First Update on Bruno

Saturday, June 28, 2014

I am happy to report that Bruno is nearly like his old self again! I know that's the Prednisone, but actually, he started to do a little better before his first dose Thurs. nite! I am so blessed that, at least for now, he's much better! Even holds his ears like a puppy again! All day, Thursday, he didn't do that, like he just felt like doodoo. And he probably did feel like that. He still is a little wobbly on his legs, but this afternoon, he bounded out the front door like old times and did all his business, sniffed around and popped right back into the house! This is the first time since Wed. that he was able to go out on his own! (I was carrying him out to the grass as we have 2 little steps out the door to the porch which he would fall down).
So, at least for now, he's my old Bruno again! I will keep you updated! I want to take this opportunity now to thank all of you for your comments and your prayers and warm wishes for me and Bruno and if you wouldn't mind too much, please keep us there ( in your prayers) as Bruno is 15 after all, and Prednisone just masks symptoms which means he may not be out of the woods. Y'all are great and I just don't know what I would ever do had I not met all you wonderful folks! (((HUGS))) (((HUGS)))

Reaching out for prayers!

Thursday, June 26, 2014

It's me again, my friends. Sometimes y'all are the only ones I can go to and I hope you don't mind too much. It's my Bruno doggie. He's 15 ( at least) and has developed some awful thing. He can't use his legs. You can stand him up and they just fold under him. I've had him to the vet today. He did blood work, which was fine. Then he did a couple of x-rays, and they didn't show any problems. Poor dog hasn't peed all day. I tried slinging him in a towel and got him outside, but he didn't pee. Don't know if he'll be able to eat this evening! Doc said he could refer me to a specialist, but it would be cost prohibitive, esp. at his advanced age. We're starting him on prednisone today and the vet wants to see him again Mon. or Tues. My poor baby. He doesn't understand. My DS is home now and he will help me with the little guy.
I fear his days are limited, now and it scares me so much. I know he can't stay forever, but longer would be preferred.
Prayers, my friends, please! This is not just a random dog as most of you can identify with.......this is my 4-legged son.
Thank you all so, so much for reading and your understanding and your prayers. I will keep you all updated in a blog. (((HUGS)))

I will ABSOLUTELY keep Bruno in my prayers Jayne! We went through the same thing with our beloved Sweetie who went over the Rainbow Bridge due to kidney failure. She (as is my AllyBear) is my 4 legged little girl, so I totally understand. I'm so sorry for what you are going through. My love and prayers go out to you!

Prayers for you and Bruno, of course. I've had a number of dogs and cats over my life (still do) and I know how hard it is when it gets to the end. My mother always told me the really bad thing about our pets is that they don't live as long as we do. She was absolutely correct! You'llknow what is right to show Bruno the final act of love and respect.

Just a little explanation to my Spark friends!

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

This may not seem to be anything needing an explanation, but to those of you who follow me on their friend feed, I'm sure you noticed 4 entries on this past Monday for a 9 minute walk. It was actually 4 separate 9 minute walks! No double clicking this time! hehe My DGD is going to an arts and crafts class a street over from my house, so I walked her up then I walked home, then I walked up to retrieve her, then we walked to my house! It was a slow walk, so 9 minutes one way, 4 times for me!! Yay! So, that's all that was, but I thought y'all should have all the d'ruthers!! hehe
Yesterday I got over to the gym and walked an hour while watching Bones. (one of my fav. shows) Need to do it again, but I'm wiped out! Maybe I'll do half and hour then back to an hour tomorrow.
Hope y'all are doing Sparkly !! ((HUGS))

We love 'Bones' too. The main guy character...can't think of his blasted name right now was on one of our Josh's and DH's favorite programs 'Angel' that they watched together like clockwork. Even after we lost Josh DH continued to watch that program sometimes with tears in his eyes..it was heartbreaking. emoticon So we were very happy to see this actor resurface in such another great sitcom.

I do pretty good on the treadmill when I'm engrossed in a distraction. DH likes to walk outdoors with his earphones on...he listens to Josh's favorite music and says he talks to Josh through his music.

Isn't it sad that still...8 long years later...we are still grieving. It just never seems to completely go away.

