31 Lost

Sunday, August 07, 2011

31 lost, 31 unwanted visits, 31 doors receive that dreaded knock, 31 families with shattered hearts, 31 pairs of boots lined up with rifles and dog tags and helmets, 31 comrades remembered and grieved for, 31 funeral services, 31 names on newly made grave markers, 31 empty places at the table, 31 souls who gave all, whose lives leave a void, so let's take 31 seconds to pause and reflect on such a sacrifice as 31 gone forever but never forgotten. God Bless Our Troops

Beautifully written tribute. Say a prayer for the US "Navy Seals" team and their families. Their helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan Thank you to ALL The Service Men and Women! that make our world safer GOD BLESS AMERICA emoticon emoticon emoticon

Glad you posted this. Nicely done! Thanks for posting this.
I seldom see yellow ribbons on car bumbers anymore, and we need to keep supporting our troops with caring. Theirs is such a hard way of life...

Thought for Friday

Friday, August 05, 2011

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." óMarcel Proust

"If you want happiness for an hour? Take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day? Go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year? Inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime? Help someone else."
*Chinese saying

Who makes us happy? We choose happiness. ...and helping others is the easiest way to find happiness. emoticon emoticon

Thought for Monday

Monday, July 18, 2011

"Your worst enemy cannot harm you
As much as your own thoughts, unguarded.

But once mastered,
No one can help you as much,
Not even your father or your mother."

- Buddha

Our thoughts (and what we tell ourselves) can be very harmful or can be a very powerful tool to help us become the best we can be. We have a choice. emoticon

Good one- thinking positive thoughts, saying some affirmations, and visualizing ourselves doing something with a good outcome can do a lot to motivate us to get going and do it. We also have to be aware of those negative thoughts and self doubt creeping in and learn to set them aside as simply non-productive.

Just what I needed today, Opal.

Our thoughts do control us if we don't learn to control our thoughts.

Love you,
M

YOU make a difference...even when you are not aware!

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

One of my friends at work, Kathy, just told the story about a fellow grade school student who (she bearly remembered) came up to her at her school reunion to thank her. This schoolmate, Connie, said my friend was so kind to her in school. Kathy was puzzled as she tried to remember even talking to her. Connie told Kathy "We were SO poor! You gave me a fish in a bowl and that is the only present I ever got while growing up!" emoticon That simple gesture meant the world to her and changed her life. Connie has become a counselor for school age children. We have no idea how eye contact, a smile or any small gesture can have a ripple effect in the lives of others. emoticon

Young forever?

Friday, June 24, 2011

"Would you really like to stay young forever? Then stop thinking old thoughts.

Learn to revitalize your mental process. Every morning when awake, say:

Today I am going to be enthusiastic, Today I am going to keenly enjoy everything I do, my mind is at an eternal springtime.

Perhaps you will be surprised at the physical wrinkles this new thought will erase, for 'Soul is form and doth that body make.'

If you learn to keep your thought fresh and young, invigorated with enthusiasm and filled with hope,

if you have a keen enthusiastic zest for living, you never can grow old.

Let us stop looking forward to old age and learn to look forward to eternal youth."

- Ernest Holmes, from his book 'The Art of Life".
