Not been around much of late

Sunday, June 16, 2013

Not been on SP much of late, mostly because been going though a world of a lot when it comes to what I can or can't eat and its been driving me a little nuts - that and some of the comments from fellow members was less then nice or understanding so thought it best to take a break from the drama.

At any rate, still not back fully and am still trying to get enough into me - weight loss right now is as it is (standing still and yo-yoing) the main issue is lack of funds (no work) thus a really tight budget and finding what I can eat on that budget. In short eating without Dairy, Gluten, Soy, Nuts, Coconut, Fish, Corn or Citrus. Yes it does leave a lot open in general, but on a budget that has to feed three adults its been a struggle and its also meant that I've gone down to one meal a day with if lucky a couple snacks. Which means yes I am starving most days, but functioning because I have no choice in the matter.

My daily deal mostly consists of...
Breakfast = Coffee with Dairy Free Whitener and if there are left overs from lunch/dinner (most of the time not that lucky)
Lunch = Meat with one or two frozen veggies or vegan salad with vinegar/oil dressing
Dinner = nothing, less there is extra in the house to allow for it or left overs from lunch
Snacks = Sodastream drink and all the water I can drink, if really lucky will be able to have a slice of dairy free gluten free bread might have jam on it but mostly its plain

My diabetes has been not happy with me and trying to keep it in check with the insulin hasn't been easy since I know part of the issue is lack of proper food. I'm shopping for the deals as possible so my mate and I tend to have Riblets couple times a week (because a pack of them is between 1 and 1.50 and tend to have enough meat on them for the two of us with some left over for later), and ground beef is another semi staple doing up our version of taco's (meat, spices, rice, lettuce - no shells).

Yes I've seen a dietion on the matter and she's still trying to figure out a "plan" that will work for me within the budget that there is and still be able to feed the other two adults in the family who don't have the food restrictions (so ya having to prepare meals on different surfaces, with different utensils - its becoming a little much).

Post in time, take care everyone

No pop yet this year

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Well its been since christmas since I got any pop - as in actually bought a bottle of the stuff or a case of it. Now I use to buy a 12 pack when ever it was on sale, since for the past 4 weeks plus has been every week that its been on sale (half price or better). Yet I've not had the temptation to buy it, yes I've thought about doing so but I've not had the craving for it that I once did.

You see for Christmas my husband and I got the SodaStream for our family in the hope that it would actually cut down on our actual soda drinking in general - mostly to save cost then to actually save calories or for health reasons was the reason behind getting it, since we did the math the cost of it over buying pop itself came out cheaper.

At any rate, it was a failure to degrees, the person it was gotten for to help wont touch it and stand stand it on many levels so he's on his own for pop, as in he wont's it he has to buy it himself - which is only fair since we are paying out of our own pocket for the stuff for the SodaStream, instead of using the house funds like we once did.

In the start I wasn't a fan of the stream at all, I didn't like the taste of the stuff that came out of it and well I didn't think much of the flavourings you could get, for all that I love my ginger ale. But I do admit that given time and just going with it, I've just been drinking what I can make from the machine itself, making my own drinks outside of what the pre made stuff that they have on the market. But I've also since gotten into their Cola and Lemon/Lime syrups.

So thanks to the SodaStream I'm not drinking the pop that I once was, which is something I thought I'd never stop drinking for any reason other then a change in an extreme change in formula that would leave it undrinkable to me. I don't have any cravings for regular pop of any kind and I'm noticing that I don't mind the odd taste that the stuff has, even the fizzy water that it can make isn't that bad.

We'll see if we continue drinking just the stuff from the stream or if we do end up breaking the fast and getting regular pop.

It sounds like a good decision. I have heard mixed reviews about those machines, so it was interesting to hear yours. Thanks for sharing.

SP for the New Year

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

Well one thing is for sure I am so going to try and get onto SP more then I have been over the past couple of years (alright I'll admit it since getting married my SP time has gone down till to the point that I log in once a month on average - but my weight hasn't suffered for it).

I'm making it a goal for 2013 that I get back into the habit of logging into SP at least weekly if not a couple times a week and log at least one or two meals just to see how things are going - I know from what I've been logging that hitting anything higher then 1000 calories has once again become an issue and its annoying that do to allergies that what I eat has become more a chore then a pleasure.

At any rate we'll see how it goes, but I know my forum posting won't likely increase as a lot of the posts are receptive and I've gotten tired of answering the same Qs time and time again that area asked in different ways (yes I know not a good thing, but its how its become over the past 5+ years of being on the site).

Well take care everyone, blog as time does allow for it

Making a Goal and Hitting IT!

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Well as I have posted and in my last post I said that i was 5 pounds short of my 20 pound a year goal loss - well that is actually no longer the case I have actually now made the goal that I set for my self each year.

I'm pleased that I've been able to make it two years in a row and if next year goes well as this year (in general) then I'll be 10 pounds closer to my 200 pound goal weight (ya I know doc's still wont me at 160 - but if I can get close to the 200 mark and not louse muscle that I've gained then I'll be happy - as in I don't need to whittle myself down to a BMI weight that isn't reasonable for my body type and build).

Now if I can just get my A1C back down to 7 I'd be all set - what at the doc's on Tuesday I got the news that my A1C was at 10.2% up from the 9.9% four months before so NOT a good thing at all - thus he upped my Lantus that I take at bedtime, but not my meal time insulin.

So next year goals will be to get my A1C lower and to louse another 20 pounds plus find as close to stable employment as possible (this goal I have had for 5+ years now and its still one that keeps being out of reach - but I have hope that it will come into reach one of these days).

Take care everyone!

Weight Loss for the Year

Sunday, November 25, 2012

Well I ended last year by having hit my middle goal weight - so was very pleased.

Yet like all things life happens and some of that was gained back over the course of the first part of the year - then once again things started going back in the right direction and I made the weight again and them went right on past it by 5 pounds.

I'm now sitting at 5 pounds past my mid-weight goal and holding - so baring more medical issues (insulin changes, new food restrictions, etc) the month to come should net at least a pound loss if things go well if not stay the same and end the year as I am now (which wouldn't be a bad thing).

What would this mean? Simple it means I didn't hit my 20 pound for a year loss, but I didn't miss it by much (5 pounds and I'd make it).

Post more as time passes, take care peeps.

You might be 5 lbs short of you hoped for goal, but you are also 15 pounds closer to it and ahead of where you started. Keep at it, you are almost there! emoticon
