New Year (almost) New Goals

Even though I've already lost 20 lbs, I want to redefine some goals. Like the first quote says, I can't just sit here, I need to keep pushing. So here a few small goals I have added for myself:

1) Strength Train (3x's a week). I've been putting this off. Time to get on LRSILVER's bandwagon and become a lean mean muscle machine. ;)
2) Eat 5-7 servings fruits/vegetables a day. (this one is hard for me, I can make 3-4, but to make 5-7 I have to really think about it.

I am in PHASE 3 of the spark diet plan (arguably, I am past this, but it took me awhile to track the action steps). Phase 3 says that I can track less often, once a week instead of every day. I reject this notion for myself right now. I think my success so far has been holding myself accountable by tracking. I'm not ready to stop tracking. I may never stop tracking...I don't find it much of a burden so I'm not going to quit now.

Recent NonScale Victories:
1. A few posts ago, I thought I was coming down with something, and so far I have steered clear of it. I believe I owe this to taking care of my body.
2) I feel leaner. I hesistate to say stronger, since I haven't really been focusing on that. Definitely leaner though.
3) Cameron (son) randomly stopped midsentence today to say "you look like you've lost a TON of weight." That coming from the kid that can't see the milk jug in front of his eyes is QUITE a compliment. :)

Things I'm thankful for today:
1) Me time. I sparked, I worked out, I cooked dinner.
2) I didn't blow up at any one at work today despite how stressful it was.
3) My cats for deciding to wake me up at 5:00am instead of 4:00am (going to start locking them out of my room if they aren't careful).
4) Getting my ENERGY back after last week.

    My sister in law who lost a ton of wt and became a woman fitness assistant ( doesn't have the personal trainers papers yet) said she noticed some diff, but not a real change till she started strength.. She had lost a ton of wt, but still was so flabby and wore larger sizes now.. well hubby got a super gift from his mum, pics of their life, and sil found one in the group ( each 7 kids got a scrapbook of pics they all got the same pics) when she was large and she was amazed. I never thought I looked that big or even was that big. And she said it is yes diet, yes exercise ( she started with walking) but mostly strenght and biggest she said of all was doing it! and knowing she would feel better after.

    Strength training is what tones you and makes you look thinner. But it is also so good for you. Muscle requires more calories than fat, so it is win win. You are doing great. Keep it up. Woo hoo.

    I used to HATE strength training and now I love it! I posted a great kettlebell workout on my blog a few minutes ago. You don't have to have a kettlebell. I imagine you could do it with a dumbbell just as easy.

Fit Christmas

Christmas has gotten off to a great start. Woke up a little bit before 8 on my own (Randy had a brilliant idea to put the cats in the kitchen so they wouldn't destroy the presents, or tag team me awake at 4-5am in the morning like they have been).

Cameron didn't wake up until 9am. We opened all of our gifts. I got a new pair of running shoes:



And a lot of work-out tops, colorful socks some beads for my pandora bracelet, etc. I am one lucky girl. My mother last night also got me some fitness clothes along with the laptop shelf. My sister got me a gift card to Dick's sporting goods store and the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels!!!!

I was thinking ahead when I asked for fitness stuff because just as my fitness motivation seemed like it was going downhill I am now BEYOND excited to work out now. :)

Things I'm proud of today:
Waking up and immediately wanting to get on the treadmill.

Things I'm thankful for:
My energy is through the roof today. I hope it will carry over this week.
Quiet day at home with Randy and Cameron.
Renewed excitement to work out!
Feeling joyful today.

    It sounds like you are all ready to begin focusing more on fitness. I love all the great gifts you received that focus on a healthy lifestyle.

    WOW you sound like you got what you wanted, and I too got 2 beads for my bracelet and think probably one coming from the dog on my birthday ( new years eve) as I had showed hubby a paw print one. lol

I do have to ask who is Cameron? I am figuring dh, son? but just thought I would ask. I am so glad that you have had a good Christmas day! HUGS and enjoy the day, people and meal. It is one meal on one day enjoy! HUGS

Enjoying the holidays

The key to enjoying the holidays is getting the holiday shopping over with early! I even wrapped all my presents early! Getting every thing done ahead of time took the "have to" out of buying presents and allowed me to get excited about finding extra things for my loved ones. Its been really enjoyable! It also prevented me from feeling overwhelmed and stressed about money!

