I should QUIT

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

I don't make New Years Resolutions, but if I were going to make one, it would be to quit the gym that I pay for every month and never go to. Hundreds of dollars down the drain every year and yet I can't seem to make myself walk in there and QUIT.

I have a desk job, so I do make the effort to exercise everyday, or at least I try to .. a 2 mile walk most mornings and a least a few RAE's every day (I just learned that acronym, Random Acts of Exercise.. I like it, and I do them!! lol) .. and my goal is 10000 steps/day according to my Fitbit, and I'm pretty good at meeting it....so I'm not inactive! In fact I have an incredibly busy life and my excuse is that can seldom seem to make the time to go to the gym. But the reality is that I hate going alone!

I had good intentions when I joined 3 years ago.

Should I quit??

I did it, yes... I quit... and I refuse to think about the $900 I wasted!!
Now, lets see if they actually stop withdrawing the funds off my credit card... LOL

Yep. Quit and use some of the money you save to reward yourself for keeping up with your other exercising :)

Yes you should definitely quit paying for something you are not using. I am sure there is much better ways to use that money, You are doing well with the exercise you are doing and it is all free!

Personally, I would quit. Take the extra money and put it in a savings account for a "rainy day."

If you don't use it at all, I would quit. Some people do better at the gym, others do better at home. I am more of a home person when it comes to exercise. There are so many things you can find for home exercises online or you can make up your own. Either way, you can lose weight without the gym. My biggest issue with the gym is I always feel like someone is judging me and I don't feel like I know enough about which routines and things I should do to help me lose weight. I don't want to do things thinking they are helping when they are not.

That's a question no one can really answer for you, it's your decision. The best I can say is, if it were me and I was paying hundreds and not going I would quit. I'm not in a position financially to waste money (unemployed :( ).

You are getting your walking in and your RAE (I love that btw!). I am not in proper shape to even attempt a gym workout, so I'm starting with walking, I do 3 miles (15 minutes each) with my walk at home dvd. Normally I get up, shower, come downstairs, and that's it until I go back up to bed. Now, even if I don't have to, I go upstairs 4 or 5 times a day. I know, not much, but it's 5 flights more than 1 and I count it as exercise even if there is no way to log it.

I would weigh the benefits of having a membership you don't use against having the money to spend on something else (maybe some at home exercise equipment, like weights or a video).

Keep us posted on your decision!

OMG - I literally JUST had this conversation with my hubby! I have been paying for a membership that I haven't used in 2 years. WHY?!? I keep saying I need to make time to go back, but I haven't and I just keep paying... We're in the same boat!

Day 106: 42 days since my last confession, I mean blog.

Wednesday, November 06, 2013

Okay... blogging is not really my thing, but I can concede it's value if only because it makes you 'think' about what you are trying to achieve.

I reached my first weight loss goal of 25 lbs in my goal time frame.. whoo hoo!! I feel GREAT!! But..

I set a new goal of another 10 lbs, and I lost 4, then gained 2 back in the past month. Maybe I've been celebrating my first goal more than I should have. Ugg. emoticon

Also, I just realized that I need to make myself another Signature Photo.. I really don't look like that... lol

Day 63: Bought a FitBit Flex

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

I often don't have time to go to the gym, so my goal this month is to get those '10,000 steps' in consistently. I had a little clip on pedometer, but I bought the FitBit hoping for more consistency and more accuracy. I'm finding the 'sleep' info is VERY interesting.. lol. Plus it gives me more credit than I gave myself on my fitness tracker.. but I suppose it doesn't matter as long as my method of recording is consistent. I only have 3 lbs to go to reach my first goal. Wish me luck.

I love my Fitbit Flex too and the sleep part is very interesting. I never realized what a restless sleeper I am. It is such a great motivator to get me moving every day! Congrats on reaching your first goal!

Day 47: Spark Ap Disappointment

Sunday, September 08, 2013

I was camping this past weekend and was prepared to use the Spark Ap on my Galaxy 3 phone for the first time.. I was disappointed. I found it cumbersome and could not access my "Groupings" that I use constantly. Guess I have to do some research on it's use.
However.. on a positive note, I had a GREAT weekend and even managed to stick with my eating plan.. whoot!

Day 40: Plateau already??

Monday, September 02, 2013

Rather than set a long-term weight loss goal which I figured would seem to large to ever reach, I set a short-term and hopefully attainable one. That was 40 days ago.

First few weeks were incredibly successful ... I was excited and motivated... but to be honest, I was depriving myself of things that I knew I'd not give up forever.. ie: my Happy Hour beverage. I decided this was unrealistic, so I started having the odd one, still watching to stay within my calorie allowance.
However, for the past two weeks, I've stayed at exactly the same weight... I've not lost a single pound. Could I be plateau'ing already?? Hmmm...

However.. I'm not unhappy as I'm still on track for my weight loss goal. Also, people have started to comment on the weight I have lost and I feel better for it. I suppose I should be happy that at least I'm not putting the weight back on!!

September is a new month.. so my goal for this month is to get more fitness into my schedule, hopefully that will put another dip on my chart!!.
