Since starting my new job--mainly driving all day far distances,eating a lot of drive through I have gained 28 pounds! In 5 months! My legs are swollen all the time now. I feel like complete crap.
It is so hard to get back into a routine of healthy eating. Junk food is very much an addiction!
I decided today,right now I am going to give it another go to kick this addiction cold turkey.

I have to relearn how to eat again. I have to start packing healthy snacks in a cooler for the car. And fit it some type of workout somewhere. I went from working 3 nights a week 12 hr shifts in a hospital. To working 5 (sometimes 6-7) days a week as a home infusion RN and the distances I drive are incredible--I can drive 300 miles plus in one day some days. I am barely ever home,and when I am there is still calls to make and paperwork to do. I love the job very much. I have a lot of autonomy in this field but its created an unorganized enviroment as far as my weightloss and thrown me off course. I did not prepare myself right. So this is a vow to myself to get this right! I deserve this!

    I have done home health as well.. It was essential for me to pack food/water and keep in the car. Yes I drove for miles...but having the autonomy was worth it! You might wanna seek out some "perfect spots" where you can stop for a while and regroup - do some short walks, stretches etc... Best of LucK!! emoticon

    You can do is all about the choices you make. Keep a cooler full of water and healthy foods for the road. One day at a time, one meal at a time you can do it. Remember total deprivation will not woek in the long haul so figure out what your triggers are and keep those items limited. Treat yourself kindly. You can do it,

I have been really slacking for the past 2.5 weeks. I totally am the cause and blame for this. Time to get back to the routine and no more slacking!

Officially lost 20 lbs!

I tend not to believe my scale but I've been at 240 for 3 days now. My starting weight end of Jan. was 260 = 20 pounds weight loss. This morning the scale was actually at 238.8 but I won't count it just yet bc I've been under the weather and wasn't eating normally yesterday.
This is so exciting for me bc I actually pulled through for myself. I was so nervous I'd quit yet again.
Here is to the next 20 lbs...I am sure it is going to be a much longer journey then the first. Thanks to everyone for cheering me through my ups & downs..I really wouldn't have held in there if so many of you hadn't given me that rope to hang onto.

New Job !!

So I start orientation in April as long as I get my physical,drug screen in asap which I will.
I am still keeping my reg job for now bc this is a per diem position. If I end up liking it a lot then I will prob leave my reg job unfortun I will also be leaving health benefits and a pension plan but in all honesty the place itself is making me sick in the first place. I feel like this is going to be great!

I did have a burger..kobe grass fed beef and honestly wish I had a Big Mac instead...I just have to get it out of my system or wait it out.

Craving Beef

I havent had beef in months!! I dont particularly like it but the past few days Ive been craving burgers. Last night at work I ended up sick with a fever,chills,cough..just yucky. I came home and my youngest daughter is sick..we prob both got it from my son and oldest daughter. I barely ate anything all day and while driving I started to go into the MCdonalds drive thru for a BIG MAC meal..and then I told myself..NO I am not going to do this to myself. I got got out of there and raced home.

    i compared the nutrition facts on the 96/4 beef with bison, which is supposed to be so good for us, and the beef won out. i was really surprised. a lean beef burger on a whole grain bun...lots of veggies. can't go wrong.

    Many people will tell you different things on here, but in my opinion, completely cutting out certain foods is setting yourself up for difficulties. Learning portion control and finding ways to incorporate your favorite foods in a reasonable, healthy way goes much farther towards sustainable goals. My suggestion? Make some beef! Or if you really truly enjoy macdonalds, pre-track some food from mcdonalds such that it fits in with your daily nutrition, and go ahead and eat it. Anyways, take it with the same grain of salt as you do everything, and good luck on your journey!

    Good for you! I don't think beef is as evil as people like to think but when I do eat it I make sure it is grass fed. When I first gave up fast food is was weird for me but then I realized it was more of a habit than I actually liked the food. Then when I researched what was in it that was the last straw. I am proud of you for making the best choice for your health!
