Maybe this time?

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

I've been doing good and lost quite a bit on my own lately. I'm going to try this again and see if I can stick to it better and lose even more. I work full time in the emergency dept where I live, part time on an ambulance and am a full time student. I do all that while still taking care of my family. I'm very active at work, but am very tempted by junk food. I've been watching it, but I need to get better. My '6pm cheddar popcorn' addiction is getting out of control.
My husband is buying a boat and with summer here I need to drop some more #'s... I'm strong and active just carrying an extra layer of fat. LOL. I'm about the same weight that I was when I was last on this site the difference is that I have a lot more muscle on me now. I'm 4 sizes smaller then I was when I started this, but have more to go.... Here we go... Time to hit it hard!

Here I go again

Thursday, November 10, 2011

What a busy summer. This summer was hard on my waistline. The meds they had me on upped my weight, with the kids home I didn't get my workouts in as much, but now it's time to get serious again. I do this every year. I'm tired of the up and down. I've started my new job as an EMT and I need to be healthy as much as I can. While working the food situation isn't so good - you don't get much time to eat and when you do it's usually something quick and unhealthy. I've started taking my lunch but I don't always get to eat it. It has to be something that isn't refrigerated and can be kept in my backpack. Usually food comes from the hospital cafeteria. Drop off a patient, run to the cafeteria for a energy drink and a bag of chips and go to the next call. I've got to get stricter on myself at home and make up for the unhealthy shifts. At least I'm active at work. LOL. Not much down time. I got to stop making excuses and take care of this problem. I'm not going to be a patient going in with a heart attack at 40 years old!!! I got to fix this now!!! Enough is enough!!!

It's the same way with nurses. No time to eat right and medical people above all others should know better. Take some nuts with you or string cheese. Slim Jims or jerky.

I passed my EMT practical skills exam today! Yahoo! All I have left is my written test for National Registry and I am officially EMT certified! Feels good to be done (almost)! I am confident I'll ace my written test since I haven't gotten any grade lower then a 92% this whole semester. Big weight lifted! Was a stressful test and a stressful 3 months but totally worth it! I feel very accomplished!

Been a while; Finally feeling better

Saturday, April 23, 2011

I have been fighting endometriosis for years. It finally got so bad it was severly affecting my life with no relief from pain pills or treatment. My doctor decided to do surgery in January and removed all she could see but being atypical endo and clear she could not find it all. Two months after the surgery I was still in severe pain and thinking nothing was going to help. She decided to put me on Lupron injections and force my body into menopause. Well, they actually have worked. I wish I hadn't had the surgery and just did the injections! I feel so much better. I don't have any pain at all. I've been able to work out, eat better and be much more active! Due to the menopause I've had some bad emotional issues (moodiness, forgetfulness, etc) and my husband hates his wife going thru menopause at 30 but feeling this good is worth it! I can only take the injections for 6 months. I hope the pain doesn't come back when I am done because it has made such a great difference. In just 2 months I have lost almost 20 lbs! I'm feeling great for the first time in a long time!!!
