I take Amitiza. It is gentle and works well, also. I don't get those awful, griping cramps that other medications cause.

I feel your pain. You know I do! I hope you find what works for you soon. I know how miserable it is in the mean time.

Let me know how you are,
Patty

Pain, couldn't sleep, when I did sleep i had nightmares... Maybe it was this, maybe it was that... ugh.

Oh well, today's another day, and it's really nice out, so at least I'll get a good walk in this afternoon.

*sigh*... *wry grin* ...

Gut pain, or other? Was it that spicy rice? The wine? For about 15 years I stayed away from alcohol. I am now able to drink a glass now and then but dry, white wine seems to sit best.

Hope you're feeling better today and can sleep tonight.
