Good Morning

Good morning. What a beautiful day it is today. Today would be beautiful no matter what the weather is outside. Why??? Today is the start of another 5% challenge and I'm rarin to go. It has been exactly 4 weeks since the last challenge ended and I have lost 0.4 pounds since then. For the time in between challenges, I try to maintain. I think that is good practice for when I reach my goal weight.

    I'm glad it is starting today as well. I used the club's scale here and I am praying it is just a totally different read because it seemed high, but if not.... more work to be done.

Exercise and Freggies

The shingles have really sapped my energy. I think I am pretty much over them. I have tried to walk 25-40 minutes the last week. Today I walked 30 minutes and was exhausted. I feel like I should be able to do that at 74 and am not looking forward to trying to get back in shape. I think I will try to break my exercise up into 2 sessions a day.

That is enough of that. This week on our Daisy challenge we are supposed to try to eat 5-9 servings of freggies. So far I have eaten 5 for 2 days and 4 for one day. Yay for me!!! I think I may be eating too much fruit. On the Daily Nutrition Feedback, the graph where it says we should be eating carbs for half our daily carb/fat/protein breakdown, I have been eating about 3/4's of total in carbs. I guess I need to cut back on the fruit and increase my veggies.

Some day I may get this figured out lol. emoticon

    emoticon It is a process (figuring it out); never ending I suspect. Sounds like you are doing great to me. I'm sorry you've been dealing with the shingles, I somehow missed that. Glad you are on the mend. Regardless, I've found spacing my exercise out in 10-12 minute sessions throughout the day has been very beneficial. I think it's keeping my metabolism rev'd up. Of course I have longer sessions when in yoga class or gardening and on Sugar walks. But those 10 minute sessions early in the day get me going. Be well.

Busy Fun Week

Looking forward to another busy week. Yesterday I had a wonderful Daisy Day. Thanks everyone.

We went to Red Lobster for dinner and then to the Community Concert. It was A Tribute to John Denver. He looked and sounded a lot like John Denver. It was a fun evening.

Today a friend is taking me out to lunch for my birthday. We will celebrate with family on Thursday evening.

Went to the gym yesterday. Did the bike, treadmill and then did some weights. Will go again tomorrow and either Friday or Saturday. In between we will just walk.

Have to work on the office in between times. Somehow it is a catchall for everything. It needs a good cleaning and getting rid of "stuff". Love all this sunshine we have been getting. It is giving me spring cleaning fever. DH loves that!

6) Do you need some motivation or advice? Ask for it!

Thankfully eating and exercise are going better than they have since the end of the last challenge.

I just got back from a 2 mile walk OUTSIDE. It is 64 degrees and beautiful out. The sun is shining and it felt so good. Life is good.

5) What can you improve upon?

Planning meals so I can get enough veggies and fruits in. I have been getting about 3 most days with occasionally 4 or 5. I want to get at least four or 5 every day.

    I know the feeling! I never get enough freggies in my diet!!!! I have so many issues with veggies, totally envy people who eat them like candy! I have a friend who knows how to sneak veggies in everything-someday I'll learn!!! If you find some good recipes, don't be afraid to share them!!! emoticon

    I fixed Romanesco tonight for the first time. Delicious! It is a cauliflower, but green and has pointed florets. Actually, very pretty. Steamed it and tossed it with ginger and orange peel mixed in a little melted butter (very little)! I wrote out my menu this morning and made sure I had everything I needed! It really helps to plan.

    Good idea! I tend to eat on the fly. Meaning I open the fridge and take out what I need. Not planning makes for easy cheating on myself. Thanks, I will work on menu planning. This will make for an easier shopping list, too.
