I LOVE my Freggies! (at the very least, they make me POOP)

Friday, January 04, 2013

Building momentum and consistency on getting freggie servings in. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I need convenience when I eat. (which is how I gained weight originally due to all the fast food runs). However, now I am planning healthy meals to throw together, and healthy snacks.

Perfect (for me) freggie snacks:
1) apples (not messy, throw in your bag, and your set)
2) Mini sweet peppers (not messy, crunchy, and i can eat them without needing dressing)
3) pomegranate seeds (messy to get out, but once you get them out, put them in a container, and grab a handful here and there - so many antioxidants!!!)
4) grape tomatoes (easy to pop some into your mouth and go!)

I'm eating for nutrition now. Its not chocolate, or pizza, or whatever other food you may indulge in, but its healthy for my body and convenient. It also a great way I have found to add variety to my diet since I eat the same breakfast every morning and in general eat the same kind of lunch (a lean cusine or something of the sort).

If freggies have been a struggle for you, I suggest trying to find snacks of convenience. Focus on convenience and mix it up.

On a side note: you will see a great change to your poop! I don't know why it fascinates me so, but it does. An apple a day (sometimes two) makes you really regular!!! (try it and see if you have problems; i've challenged people at work to do so and they have noticed a difference).

The increase in freggies means an increase in fiber. Fiber helps you to feel full, soften your stool and shorten time food spends through your GI. It can help fight fat absorption in your body! And past all that scientific jargon...it helps you POOP which will make you feel good! (at least I always do afterwards). Sometimes you will also notice different colors in your poop...that doesn't have any particular weight loss benefit other than, it adds some variety to your life emoticon .

So in conclusion, eat your freggies people because you will LOVE them...or at the very least you will POOP and a lot.

Inspiring MOVEment.

Thursday, January 03, 2013

I've been focusing on building consistency in my movement and exercise program. I am building momentum and feel stronger/leaner/happier every day. Going along with my focus on MOVEMENT for 2013, I have also inspired Randy to move forward into a healthier lifestyle. He is just at the beginning, but he allowed me to create him a spark account last night. The minute he got home, he was having me track things for him that he couldn't find nutritional information for. He also had me help him track his fitness. Hopefully we can move forward in 2013 as a COUPLE striving for a healthy lifestyle, and not just as an individual.

Nonscale victories:
-Work has been SO stressful with all the changes this week but I'm getting through and its not wearing on me like it was at the beginning of December. :)
-Feel more energy.
-Fitting into a pair of pants that i was the last time I was at this weight (however, I am more toned, and the pants fit better!)

Things I'm thankful for:
-Randy joining spark.
-Having a day off tomorrow to relax.
-Being able to better seperate myself from my job. It should not be ALL consuming.
-Feeling happy

You are probably expecting an update on my physical state when in fact I am updating you on my mental status. Today I am better. I've been continuing to eat healthy and focus on getting more fruits/veggies in my diet. I also have been pushing through exercise. This feeling feels good - unlike emotional eating afterwards.

I expect to be feeling back to my normal self by the weekend hopefully. :)

Every one has been blogging about a "word" to describe 2013. My word is: MOVEMENT.

Movement forward, in the right direction. Towards a healthier, more active lifestyle.

MOVEMENT. For modeling healthy lifestyle behaviors that will "MOVE" others towards action.

Nonscale victories:
Feeling emotionally better by exercise. Not having to rely on anxiey medication, being able to push through an extremely stressful work situation without blow-ups, getting physically sick, or having to take a break.

Things I'm thankful for:
-Spark friends. You guys move me every day with your words of encouragements, your inspiring blogs, and you determination and perseverence.
-Randy allowed me to start a spark account for him. (his page is private still though)
-My health. My families health.
-New beginnings at work with a new center manager.
-Getting to take classes this semester!

Feeling better.

Tuesday, January 01, 2013

Last night we went over to friends but had to leave shortly after because Cameron got violently ill with the stomach flu. I wanted to stay up but Randy didn't feel like it. I was really disappointed with Randy's choice. I went to bed feeling depressed and woke up in the same mood.

I chose to work past the sadness and work out. I started my day out on the treadmill, cleaned the house. Went for a walk outside. Did t39 day shred and then ended the night on the treadmill. After all that, I must've had a plethora of endorphins because I feel a lot better now.

I'm glad you are feeling better. I managed to stay up till 12:45 when my youngest came home from a party. It's getting tougher to stay up that late because I still get get up by 5:30 or 6 each morning without an alarm. I'm dragging now from staying up so late last night. It was great that you turned to exercise to help you feel better, it's a much better choice than turning to food. emoticon

Feeling Down.

Sunday, December 30, 2012

The scale is back down to 158.6 which is a pound down from last week and 3 lbs down from yesterday. So I've decided to ignore it for now until it gets it act together. I will re-weigh saturday as usual. I feel great, I'm in a pair of jeans I haven't worn in awhile and I feel lean and that's all that counts.

Today I've really struggled all day to be happy. I feel like I need a hobby or something else in my life right now. Randy hunts all the time and Cameron is 13. I am lonely and bored. On the other side of my brain (the logical side) I know that Randy and I still hang out during the week and I also work a lot which makes it hard for me to want to do much afterwards other than relax.

I woke up in an okay mood but Randy killed it by being grumpy and then Cameron put the coffin in it when he announced he wanted to have his friend over (the one kid that we don't really like). Randy and I took a nap on the couch today and I felt a lot better but right now I just feel lonely. I wish I had more friends around here but its hard to keep up with friends when I work so much and have a family.

BLAH BLAH BLAH okay I'm done complaining. I am going to do my best to get out of this mood and feel better by the morning.

Randy and I saw Les Miserables. I cried through half of it last night. It was really good though. However, I do not have problems no where near those people had.

Things I'm thankful for:
-Good sparkfriends. I can vent my thoughts/feelings without fear of prejudice and receive encouragement!
-My cat. He's a good companion.
-Having a quiet day.

Some exercise can also lift your mood, and It's the very thing I don't feel motivated to do when I'm not happy. If I do it anyway, I rarely keep wallowing in the unwanted feelings. Pick music that you love and jazzes you up.

I hope you can find just the right hobby for you!

I'm hoping you will have a better day today. I'm sure many of us sometimes feel lonely and need something else some of the time like a hobby. I felt lonely when my second daughter went off to college in June. I don't really like empty nest most of the time, it seems lonely and I don't know what to do with my extra time. Then both of my girls come home from college and it can be exhausting trying to make sure they have a good time in the 3 weeks they are home. Life if full of ups and downs and unexpected bumps in the road and it is okay because you have family and friends on spark who care about you and your feelings.
