Working my ass off, but the ass isn't coming off!

Thursday, June 06, 2013

Ok... this is a get it out of my system VENT.

I have been exercising diligently, putting in some miles on the treadmill, along with a few other things that I'm not bragging about because it's minor... but still... I have been eating healthy. fresh veggies and fresh fruits make up the bulk of my diet, salmon, whole wheat low carb tortilla and an oz of cream cheese make it in on occasion. LOTS LOTS LOTS of water.

My vent is with the stupid scales. I started really doing things right on May 1st... May was awesome... lbs came off wonderfully... June has sucked so far. Actually the last two weeks have when it comes to the scales. I don't show any loss, and there is nothing I'm hiding. ugh.

Ok... I know I shouldn't focus so much on the scales, but I just weight so stinkin' much still. I should have been measuring, too... but I've not been. oh well.

Ok... that's where I am now. No scale victories, but other victories are that I am down a size. I am still sticking with this. My motivation and momentum and overall mood is still at an all time high. I feel great and have been in a great mood every day!! :)

If you're down a size, it IS coming off. I recently went several months with hardly a change at the scale. Then I picked up a tape measure and discovered that I had shed 7 inches, overall. Now that's success. The scale finally started catching up. Hang in there. Your's will too. You're doing well. Keep up the good work.

Can't tell you how many times I have wanted to throw the scale out the window! However, at times such as these, I take out the tape measure and rejoice in the changes of my body! Remember, the scale is not the only measuring tool!

I understand the frustration. I upped the fitness minutes and my scale stopped moving. Huh? I thought it would work the other way 'round! Still, I'm feeling better, clothes are getting looser, and my cravings are pretty much gone. I decided to go a couple weeks without looking at the scale. It's sooooo hard, though! I'm glad you're not giving up. Make you a deal. If you won't give up I won't either.

So glad to hear you are motivated my friend!! Non scale victories are awesome too! The scale is not moving for me either but my rings feel looser, my tummy looks less bloated, and I can put my jeans in the dryer now!! (Just naming a few!!) I know it's hard seeing those number on the scale. We have to remember that they are just numbers!!!
Keep pushing my friend!! You WILL get to your goals!!! emoticon

If you are doing ST then you might be gaining enough muscle to where you aren't showing a loss on the scale. A handful of muscle weighs more than a handful of fat! I rarely use the scale because it really isn't an accurate measure of how well I am doing. emoticon Glad to see you are still doing well and that you aren't letting it affect your mood and that you are still really motivated! emoticon on being down a size! emoticon emoticon emoticon

when excercising it's measured a step at a time, but for weight loss you can go either a pound at a time or an inch at a time. you're doing great and if you're losing inches and not pounds thats ok. cause the fat is turning to muscle. keep the faith Renee'. remember you've got a lot of people that are here for you when you need help

25% gone! Goal #1 ~check.

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

I had put my first goal accomplishment on my status line... but then thought, I should blog about it!

Yep, 28.5 lbs down from my high weight back in November 2012. I didn't really sink my teeth into my new eating plans and exercising until May 1st... did lots of try and fails over and over again over the last few months... with little success, yes, but that bouncing up and down the scales is so depressing.

I don't know what made it click, really... it just did. I've been on an UP mood this whole time... looking to be sexy again, looking to feel great again... visulaizing myself at goal... (Wooo! I look good! LOL!) j/k

anyhow, whatever it is I am ON PURPOSE keeping it. :) I'm not letting this motivation go!

One thing I can say I've been doing... instead of eating, I'm listening to music. New music, old music... I'm loving it. I have always loved music... but there is so much good music out there that I have just been ignoring. No more. :) So when I feel like walking to the fridge... I put on some tunes and dance! :)

Have a wonderful day, sparkers!!!

here's one of my fave songs: Fall Out Boy - the Phoenix
www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hDZbroaQDc

the louder the better.

sexy...

Thursday, May 09, 2013

Y'all have seen me use this word a lot lately.... here's why:
I have changed my way of thinking.... I'm not looking to lose weight, I'm looking to be sexy again. With sexy comes healthy and vice versa... so I'm on the right track.

Looking at it this way has really changed my drive and persepective on this weight loss thing.

It's working for me!

I just want my sexy back. :) And I'm going to get it!

Feeling good about things now.

Monday, May 06, 2013

Thank you to all who helped me put things into proper perspective.

I took advice: I looked at how far I've come.... I've lost 20 lbs!
I broke up the goals into 4 chunks... I am really close to meeting the first one, that will be 25% of my excess weight GONE!