I'm horrified for the families that lost their loved ones on that Malaysian air flight that got shot down...it's just a crazy and insane world we seem to be living in. Who would ever think they would be shot down by a MISSLE on an airplane flight.

That's why we are DRIVING on our vacation...not that that is a whole lot safer these days...I'll still take my chances.

Hugs to you sweetie pie! emoticon

You get your exercise in any way and how you can...I'll be cheering you on! emoticon

Next time you know you're going to that same place, march in place or do house walking for a minute either before you go or when you get back, then you'll have your 10 minutes in = 40 minutes, for which you will receive 8 spark points! emoticon

Maybe you should have walked a little slower, according to SP, aerobic activity should be at least 10 minutes to rev up your system.

GRACEOMALLEY 6/25/2014 2:39PM

Thanks for explaining, but there was no panic! You do as much walking as you can do comfortably and safely. If an hour is too much in one shot, go ahead and shorten the time. If you are better doing 2 or 3 shorter bursts of activity a day, do that. Each of us does best when we work with what works for us and our abilities.

A Quick Addendum To My Last Blog

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

I forgot to mention as I told you about Chef Meg's luscious offerings the almost most important part!!! Since I wrote that first blog about the recipes I've tried, I've lost 1 pound. As long as I get some exercise each day and eat only (or mostly) only these dishes.......the weight drops! If you have "The Spark Solution" it pretty well says that right out! And it works! I strongly recommend getting, reading and trying out this book!! Take 'er out for a spin! Kick the tires!! It works if you work it!! Promise!!
Hope you all are having a super day and a super successful day as well!! (((HUGS)))

In answer to your queries!

Tuesday, September 03, 2013

So, most of you know I've been trying out some of Chef Meg's recipes and have asked about which ones I've tried and if they were good....well, here goes.
I have tried more that serve 4 or 6 or more so my DH & DS can get some benefit, too. So, recipes I've tried and love ( from the Spark Solution book):
Dijon-Herb Pork Tenderloin---yummy and easy, too!
Inside-Out Burgers ----I think I could have done better with finding some way of making them juicier and more moist with the los-fat meat.
Alfredo Pasta with Broccoli - Yummy and easy peasy!!
Baked Macaroni and Cheese - East and yummy!! DS was raised on mac & cheese ( I know, I was a hurry up mom) and he liked it fine!
Meg's Pan-Fried Chicken - Yup! Good, too!
One Dish Dinner: Chicken and Vegetables - Very good and easy!
One Dish Dinner: Southwestern Chicken and Rice - My all-time fav!! Makes more than you'd think! I ate a 1 cup serving and DS did, too. I still froze 8- 1 cup servings!
Great for go-to lunch or suppers!
Panko-Breaded Fish with Tomato Salad - If you like fish, you'll like this! I didn't care for the tomato salad, but the fish was dee-lish!
Quick Chicken Enchiladas - Very good, but it took me a long time to prep! But I am not skilled in the kitchen, so it took me awhile. I bought a rotisserie chicken and weighed out my amount and shredded it for this recipe. Sooo yummy!!
My fav. lunch of hers is the Curried Tuna. She suggests eating it like a sandwich or a wrap, but I just eat it right out of the bowl I put it together in! Love it!!
Not in the Spark Solution book, I did the ......(forget the name she gave it).....like little baked hand held Apple Pies or dumplings! Instead of using phyllo as she has, I bought canned croissants and made half the filling and rolled it up in the croissants! Had enough to do all 8!! I'm going to do this much more frequently!! No sugar added or needed!!

So here it is! I've had to type this 3 times now as it keeps disappearing! So I'll close now in fear of it going away prematurely!! Hope you try some of these!! Chef Meg is trying to teach me how to cook!!!

mmmmmm you are making me HUNGRY! Those sound like some great dishes! I'll have to check some of them out! I'm glad that you are finding recipes that you love which are designed to be healthier!

For the burgers, we use extra lean meat and then I always add a bit of extra virgin olive oil to add in a bit more moisture. It works great and while the olive oil is calorific, the fat that comes from olive oil is healthier and it is still waaay lower calories to add a bit of olive oil to the meat than to get a higher fat meat.
