Hey Guys... Happy Summer!!!

Tuesday, June 01, 2010

I am in a joyful mood, as I have been for a while. Fitness is part of my life....I've have gotten to a point where my thoughts aren't consumed with everything I eat and how much I burn. You know what I mean...exercise and eating clean are more natural to me, like brushing my teeth.
I am truly enjoying life. The weather is warm and were spending a lot of time outside and I'm in the pool so much more this season and I plan to keep it like that.
had a great Memorial Day weekend with the family and i am truly going to take the time to enjoy them. my kids won't be babies for long so this summer I plan to keep it light with lots of fun. We aren't planning a big fancy vacation this year ) with all the renovations) but it might be the best summer ever....

I have to vent....

Really... what's up with these fitness magazines? i don't subscribe to them but from time to time I will buy one to try to incorporate them into my workouts. Well I brought one today and I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling in my stomach about all the advertisements. Grant it that all magazines are full of them and that's how the magazines get their sponsorship but come on?! Every other page is an ad for some "thermogensis" fat burner, hydroxycut, stacker, etc... This is crazy. I have been working hard at trying to make my body the most healthy and i think i've done well but looking at these ads is disturbing especially if they're in between an article about eating clean. To each his own... I don't know if they work or not but I could see how these companies make billions off people. And as my sp friend mentioned to me why is Jillian Michaels selling them? What is going on? Why can't health and fitness magazines be sponsored by organic farmers and the american diabetic association, food and drug administration and every one else who keeps telling us to eat healthy and exercise? I hate getting mixed messages. Okay... i feel a little better now. emoticon

Those products like hydroxycut and lipozene DON'T work. Those two products specifically have had several names over several years to try and cover up their bad names. They trick people who want the easy way out into thinking they can take a magical pill to burn fat. Truth is, you can't. If there was one, everyone would have it!

Hydroxycut and Lipozene are also linked to many severe heart, and liver problems. Many people have gotten ill from those types of things! Not only that, but hydroxycut contains a drug variant to speed! There are people who ended up in the hospital because they had a hear heart attack from taking it!

All of those supplements are bad news. I'm still surprised that they're allowed to be sold and even more surprised that magazines promote such products! I guess it all boils down to money, and if you have it, you can do whatever you want :(.

...because the pharmaceutical companies have the cash and the organic farmers don't, hence the all the ads.

i agree it NEEDS to change!

Haha. Good point but like everything else... it is all about the money. But good work, keep it up and don't get discouraged by stupid adverts. Sounds like you are doing the right thing by ignoring them anyways.

Hello all

Sunday, May 02, 2010

How is everyone doing? I am doing great. My kitchen will be finished tomorrow and then I can focus on other fun things! Home improvements are time consuming but I think for the way it has brought my husband and I closer... it was well worth it.
My little one still has her cast one. She she's the doctor this week and hopefully her leg has heeled. Children are amazing. She has learned to climb and run with that cast one. i have never seen an adult with the courage to do that. It's doesn't seem to bother her as much as it is bothering me to keep it clean , dry and intact.
I started getting my older daughter (3) into some activities and I realized that I am now her official chauffeur! She has swimming and ballet in addition to piano lessons. It looks like a lot but she seems to enjoy them all. I am living vicariously through her as my mother never put me in ballet; just jazz and tap. Her recital is coming up and she has had picture day and dress rehearsals... I think this is one of the best parts of having a girl.... watching little girls in their little tutus... too cute!
In the midst of all this I have been making time for myself. I have been very good with my nutrition and I have committed myself to workout for a minimum of 35 minutes every day. Currently I am doing zumba for cardio 4 days a week with insanity 2 days a week. I am also doing 30 day shred 5 days a week because I like the compact 22 minutes. What's new? In May I will be focusing on my abs and butt. I brought the brazil butt lift and I like it a lot. My butt really feels this workout.
I have been trying to do my cardio in the a.m. with strength training in the evening. This works for me about 80% of the the time and I am ok with that.
My kids aren't in elementary school yet but i can't wait for school to be out so traffic can lighten up. Gotta find something to do for Memorial Day...... Talk to you guys soon! emoticon

Glad you are doing well. I have missed you. Keep up with that Zumba. That's one thing I have never tried and I think I would make a very good observer for it. No doing, just watching for me. LOL

Not so quick catching up!

Thursday, April 08, 2010

Hello all... okay most of the major renovations are about done and I'm taking a break to enjoy the progress before going on to the kitchen! It has been a very first 1/3rd of the year for me.
My fitness goals are on track and remain the same... to see my abs by summer. I haven't been pushing as hard because i've been sore from the home renovations but this week after months of being on the fence I finally bought ZUMBA for some cardio excitement. I love it because I don't feel like I'm exercising at all but I am breaking a sweat. I also started p90x for my strength training again because i think nothing will ever make me cut if p90x doesn't. So in a word my body is hurting! It's okay though.
My baby (1yr) has been limping since Saturday and we took her to E.R. and they did x-rays which didn't show a fracture. But she continued to limp so I wanted her pediatrician to se her. She confirmed the limp and referred me to pediatric orthopedics. I called the office and they told me the next available appt with the doc was June 10th! That's crazy, so i found my own and sure enough she has a fracture. They casted it and the moral of the story is you have to be the advocate for your loved ones. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello Everyone.... and Thank you

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Hi guys,
I have missed writing about my days these past 5 weeks but the reason is that I have been tackling some home improvement projects around the house. The problem is I didn't realize how much work I had ahead of me and still have!
Okay so this year I had it my head that I would learn to fix more things around the house rather then calling contractors... you know the people you call and then they give you an outrageous estimate with no finish date.. you know what i'm talking about so I just started... I started by taking the God awful wallpaper that has been plaguing my eyesite since i moved in 8 yrs ago.... they didn't prime the walls before applying wallpaper so I have to repair drywall and sand before even beginning to paint. Disgusting drapes I took down and then patched all the holes from that. I am in the process of tiling a floor and redoing a bathroom and renting a ladder to paint walls attached to 12 foot ceilings, which also have to be painted and i wanted some crown molding.....
I am not a contractor, plumber or tiler or painter but I have become these things because I am a home owner. So, you can see where my free time( what's that?!) has been going. No, I have not quit my job!
My eating has been spot on because my days are very long. I've been doing 30-40 min of 30 day shred 5-6 times a week. I am maintaining my weight just fine but I really need to kick it up some just so I can catch up with ROXY'S abs! I am loving this weighing in monthly thing because I feel that I have complete control and freedom over my food choices without thinking that I'm going to be disappointed by the scale. This may not work for everyone, but right now it works for me.
My 3 yr old started ballet and tap last month and she is loving it.... I am enjoying being a mom right now.
I hope to finish my renovations by Easter and then i can get back to other aspects of my life like SP!
Thank you for nominating me as a motivation. i am truly humbled and will try to live up to this honor.

WOW! Are we going to see you on DIY TV anytime soon? My DH watches home improvement shows constantly. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) he doesn't try projects himself. You should be really proud of yourself. You don't need no stinkin' workouts -- that contractor work is hard enough!

You are awesome! As a decorator, I know what you are going through. You can save a lot of money but it is a lot of work too. A lot of my client's are removing wallpaper and the walls behind, are well, like you said. Start all over. No wonder they are not buying more of it. Keep going! Think of all the exercise you are getting.

Great job. I did all and more with the townhouse I owned. I also learn plumbing and electrician stuff. It was fun and felt good once it was all done. All the work you are doing is one big workout in itself. Hope you post after photos so we can see all the great work! I've missed seeing you around. :)