Today I worked a little bit then we had Christmas over at my mom's. my nephew had so much fun opening presents (he's two) that he opened every ones, lol. But that's okay, we didn't mind.

I was excited because I had asked for fitness related presents this year so I got some new work out clothes (exciting since I lost a bunch of weight and don't have many stylish clothes) and I also got a laptop desk for my treadmill! Walking on my treadmill went by so fast. It normally feels like an ETERNITY to walk 10 minutes on my treadmill. Today 35 minutes went by and it felt like nothing. I usually walk 4.0 on the treadmill but with the laptop I can only go 3.5. However, I think the fact that I can walk 3 times longer outweighs the speed. But I will try to go a little faster each day to see if I can work back up.



Can't wait for a relaxing Christmas day tomorrow!

Nonscale victories:
Jumping around with my nephew (who's two) and being able to keep up!
Since I've been eating healthier, I've noticed my allergies aren't as bad.

Things i am thankful for:
Great day with my mom, sister, nephew, Randy and Cam.
My family had a great time.
Nothing on my agenda so I can relax the next two days.
Discovering pomegranate seeds today. They are amazing! (And nutritious)
Having a renewed sense of motivation to focus on the fitness side of my new lifestyle.

Cameron's car accident.

I semi-mentioned it in my blog yesterday, but I was too exhausted to go into details. Two nights ago, Cameron was in a car accident. He called me and his dad and said, "Dad, we just got into a car accident. Come get me! I don't know where I am!" That was scary. When we arrived, Lynette's (his friends mom) mini-van was smashed right into a tree after hitting a rough patch of black ice. There were 7 kids in the car. Lynettes oldest got the worst of it because she wasn't wearing a seat belt. She had to get stitches for a bad cut on her leg and she smashed out the back windshield with her head. Luckily, she was fairly okay other than the stitches. The rest of the kids suffered minor scrapes/bruises from the seat belts and airbags. They were all very fotunate. The kids were crying, two of them rode int he ambulance to the hospital. We drove Cameron there because they wanted to check for internal bleeding. Luckily he didn't have any. The catheter was more traumatizing than the accident I think for him. Poor guy. :( We were at the hospital until 5 am in the morning. I had a few hours sleep then went to work.

After work we went to Randy's family christmas. Today I had off. Exchanged my wedding dress for a size down (yay!) and finished buying some odds and ends for every one. I also got back on the treadmill after taking almost 1.5 weeks off from it. I went over my calorie range today but I am still heading in the right direction. Made sure to drink all my water and make healthier choices today. I am worried a bit about tomorrow because my family Christmas will be at my mom's. I'm going to do my best to eat well.

My Motivation currently:




Nonscale victories:
Trying on my dress and seeing how much I've lost.
Feeling more energetic today!
Realizing its been awhile since I've had a really bad headache.

Things I am thankful for:
Cameron's safety!
Getting to spend the holidays with my loved ones.
Discovering World Market and Homegoods. They are nice places to get gifts for others.

2lb loss

I lost 2.4 lbs this week. The number on the scale really surprised me as I have stopped exercising this week and not been eating as nutritiously as I should've been. Course, I might've been being mentally hard in myself as a couple of you have pointed out to me. I've been trying to track. I did feel a speed up in my metabolism (if there is such a thing) as I was constantly hungry this week.

Next week I want to focus on the quality of what I eat instead of so much on the quantity. Today we had a family Christmas with Randy's side and I did eat a lot today without restraint. I tried to choose healthier options but ate a lot nonetheless.

I'm going to try not to let work zap me of my energy so much this week.

Things I am thankful for today:

Try to remember that exercise GIVES you energy. I know that is easier said than done after a long day of work. I used to think people who worked out at 5 am were crazy, but it is so nice to have it done and out of the way!
