Gluttony?

Sunday, November 25, 2012

If I could stop eating once I felt full, I'd be alright. Yet, I keep on eating and eating because the food tastes good, and not because I'm still hungry. I really need more self discipline when it comes to food. Especially, fried foods!

Stay Strong! The holidays are the hardest part for me, but remember why you started this journey! I have to constantly remind myself of this during this time and it helps me push away things I dont need. Also, don't allow yourself a lot of down time. I find myself going to the cabinet way too often if I am just sitting at home doing nothing. Keep yourself occupied and moving...that's the key! :)

The discipline will come. You are just beginning this journey and it will take time. It takes 21 days for something to become habit. Which means you will have to not eat fried foods and stay within your calorie range for at least 3 weeks before you will have the willpower to turn them away. It is hard to try to break that habit during holiday season. Continue to do your best and start incorporating exercise. When you have three weeks free of family celebrations, that would be a great time to really attack your plan and find your commitment.

I doubt seriously you are a gluttony,sister-friend! Be kinder to yourself & merciful. We have a whole hostile word outside of ourself just chopping (no pun intended,at the bit, to rag on that! Shame doesn't bring change.

Food is good for us. Food is tasty & designed by the Creator to the enjoyed. We simply need to find weighs in moderation to satisfy not only hunger, nutrition but pleasure.

You'll do it!

I am the same way exactly. I have to clean my plate, always. I have started taking steps just to get in the habit. I only put a little on my plate and put the rest away where I can't see it. If I am not able to put stuff out of sight, I tell myself that someone else is coming to eat with us (imaginary) and that I have to leave that food for them. I know it sounds silly, but it helps. Also, when eating out, I either ask for a take out container when they bring the food or I bring my own container and I put any extra food in there right away before we start eating so that I don't see it. Out of sight, almost out of mind.
