Positivity is sexy and you got it! I am sooooooo on board with lifting heavy at the gym. Infact I miss that almost more than I miss running right now. Lift a few lbs for me! :)

That's how I am feeling lately! Frumpy, squishy and FAT! I seriously get discouraged if I do not burn at least 800-1000 cals aday in exercise 6days aweek. Crazy huh? But tell me not to eat 6 cups of pop corn I might tell ya to f off.
I have some friends wanting me to help them run, circuit, lift etc. One is my neighbor and asked to do some track traing with me 3x a week. She is heavier then I am and I can effortlessly jog and chat while she is panting and puffing along. BUT I love that she is doing it and encourage her everystep of the way. I am NOT a judgemental gal and LOVE when others start to run. I tell her to run her run and I am there for her(mind you this is an extra workout for me, or i get there earlier and run a few extra miles at my pace). She commented the other night to some friends that she was having such a hard time running and how I seemed not to be winded at all. I reminded her that I looked and ran just like her when I started at 217. She seems to be very motivated.
But all this is making me think...how can I be there for her or others while I am still fat??? Yes, fat. My waist has gone up 3 inches! I blamed it initially on my marathon training, now its just blatantly over eating.
I have cut back on carbs, my long runs are not over 12 miles so I do not feel the need to carb up for these.
I have begun to be CLEAN again
my carrots are rockin'
Home made cabbage/radish sauerkraut
So yes I am fat(er) and I may not be in a position to be a beacon of light for others but I am working on it.
I sweat my ass off at the gym
I benched 45 dumbbells today and it made me realize that I am one strong mo fo and maybe some of that "fat" is muscle
I can still run pushing the babies
And you know...my thighs still do not touch...boyah
I am gonna make the fat girl a fit girl
Sparkle friends

i think as women we tend to be really hard on ourselves, truth be told at 220 i am a lot fitter than friends of mine who are 135, it ain't all about LBS and inches, it is about conditioning. help your friend and feel proud that she looks to you for advice and guidance, that is a pretty special thing. i really love your clean eats - keep rockin it lovely!

It's hard to see yourself in your new skin once you've lost weight...evidenced by the many responses of "you're not fat". Additionally, even if you were fat, you would be the perfect person to lead another "fat" person into healthier lifestyle changes. In my experience, I have seen more people have success with people they can identify with (male/female/fat/skinny/fit/not fit). You understand what they are going through, because you've been there. What better person to help someone else out of the ditch that they just came out of? Report Inappropriate Comment |

I want to point out that you have achieved the Holy Grail of success after 35: thighs that don't touch! I swear, in the past two years, my weight has moved down on my body... during my half marathon, I'm lucky my underwear didn't catch on fire from them rubbing together. Like RHIANN said, you're at my goal! Allow a little celebration for being so fit and strong. you're living a healthy life. Report Inappropriate Comment |

Love, you are far from fat! However, how we feel and what others see are completely different. You can certainly motivate and be inspirational to your new friend. Share what you have learned.

It's SOOO hard to look at your new body and realize you look ROCKIN'! You look fantastic and NOT fat at all. I've been looking in the mirror with clothes on and feel like I look normal and thin. But when I look without clothes I still feel FAT! Ugh! You are beautiful and look fabulous. Keep up the great work!

OK, no offense, but now I see why my BF gets mad when I say that I still feel fat. Girl, you look amazing! But I do know how the internal fat girl stays with you and makes you feel like a fraud. But pssst...just so you know, she only lives in your head. Maybe THAT's your extra weight! Keep spreadin' the Spark! Report Inappropriate Comment |

Here you are calling yourself fat, when you are my goal. Thighs don't touch, can run, eat clean. All things I am currently aspiring to do or do consistently.

It honestly kills me how much you put yourself down. You are gorgeous. That is what your friends are responding too. They see you as you are, not the distorted way you view yourself. I struggle with the big girl syndrome too. We are just really tall. That is not something to be ashamed of my friend. You are stunning.

You ARE NOT fat!!!!!!!!! It is crazy how our minds are and we can't always see ourselves as others do! But I definitely understand what you are saying though...if you have goals and things you want to acheive for yourself you are taking time out of that to help others...because her workout doesn't challenge you enough. If you can make a good balance to do both an extra mini workout for you is a bonus...if you can't, don't feel bad to speak up for yourself! Show her the basics and let her fish on her own...

My husband just recently became a tutor for social work classes for some athletes at the university he is attending. He will graduate this upcoming year with a degree in social work. Even though he has not obtained his degree yet he still has more knowledge about the subject than the students he is tutoring. His grades were so high that the university actually asked him to tutor. You have the knowledge and experience to help this girl with her goals. You've been there and done that. You may not be where you'd like to be but you are leaps and bounds ahead of others. That makes you qualified to help others. And what is even more awesome is that she sought YOU out. You didn't go giving her your two cents on weight loss. She sees how great you look and wants to be in on the action. You are motivation whether you feel like it or not. Own it girl!!! :) Comment edited on: 6/18/2012 3:06:09 PM Report Inappropriate Comment |

While you may feel as though you are fat (I don't see it - you look great), you can still help the girl. The reason I say this is because you've been where she is now. I assume she is just starting out, and at one point, you did too. She'll need support because it gets rough when you don't see the changes immediately. So, you can definitely be a great support system for her as I am sure she will need it!
