No Time to Come Up For Air!

Monday, October 15, 2012

That was the theme of my day today. Every time I turned around there was something else that needed to get done and required my time.

Crisis 1: My work calls and another center out of state needs help as soon as possible. So I find out I'm going out of town TOMORROW MORNING and will be gone until Friday. Then I will work back at my center Saturday.

Crisis 2: My aunt is going through a messy divorce. Which somehow means that she needs me to come down to a impromptu party on Saturday so that my cousin feels love.

Crisis 3: Some bills need to be paid that I was alerted to at the last moment. I paid them.

Craziness 4: My kid needs a ride to a game in TEN minutes. I drop every thing to do it.

Craziness 5: He also tells me he has a National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony in TWO hours.

etc etc etc. The fun just never stops LOL.

Any ways, I'm fighting a migraine and trying to prepare for what seems to be a long and crazy week.

Wish me luck. I am slightly worried about staying on track and living out of a hotel for a week. I did so good last week and don't want a set back. I am hoping that my hotel will have a fridge and that way it will be easier. However, most trips we stay in places that don't have a fridge and it forces me to go out to eat. That will be more challenging.

I am lucky to have a job though and so I'm not complaining.

And to end the blog on a positive note, I would like to mention the fact that I have increased my fitness minutes yesterday and today. Slow and steady wins the race right? :)

I have a friend who sets her priorities by asking what's gonna matter 5 years from now. I can't guess about the rest of the things on your schedule, but I am pretty sure that breathing will matter five years from now. Best wishes.

You have to take some time for yourself sweetie even if it's only a few min. a day. I didn't and nearly went into depression. Don't forget it's important to take care of yourself.

My Scale is NOT Broken!

Sunday, October 14, 2012

I am down to 173.8!!! I started a week ago at 176.8. That's a 3lb loss!!!!!!
emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had to buy a whole other scale AND weigh myself a second day in a row to believe it.

I am so excited! And my catbuddy Lucioussue she lost 2lbs this week!!! We are definitely starting this challenge out with a bang. I am excited for the both of us.

Randy is cleaning and I'm about to force him to go walking with me. emoticon

Then later on we plan on going and registering for a bridal registry. Lots of fun things to do today and it will keep me up on my feet!

Things I'm thankful for:
-Great Spark friends - you guys have really kept me motivated.
-Randy: He's been RELATIVELY supportive...he's eating less junk this time around so he doesn't tempt me off course. And he's been taking walks with me.
-My Health: I've been able to successfully this far (knock on wood) keep this head cold at bay and been able to stay active and focused on making my lifestyle a healthier one.
-My Cat: for providing me unconditional love.

Congratulations!! Did you really go out and buy a new scale to double check? That cracks me up because that is exactly what I would do (except I would probably doubt the second scale and have to get a third)!!

Is My Scale Broken?!

Saturday, October 13, 2012

I got on the scale this morning and it says I'm down 2.2lbs since two days ago. Don't get this post wrong, I'm not being sarcastic, self-depreciative, or boastful. I am really perplexed!!!!!

I've been monitoring my weight for a 5 week period every other day or so and the most that I have lost in one WEEK is MAYBE 2lbs....so to be down 2.2lbs in 2 DAYS seems wrong. I've been pretty constant and with the eating right and exercising so I can't see any reason why there would be a sudden drop like that, unless that's my body suddenly adjusting 5 weeks in.

The only other thing I can think of is that I woke up 3 hours later than the usual today and its lost water weight after going to the bathroom a few times in the middle of the night.

I weigh in for my challenge today and I want the weight to be accurate. I appreciate the loss, however if its just water weight and i'm going to regain it on the scale for next week, I'd rather not take the drop like that.

Yes it could have been excess water but if that is what you weigh then go with it. I can fluctuate 2-3 every day which is why I hate weighing myself (but yet can seem to stop doing it-lol!). Let's go CATS!

Have you been on a plateau? Since a plateau is caused by the body temporarily retaining water to compensate for the fat loss (bodies don't like change), when the body finally agrees to allow you your hard-earned weight loss, the plateau is followed by a sharper than usual drop on the scale. In any case, congratulations.

I have recorded a higher weight than the scale showed on a weigh-in because I was scared that it was wrong and then would have to show a gain for the next week. Then cautiously watched the scale to see if it stuck. Or you can record the lower weight and if it does go up a little, so what? You are losing weight and that's great! Don't sweat the small stuff, that being a low number on weigh-in day...

changes of around 2lbs are not uncommon. Time of day, diet, salt intake, time of month (for women) and many other things can take a part in daily changes.
Weighing every day can drive you nuts, it did me so I now only weigh in once a week.

You are doing great! Our bodies can fluctuate a couple of pounds each day. And like you said, it is probably water weight. Which is good!

Achoo!

Friday, October 12, 2012

Sniffles keep coming and going. I'm doing my best to fight it. I ate a bit more than I usually do today. I ended it with some sashimi (sushi without the rice). It was more protein and healthy protein, so I'm hoping that it helps with whatever I'm fighting.

I didn't get much exercise in today or yesterday. I need to work out a bit earlier in the day so that when it becomes evening (9pm) i don't have to force myself to get on the treadmill.

Despite the exhausting week and not feeling good I still made 10 minutes. I didn't want to lose my sparkstreak. :-p

emoticon Slow but steady...I'm determined to win this race!

Found the Kitty a Home!

Thursday, October 11, 2012

We found the little guy a home! To a husband and a wife, with three girls 14, 11, and 7. He's a really loving cat. He will make a good pet and they will make a good family to him.

He's so cute. He does barrel rolls in your arms and at your feet because he loves attention so much.

I am so happy that this story has such a good ending!!!!!!

That's great! Lynna, shame on people like your former neighbors. We have 29 strays. People toss them into our patio - 10 this spring alone. Our vet took 7 of them to give away and we kept 3 - sweethearts all. Finding deserving homes is a constant labor of love. Good work!
