Today's Bento - 1-18-10

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

I'll probably make the same lunch & snack for tomorrow. This is california rolls, but with the nori on the outside. The little containers are light soy sauce with garlic powder and wasabi powder for dipping the sushi. The smaller box contains a banana, pecans, grapes, reduced fat sharp cheddar cheese and seedless grapes. (This was more than one meal.)

Walking buddy - check!

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Walked my brother's dog again this morning....I think I've found a walking buddy! She's so excited to get some exercise that she pulls me a little at first. After a while, she calms down a little and walks well with me, but I still have to keep up with her!
It's good for both of us, so I will continue to walk her daily as much as possible...

Oh, she's a brown mutt. Looks kinda like a little lab, though. She's not a little dog...but she thinks she's a lap dog!

That's a great idea! I guess I need to do something like that.

I'm glad to see you back with us.

I have decided it's now or never if I am going to get this off.

I wish us both the best.

Back!

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

After a long hiatus from Spark, I'm getting back into the groove. It seems like everyone is starting now or renewing commitments now.

The key for me will be meeting my nutritional and fitness goals while going to school and dealing with a packed schedule. I need to plan and find a routine.

Getting hit by a car isn't fun!

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Last Monday (April 20th) after work, I was crossing the street (with the walk signal) and was hit by an SUV that was making a right turn at the light. I was knocked over and one of my shoes flew across the street. Things happened pretty fast, and the police were not called...and I didn't have an ambulance take me to the hospital. I was really bruised up, but I was able to somewhat walk. I didn't hit my head or have any injuries other than on my legs and feet. The person who hit me tried to be very nice...and she drove me to my car. I drove myself to the ER near my apartment, but they ignored me for over an hour AFTER I told them I"d been hit by a car. And no, it wasn't a busy ER. I left without seeing a doctor and went home to put ice on my bruises.

Luckily, I steadily improved, and I'm now doing much better. I still have the bruises, but they are healing, and I'm walking normally again. Ever since the accident, I've been really tired though...my body is just zonked. It's been getting better in the past couple of days, and I hope I continue to get back to my normal self!!!

I would definitely go and get checked out, just in case. And give your body time to heal. I hope you feel better soon.

Why in the world weren't the police called?! Do you have the contact info for the woman who hit you, just in case?!??

Get thyself to a doctor, dear... if you need to file an insurance claim or issues pop up later, you won't have any recourse.

Glad you're starting to mend!

Yummy Noodle Bento

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

I got word yesterday that the bento stuff that I ordered last week will arrive on Monday. I also found out yesterday that my office will be closed all next week because of Passover. I worked it out with our UPS dude so I can just swing by the building on Tuesday and pick the box up. I'm also supposed to meet a friend in the city that day for lunch, so it all works out!

Today's lunch bento is very high in carbs and very low in protein, so I went more protein heavy for my snack bento to balance it a little...

SNACK (several snacks together)

This bento contains:
hardboiled egg
light blueberry yogurt topped with...wild blueberries
tomato - sharp cheddar- (fat free) hotdog skewers

Nutritional Info:
348 calories
30g carb
14g fat
24g protein
2g fiber

LUNCH

Yay noodles!

This bento contains:
soba (buckwheat) noodles tossed with soba sauce and green onions
zucchini & carrots

Nutritional Info:
449 calories
86g carb
4g fat
4g protein
4g fiber

Happy Bento-ing!

It means "boxed lunch" in Japanese. It's a Japanese tradition of packing real food for lunch....and visual presentation is as important as nutritional value and overall yumminess!
I don't pack only Japanese food, though...as you can see!
