Gotta keep a 3 day food diary

Saturday, September 12, 2009

I'm a 54 year old college sophomore taking biology, among other classes this semester. Our assignment for next week is to keep a 3 day food diary.
I've tracked my food off and on for months on SP, but find it time consuming and not very user friendly.

I'm so out of the mood to do this. Interesting I need to do it for a grade. I always think things happen for a reason, even the seamingly small things. So I guess I better choose my days, huh? Anyone have any motivational thoughts for this assignment? I really have a hard time doing things I'm not inspired to do!
pffffft lol

Proud of myself tonight

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Over the years, I've turned to food when I'm bored, frustrated, depressed or feel the need to procrastinate. So, here I am tonight, frustrated and feeling left out of decisions my daughters are making. But, I'm drinking water! Good for me ... tomorrow will be a better day!

Boy can I relate to that. Thanks for reminding me I am not alone in this eating for the wrong reasons - merry-go-round

Great job, I've always found water to be a great way to curb an appetite or stop from picking up something to eat. Here's to your better tomorrow emoticon

I know you are proud of yourself. I am proud of you too. It's so hard to stop using food in the wrong way. The physical is not meant to satisfy psychological or emotional needs. Once we understand that and apply it to our day to day lives, most of the battle is won. I wish you many more days like today. emoticon

Wow, never had heartburn till I hit my 50's. Now, rarely it appears, but boy is it annoying! So, tonight, after a wonderful pad thai early dinner, here comes the darned hb again! We were at a friend's house and she gifted me with the papaya enzymes she chewed while she was pregnant! Within a few minutes I felt fine again!
I've heard tums are bad news, they actually do the opposite of what they're intended to do so I was thrilled to find a natural and easy solution and thought I'd share!

Thanks, I will have to look for those and give them a try. I don't get heartburn very often anymore (since eating healthier) but sometimes it shows up.

heartburn in the middle of the night woea woea woe weo

Sunday, August 09, 2009

Ugh, I actually ate well today, and started the morning out with a 1 hour/3 mile walk with a friend. Had a spinach and grilled scallop salad at Macaroni Grill for dinner at 6pm, yet here I am wide awake with a light case of heartburn for the first time in months ... I wanna go back to sleep and for some reason, the Tom Jones song "Pussy Cat Pussy Cat" is running through my mind with the words woe woe woe. I know! like the heartburn and insomnia isn't bad enuf!! lol

You poor thing, having THAT song playing in your head, of all songs. Tonight, it'll be Barry Manilow's "Mandy".

Sure having a hard time getting motivated. I'm moving more and more, but my eating feels largely out of control
