Well the weather around here as been all over the place it does feel, at first it felt like winter would never leave then it seemed like we'd be getting spring only to wonder, then we see the blisters of summer and now back to spring like weather over over tones of winter still hanging on it does seem/feel.
We've tried to start our garden for the summer but its looking like it won't be happening with the weather we've been having - or its how its feeling since the couple cold snaps we have killed or damaged some of the fruits and veggies we where trying to grow (we do try to bring them in at night, but we've forgotten once or twice).
But despite the interesting weather we've been having we're still managing to get out and of course walk, walk and walk some more and I am still trying to get my mate to agree that we need to get our bikes together and start going for short rides (with a goal of longer rides as the season progresses) but N keeps saying hir's worried about having an epileptic attack while riding and I'm like so what you drove your car for years had your attacks and that didn't stop you from driving, at least here we have bike paths so if anything happens you'll not be in traffic, so much safer all around.
Oh well, I am sure in short order we'll be out there riding just going to take a bit longer (its already been a fe years since N got a new bike to ride and has yet to do so), at least I am hopping its soon, i'm itching to get back riding for my own health and for a way of showing N some of this great city and parklands that are easer to get to via bike then walking or taking local transit.
My only personal issue is my glucose control and going low while out biking - something I deal with when working by drinking regular pop and power aid (which I don't like doing but haven't found another way of keeping my levels up above mmol 3 during work, yes I do have vega bars and other food stuff but work is very physical and even after setting up I can find myself at mmol 2.3 and I'll have started at mmol 8 before setting things up).
Oh well take care everyone, will keep things posted as things happen.

well past week plus I've been having good numbers, enough so that I keep forgetting to take my meal time insulin (which is good and bad)
I hope this keeps up as it means I'll have better a1c when I see my endro in a few months time!

Well today has been an interesting day to say the least, took my lantus as normal going to bed thinking nothing of it, took my normal dosage of 100 units that I've taken for the past 6 months and for the first time ever got woken up at 6am with an extremely low glucose level that I've never had before was at mmol 2.2 (mgdl 39) talk about not thinking straight, took me I don't know how long to get my fingers to work my meter and my brain to even think and I know I wasn't fully thinking straight because if I had been I'd have woken N up instead of taking half of hir can of caffeine free pepsi and going back to bed. When I woke again to my alarm going off at 830am I tested out of habit and was at mmol 4.5 (mgdl 81) not the number I was expecting to see but at least better then the one that had woken me up.
Anyhow had my standard breakfast of GoGo Chocolate Quinoa with Soy Milk and Coffee with soy milk and agava syrup (291 calories and 50 grams of carbs) normally more then enough to get me though even a minor workout, yet today not the case .
N and I arrived at the Gluten Free Expo here in Toronto and I tested again just to be on the safe side and I'm at mmol 5.6 (mgdl 100) not bad for an hour and a half after eating considering I didn't take any humalog like I'm suppose to. Well we go around the expo looking at what is on offer and buying a few things plus getting a few things for free we spend about two hours wondering around the floor of the expo looking at things and talking to people, soon enough we decide to head out and get some lunch, so we head over to the mall. On the way there I check my levels again because my tummy is screaming at me that its starving which tends to mean I'm going low and sure enough I'm at mmol 6 (mgdl 108) so half decent not to big a number still in the safe zone, so we head to the mall and to Urban Hurbavore our ultra fav place to eat in the mall given a chance.
Urban Hurbavore is a Vegan eatery that has several locations within the city, they also have on offer gluten free baked goods and other foods. We ended up ordering a Salad Bowl between us made up of Kale, grated carrots, grated beets, whole mushrooms, bbq tofu, chickpeas, sprouts, and red onion topped with their in store made from scratch Cranberry Ginger dressing. The image doesn't do the size of the salad any justice but needless to say its large the bowl itself can hold about 64 oz of fluid and the salad is intended for a single person but divided between to people is still very filling without being over stuffed (comfortably full is how we think of it).
We did go back and buy dessert…
I got their Mocca Vegan Gluten Free Cupcake
N got their Vegan Gluten Free Mini Cake
Both tasted great and according to N hir cake tasted just like its smaller counter part, which is nice to hear (yes did take a nibble, but can't compare it to the counter parts since I haven't had one do to the gluten and dairy involved in its production).
So after lunch we started to head home only to get side tracked with side effects of something I'd tasted at the expo that soooooooo didn't agree with me on many levels (which means what ever I'd eaten had dairy in it) at any rate when we got home I tested again since it had been two hours since eating lunch and to my surprise I was back down to mmol 6 (mgdl 108) having tested at mmol 6.6 (mgdl 119) just before eating. I was a little shocked because with lunch I'd had a full no ice regular large coke from McDonalds (its their dollar day deal for the summer going on) and that alone should have spike me into the early teens (200s) at best but apparently not today for what ever reason.
Not had dinner as yet, as neither of us are currently hungry but dinner is going to be Home made French Fries (yes potatoes that we cut ourselves and fry up in the skillet) with mixed veggies (not sure which veggies yet have to see what we have).
So all in all a good day glucose wise, one that I was so NOT expecting to be this way considering how the past week has been with my numbers being all over the place (though never higher then mmol 11 [mgdl 198]) at any given point in the day.
Well take care everyone, post more as time does allow for it

Well work went well save for the fact that the office ordered pizza for the staff and though they did order a gluten free pizza for two of us - I wasn't able to eat it because they forgot that I can't have dairy so it left the pizza up for the only other gluten free person on staff (and according to him the curst was close to cardboard - which isn't uncommon) but it made me glad that I'd brought left overs from dinner.
Everyone was like but its Gluten Free pizza, you can have it and I'm like um no its got dairy on it (aka the cheese) it was good thought about what they did for us, but sad at the same time since again was made to feel left out of the group (sides an annoying thing is that the pizza sauce the place actually uses contains dairy, plus a world of a lot of the toppings as well, such as their olives, pepperoni, ground beef, etc - how or why I have no idea, but according to their site they do, really makes me wonder then again a lot of pizza places their toppings are not diary free outside of some of the veggies).
A few clued in as to why at the dinner I ended up having the chief out to the table to talk - because after I had told the wait person that I couldn't have dairy along with it needing to be gluten free the chief was involved (seem's if you say gf its a what ever mentality but add in another allergen or allergy to the mix and they seem to take it more seriously for some strange reason). They where like so that is why he came to talk to you and I was like yes. I'd talked to someone before arriving to make sure there would be more then a naked over priced salad to be eaten.
I know my own lunch was likely more healthy in the long run since it was in part left over toppings from yesterdays dinner over rice - not to healthy in general, but better then the lack of healthy toppings on their pizzas I am sure (one order of pepperoni pizza and the other was a supreme pizza both from pizza nova). ::Shakes head and sighs to myself::
I'll admit them having pizza has made me won't to make my own to have it - but grrr I passed up the chance to get the base for it on the way home today (that I I'm not a fan of Udi's to start with) oh well I'll figure something out eventually in its regards that or the craving will disappear in short order (i can hope since its only been a week since I made my last one from scratch).
Well take care everyone,
