Last night, the cheese puffs and chair won...

Bad me... my favorite cheese puffs took over last night... so over the calorie limit I went. But today is a new day!

I have eaten lunch and I am at 2 fruit servings and 3 veggie servings already! I brought a salad with a bit of pepper jack cheese, turkey and dried berries with carrots & hummus on the side and an apple for dessert.

I had my usual breakfast of banana, a carb and a yogurt with coffee. I am looking at having one of the rolled cookie stick things... they are only 50 calories.

I also reset my goal to drop from 152-142 by June. I also need to get my feet on the treadmill. But last night was honestly the first evening I have just sat in a month without cleaning something.

I did get up to see the kids' mess in the kitchen from their gaming session last night... ARGH! Papers, soda cans, remains of snacks, pens, pencils, dice and other debris all over the table. And they are all over 17. Some are nearly 30... and they just seem to have a problem cleaning up after themselves. Torks me off big time. We need to the daughter and her husband to launch so they can learn to take care of themselves and each other without leaning on us and taking us for granted.

Adjusting adjusting. I am ready to have an empty nest. This is very hard after a year of living on my own and keeping things (generally VERY neat) as I liked.

Tonight! On the treadmill. The good news is that the new part to fix the incline is on its way to us, so we may actually have full functionality soon-ish, but not before my 5K.

It is looking like it will be in the mid-30s on New Year's Eve for the run. I still have to work most of that day, so I will be coming to work in my running gear with carbs for loading. I just get to leave early so I can drive back home, park and otherwise get situated. Purple will be the color of the day for me! (It's my favorite and makes me happy.)

Let's go for getting the goals met today: only one sweet carb, 5+ f & v, lots of water (8+), TREADMILL run..., control of evening snackage... OK! Let's Do This Thing!

UPDATE: I managed to stay in calories, and did my treadmill run... I had a few more small sweets, but didn't overdo it. Met f & v and water goals. I will chalk today up to success!

    Well the cheese, crackers, pepperoni, peasoup and bread won over me at lunch today...so don't feel so bad! emoticon I felt like the bottomless pit! Attributing it to the slow post-holiday detox that goes on every year....tomorrow will be a better day than today!

Keep on adjusting as you do so well!! You will get to those goals - no problemo!!

Keeping it Real for 2013 and not just watching my life go by.

Okay, my weight this morning after a week of indulgence and decreased exercise is 152. It's not fatal, but it is up. It's in the range I have been maintaining, but that is still higher than I want it to be. So my Christmas present to myself is to get back on track.

I just have to stop watching my life go by and get back to living it. I think it's been easy to not focus where I need to with all the things that have been going on: the holidaze, coming home after a year of mobilization and the readjustment that comes with it, etc.

It's the little things to start on... and so I will get started. I think limiting myself to one sweet treat will be good and make sure I eat my 5 a day. I can do these goals. And my first challenge is hard and fast... run as much as of that 5K as I can without stopping. I would like to beat my previous time, which basically means a sub 30-minute 5K... and I did manage to run the whole 3.1 miles on the treadmill last night.

A bigger goal for 2013, apart from losing the 5-10 lbs, is to run a 10K.

I also plan to blog more frequently than every 4 mos!

Update: New goals check @ 1245: I am at 4 servings of F&V, I have had 2 sweets. 5th glass of water going down.

Plan: 3.1 mile run on treadmill mimicking the race route as much as possible tonight.

emoticon First off, I hope you are all having the most blessed of holidays and are looking forward to a new year full of promise and new adventures!

emoticon Gee whiz, I haven't blogged in way too long... it was something I kept meaning to get around to... so here I am. Eating way too much during the holidays.

emoticon My Christmas present to myself is to start tracking my food again, FAITHFULLY! I have gained a few pounds and lost them repeatedly... so that's not really a problem. It's back to accountability city for me. Yep, must get back on that horse. HELP!!

emoticon I got done with my time at Ft Hood and have been home nearly a month already and am still trying to get back into the swing of things. I think a lot of things have contributed to my procrastination. I was just trying to get through my last months of my mobilization and was kind of concentrating on what needed to get done, as well as the usual frustrations of impending change.

