How to find continuing motivation...

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

My weight loss and gain just cycle back and forth without me actually losing any significant amount and keeping it off. I want to lose 80 pounds. I have to stay committed.

Lack of commitment

Monday, March 28, 2011

It's now 2011, and I've regained the 25 lbs that I lost 3 years ago. I cannot seem to commit to my diet, and I really should, for health reasons. I want to lose weight, but I love to eat. It's a tough balancing act always, and even today, day 2 of the rest of my life if I can find my willpower, I did not eat the way I meant to. It's all good until dinner time. I probably should give up my coffee or drink it black, but it's a small pleasure so I'm not going to. Moving beyond that, everything goes great until dinner. From dinner to bedtime, it's battle time. And, I usually give in. Not tonight, though; dinner was a calorie bomb. I hope that tracking my calories closely will raise my awareness so that I make better choices.

I have struggled with those same issues for quite a while now. Recently, when I decided to try a new way of eating (because I don't want the long term effects of Diabetes Type II that my mom and sisters had), I just got rid of the food I shouldn't be having and stocked up on lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and things I can have. So instead of wanting to go to the kitchen and get the high calorie/high fat/high sugar stuff, if I do find myself wandering into the kitchen, most anything I would have is low calorie/low fat/low sugar so I'm not shooting myself in the foot every time I am hungry. I concentrated on buying low glycemic foods, which also happen to be the best for us in having tons of the vitamins and minerals we need. Things like grapefruit, oranges, bananas, berries of all kinds, cabbage, carrots, green beans, fresh corn, tomatoes, crookneck squash, asparagus, bell peppers, onion, brown rice, rye bread. It all helps.

Don't give up on yourself and don't beat up on yourself. Just take the next right step.
