Birthday Party

Monday, June 20, 2011

Avery my grandaughter turned 2 years old June 10. My daughter had a good turn out of 8 moms,10 tots and 4 grandmas! The weather was sunny, warm and windy. It was too windy to blow out the candle so we never lit it. Hot dogs, juice and cake, which the kids loved and playing with the bubble wands, chasing balloons!

Election Night Canada

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

I started voting at the age of 20. Been voting now for 44 years. I have never missed an election to submit my democratic right to vote.

Last nights election was one of the best, outcomes I have seen in a long, long time. When I first started voting I supported the struggling New Democratic Party. When Elizabeth May of the Green Peace Party, who won a seat in the house of commons last night, I was thrilled for the parties achievement. It reminded me of a previous decade when the NDP won a seat in the house of commons. It was sad to see the Block loose so deeply. I believe they will re-emerge with a stronger, less radical leader when the next election, comes around again.

I was in a stupor who to vote for, this time around, Green Peace or the Conservatives. I know the Green Peace Party will have many growing pains but truly believe the timing in Canaadian politics has come of age with the Green Peace movement. On the other hand I really wanted a majority won political party and the only party I could imagine getting that was the Conservative Party. I guess, you know now, what my voter's choice was.

The worst candidate in my riding, running for the Liberals, said he wants to go into politics "someday."

LASHERTHECAT - I think your right about how Quebecers feel, as it showed up, in the non-votes for the block.

MEGSMILEY - I am sick of having back-to-back elections, too.

MOLLIEMAC - Guess we will all have to wait and see, what the next 4 years bring. emoticon

I voted Green Party- even though I knew the guy in my riding had no chance to win... I think they need more funding- so that was my goal. I couldn't bring myself to vote for the liberals or the conns- I dislike the leaders too much...
In the end, I am content with the outcome, even though I am not a huge Harper fan; I am sick of having back-to-back elections. We need some momentum- so at least we will have 4 years before heading back to the polls. I am hoping Harper doesn't make me eat my words. I am trying to trust his comments that he isn't going to bring any surprises...

Not mine either!! Yikes!! Since we are airing political views... I don't think the Bloc will be back. It's time is past. I know I echo feelings of some Quebecers when I say that Quebec sovereignty cannot be a national issue - it's a provincial issue.

Strange Things Can Happen

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

I was brought up in a non religious home. I really don't know if my mother believed in God, as she died way too young, for me to even think of asking. Though I know my sister is and our father was an ethicises.

When I was 35 I had a heart attack. I was put on life support for two months in a comatose state. I did have the most incredible experience. First I felt like I was flying backwards in a spiral motion. When the motion stopped, music so tremendous, it seem to come streaming into my whole being. Then before me was this brilliant light. I recalled seeing a man with a flowing gown, long chestnut brown shoulder length hair, the man had his arms out stretched to me. It seemed he was beckoning me to come forward, into the light. I knew a little about God, as I did go to sunday school once or twice, with a friend, when I was kid. In a silent moment I trembled and thought, is this God? I began to tremble with fear of death, towards the brilliant light. Then all went black, as pitch black as I could not see. I stayed there for how long I don't know, suddenly I cried out "if this is hell, I don't want to be here anymore.

The next thing I remember, my sister was talking to me. Asking me to sign my widow's cheque so she could deposit it into my bank account. I looked at her and began to laugh and replied " I would if I could remember who I was or what my name is." She told me my name but I could not remember how to spell or write. I remember scribbling on the back of the cheque. The bank okayed it, strange things can happen!

I remained in the hospital for several weeks. When my sister came to pick me up. She told me, my doctor told her, that I may have permanent memory loss or I will have temporary amnesia. This really scared me.

I practiced printing the alphabet everyday, then I started slowly to remember how to write. When my writing was eligible to read, I took my grade 12 over again at night school. I passed grade 12 the second time around with higher marks than when I was 17 years old. This proved to me, that I was back to normal. When I turned 50 I had saved enough money, to enter university.

Today I don't follow any man made religion by going to some man made church but I do believe in God and Christianity. I think I was given a second chance to believe in him, which I truly do.

So dear cyber friends, now you know why I have to edit alot of what I type!

No two people believe the same even if they go to same church! That is what I've learned over the years.
That is a really amazing story. I'm glad you are here to share it with us! Rhonda

Thank you for sharing that truly amazing experience! I'm not about to tell you how to express your spirituality, but I can say that inside every human ever born is a bit of her creator and as long as you stay in touch and honor that part of yourself you'll be doing what you were truly meant to do. I am grateful every time I read or hear a story that attests to that connection.

Namaste!

Okanog, I think that if you want to know God, you ought to read the Bible, the one book that He has kept together for millennia, in order for seekers to know more about Him.

The documents that make up the Bible have startling reliability and credibility (they haven't changed, and there are ancient manuscripts to prove it). Modern Man and his activities to be religious will always be messed up, but God is perfect and He rewards those who seek Him.

Some days ....coulda woulda, shoulda went back to bed

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

My digital box for the TV & other remotes crashed after 5 years or more of service. Replaced it today with a tiny new version. Only one wee problem, I can't seem to program it, as the TV keeps shutting off. Oh, hum after 6 hours of trying, I gave up.

Went to spend some time on the computer, but reaching world wide web was out of service. Which I didn't realize till I had defragged, debugged everything I could thing of doing to clean my computer, short of deleting Spyware program and reinstalling. In a exasperated state called the communication provider. Yes, the whole web was down. Oh, well at least I got a thorough cleaning of my computer done. All I had to do was go up to edit and click reset button!

Yesterday my coffee pot died, 1st one for this year. Replaced 3 last year. I tell ya they don't make coffee pots like they used to! I remember having one coffee pot for um a good two decades! Sourced out coffee pots produced in some foreign country that's the problem!

It's snowing tonight, the snow that has been forecast to come since last friday. 150 mph winds are to hit Vancouver Island tomorrow and the south coast. Glad I don't live down there anymore! I think I maybe coming down with the dreaded Cabin Fever! Great way to start the month of March maybe ol' man winter will disappear by the end of the month!

Well Cheers to tomorrow, glad today is almost finished!

Yes well, we do get temperatures from 90 - 120 c in a some hot spells. Temperatures can reach 140 c through the summer months, sometimes into September here in the Okanagan.

The Okanagan Valley was originally a dessert. In the late 1800 missionaries, settled in and started building the first irrigation systems from Lake Okanagan for watering their orchards. Today many of the fruit orchardists have turned the fruit orchards in to wineries.

Filtered Water

Sunday, January 09, 2011

Back in December, my gas furnace was not working. Had a repair person in to see what was wrong with my funace. Turns out I needed a new part. So paid for the part and the service of installing. Alls well...

Coming closer to Christmas Eve, I turned on the ice maker in my spare fridge. Usually with in a six hour period the ice bucket is full. Not this time, I ran the ice maker for a 24 hour period. Look in the ice bucket and nothing. Also the filtered water, was at an all time slowed down ordeal! It was taking about 5 minutes to fill an 8 ounce glass of water. Can't be without my ice and filtered water.

Doing some investigating behind the fridge, I discovered, the water tube of plastic coil, that brings cold water from the plumbing into my spare fridge was wrapped up into a tight coil with masking tape.

Hmm, I do recall the furnace repair person saying he would wrap the plastic water tube up, to put it out of the way, while he was working on my furnace. I agreed to that. Just neither one of us thought to undo the taped up plastic water coil. Promptly I removed the masking tape and stretched out the coiled tubing. Wella, the filtered water started flowing nicely again and ice on demand was ready for Christmas Eve!
