This morning I woke up to my wedding weight of 16 years ago. Next goal is another 10 pounds and be at college weight.

Second week of adding exercise

Since my realization that cutting calories isn't enough, I made a goal of adding exercise to the week. I did 5 days last week and my knee was sore so I sort of stopped for the weekend. Started back today with 20 minute cardio and 10 minute resistance band.

    Exercise is the only way that I can lose weight. I stop exercising and I gain weight. Your mileage may vary.

    We should get together or meet in the middle! I have to realize that exercise is not enough and you have to realize that cutting calories isn't enough. Sounds like we both need more balance! Good luck to you on your journey.

Ok, I hit a plateau. Not losing but not gaining. I faithfully use the food tracker daily and wasn't figuring out why. I even decreased my intake calories and no avail. I went on the reports to go back and see when it started so I can understand and there it was. I had been busy with volunteer fundraising and getting back to a routine for school/work after spring break. I wasn't walking as much even though my job requires alot of walking. I guess it is not the right kind of pace to be effective. So Monday went back to faster walking and the scale is finally moving again. I have read and read and read this but the lightbulb didn't come on until this week.

Been gone a long time

I found a blog entry and probably my only entry dated January 21, 2007. It was about my first week at sparkpeople. I actually found this ironic and a little funny. My first attempt lasted only a few weeks. I have restarted sparkpeople almost 6 years later. I am actually down 31 pounds from that time and have learned a lot since. Fingers crossed to stay motivated.

Finished one week on diet

I will be finishing the first week of diet today. I have had two falls off the wagon. They were not huge but it did effect my weight loss. Both times it was when I was feeling stressed and crawled back into bed with a bag of popcorn. I know I could have done something different to relieve the stress but I was cold, hungry, and tired. Most of the stress came from husband. I don't think he means to sabotage my diets but he does anyway. Every time I start one he will dump all his stress on me at a time at a time I am trying to put all my focus on the diet start. I usually end up quitting because I can no longer focus and need the comfort of food to deal with all the little fires around me.

    CONGRATS on completing week 1! I agree with the rest of these ladies... keep up the good work. When stressed, instead of reaching for foods you know that are wrong, ask yourself questions like "is this really going to help me feel better or will it just hinder my weight loss journey?" Keep foods that are healthy around the house and foods that aren't healthy don't buy! I know it's easier said than done. I also know how the stress can be from hubby. But try not to let him get cause you to give up on your new journey. This is for you! You can do it if you put your heart/mind into it!

    I wanted to add my congratulations on being on Spark one week -- and sticking to your food plan (popcorn is an okay snack, so I would not be too hard on myself if I was you).

I know how it is to have stress from the hubby --- I reach for the extra food, too -- but now I am learning to turn towards Sparkpeople and believe in myself.

By the way, exercise gets you warm, too! So why not start walking a little bit around the house -- and you will be overheated in no time ha ha.

go get those bags of popcorn that are 100 calories each and you won't feel so guilty!!! and you can still enjoy your favorite snack!
and I understand where you are coming from, I am a stress and emotional eater, a food addict and a compulsive overeater...
but (isn't there always a but heehee)
I am responsible for WHAT goes into my mouth...
go to the community tab and see if you can find a team or two and sign up to get more support where you can be with people that understand you...
it will help, because you are NOT ALONE...
that is the beauty about being here at SP...
you are understood and help is just right here
keep on blogging...and don't ever ever give up..you are on the right track..