emoticon My dad passed away in early August after a steady decline during the 7 years since my mom passed. So I had emergency leave and was glad I made it home. I had leave in October also and got to be home for my granddaughter's 1st birthday, my birthday, my son's orchestra concert and just a good slice of relaxation. The weather was mostly lovely, so I got some good runs in.

emoticon At the beginning of October I discovered the Fitbit. I have been very faithful in using it and I love it. The way it syncs with SP is nice, except every calorie that it calculates you burning is counted, so I think it overclocks your calorie burn... or at least doesn't separate your burn from BMR, so it really needs to be taken into account. I think the best parts are the total calorie burn, the sleep sensor and calorie gauging when you work out... it also works as a pedometer. The online tools are very handy for seeing you progress overall. I also got myself a Garmin GPS watch, which I LOVE. It is the coolest thing to see how elevation, speed and heartrate all work together.

emoticon But now I am back home and trying to get things re-established. I am kind of missing the warmth in Texas that allowed me to get out and run this time of year... but it still gets too dark early, no matter where I am. So having a treadmill is a must.

emoticon I now have 6 days until I run the First Night 5K here in Columbia. I am sort of dreading it and yet looking forward to it. It will be a challenge, to be sure, due to both the temperature and running on elevations. I was able to run 3.1 miles straight tonight, but that was flat. I would be running with inclines, but that part of my TM is currently not working and we are waiting on a new circuit board to make it possible. I also have a cool new outfit to wear for the run, all in purples, blacks and greys. It's supposed to be in the mid 30s. emoticon

emoticon I don't know if I have any great insights, but my new year's resolution is to stay in the successful 10% as I complete my 5th year in maintenance. emoticon

    Welcome back to Mid-Missouri. Even if I don't make it to Columbia on the 31st, I'll be thinking of you! Congrats on your maintenance; I never made it more than 3 month. This time, once I get there, it WILL be different. Thanks for being an inspiration that we can do do it!

Despite my stiff calves from running in my Fivefingers on Saturday, my body really wanted to run tonight, so it was onto the Treadmill for me. I did:

1. Walk 4 mph x 5"
2. Walk 4 mph/5% x2.5"
3. Run 6 mph x 2.5"
4. Run 6.5 mph x 1"
5. Run 6 mph x 2.5"
(Repeat 2-5 3x)
6. Walk 4 mph/5% x5"
7. Walk 4 mph x 5"

4.11 miles in 49 minutes, 458 calories burned!

I am also within calories for food.

Super good!

I am so sore and have huge blisters from running in my Fivefingers yesterday that I had to take a day off from working out... but it is the first time in ages that I have managed 6 days straight. I also am munchy today..

But if I can keep up with even 6 days per week of good eating and exercise, really I will be happy.
This past week proved to me that I still know now and can regain control when I need to. I think that is more what it's all about.

I got so intent on my spinning a new skein of beautiful yarn yesterday, I flat out forgot to blog. However that made my shoulders and arms very tired and sore... so Jillian is going by the wayside today too. 15 straight hours of carding wool and spinning it is sit-in-place stuff, but still works the arms. I still had a great calorie deficit last week and was down to 148.2 this morning.

The spirit of the goals is there, though, and I think they are serving as a reminder and guide. I still hope to complete my nearly 60 days shred!

  Way to go with your 6 day straight workout and everyone needs a break! Wow, as it is a life style change. Your body will defnietly let you know when it's time to relax and rest.     I agree about the rest day, it's a good thing to rest those muscles after 6 days of working them out! Jillian can wait!

Never got blisters from my 5 fingers, but they do make socks for them, maybe that would help? I used to get blisters in my hiking boots all the time until I switched to better socks.

Are you planning on making something wonderful with the yarn?

    This is that rest day we are recommended to take, right? It sounds to me as if you have done plenty this week, and both need and deserve to take it easy for a day. Carding wool is no joke. That almost qualifies as "circuit training" all by itself.