I'm looking and finding motivation in all sorts of places... quotes, pics, music, success stories, sparkfriends... I am on my way!

Wow, 20 lbs is a lot, if you sat a big container on your kitchen counter or floor (so you would have to walk around it) and filled it with 20 lbs of fat or sugar and added a pound each time you lost one you would have a visual of your Accomplishments. Or maybe buy 1 lb cans of Crisco and line or stack them up some were.

You could also try focusing on small measures you can actually control. You can control what you eat, what you drink, how much you move, and your positive/negative self-talk. Your body controls your weight changes, and only partially based upon on those factors.

Ask yourself: Did I eat healthy foods in good portions today? Did I drink lots of water and little caloric beverages? Did I exercise and move more than I sat sedentary? If you meet these healthy goals daily and weekly, and had more successful days each month than less successful days, then you're doing a good job. Then it's your body's choice about the weight changes. This means putting less emphasis on the scale and more on the parts of your life you can control.

I need a boost... or something...

Saturday, May 04, 2013

I am getting discouraged when thinking about how long it's going to take me to reach my ultimate goals. I keep telling myself not to be discouraged... the time will pass anyway and either I will be there... or I won't... and I want to be there, but at times it makes me want to just give it up. I don't want to be fat forever... but I'm feeling restless. Any tips to keep me going? I regularly search for motivation through quotes sayings and success stories...

I'm feeling scatterbrained! emoticon

Help.

One step at a time Renee'. You string 2 steps together and that's motion. Motion is momentum. Momentum can be unstoppable (Buddha said that, or a fortune cookie, I forget). You have a lot of people at home and here to lean on. Do it. Chew gum when you think you're hungry, find a reason to move. Get to where you're happy. F*ck Cosmo and the heroin addict model. You don't have to be a size 1. Just be where you're happy. And we all know there's nothing sexier than a woman with curves emoticon

What I find more motivating than focusing on that distant far away end goal is focusing on my weekly goals of getting cardio, getting yoga, and eating right. Would some stickers help? I do have silly stickers for kids and a cheap calender from the dollar store. I know its silly, but hey, why be serious all the time?

LIVING4HIM_INWI 5/5/2013 12:54PM

Hang in there and keeping going step by step. For me it took a long time to see results, but I kept going because at least I knew that I was getting healthier. I was doing a lot of work, eating better and working out all with no weight loss and no inches lost, it was frustrating. But I kept going and finally the weight and inches were changing. Then in 1 year, I dropped 4 pant sizes. So it will happen for you, just keep making better food choices and limiting the amounts, keep pushing yourself to workout, find something fun to do, keep drinking water and keep on with everything, it will happen for you.

I've been stuck for a while and not really pushing to drop anymore and when I did get serious, it didn't work. I've heard about shakeology and looked into it, tried a sample and ordered it. I have lost 5 more pounds in a month, my goal is for 10 more. But the best thing is that the vitamins and all that is in there is really helping in so many more ways, my nails are stronger, my hair is really growing, both good signs that the inside of me is doing better too, plus I'm not needing as much sleep. If you want to know more, message me and I will help you out.
Take Care & Keep Going!
Michele

I try to look at it as a % - for example, if I want to lose 50 lbs, and I've lost 10 lbs, yes that means I have 40 lbs to go. It also means I've lost 20% of what I want to lose - and think how you'd feel if you could buy everything for 20% - doesn't that make those 10 lbs look like a huge accomplishment???

Sometimes it helps to look how far you've come more than how far you have to go.

Also, forgive yourself. This isn't an all-or-nothing deal. Every small change you makes matters. Try writing down a list of the small changes you've made or the better decisions you've made this week as compared to what you would've done in the past. Did you eat a healthier meal? Did you move more? Did you say something kinder to yourself? Looking at the positives instead of the negatives (how far left to go, what could've been done perfectly, etc) can be helpful.

I think all of us have gone through times of discouragement. I know I have. I try not to let it go more than a couple of days before I choose to exercise or get my eating back under control. I have finally reached a point where I can look back and see the progress I have made.

You have made progress too. The rewards of feeling better and being able to do more are worth working for. Focus on what you can do. You CAN do it.

Hi there, I know just how you feel! I'm just starting out on my journey & my ultimate goal seems so far from me. If you have a look at my spark page, you will see that I have broken down my goal into more achievable chunks. Maybe that would help you to stay motivated too?

It is a long road and it can be hard to stay on track, but as I keep telling myself, any positive changes are going to help rather than harm you, so we just have to keep going and eventually we will reach our destination! Best of luck :) E_F x
