Day 5

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

5) What can you improve upon?

Planning meals so I can get enough veggies and fruits in. I have been getting about 3 most days with occasionally 4 or 5. I want to get at least four or 5 every day.

Planning meals and know what your intake will be relieves a lot of stress and also running through the fast food drive thru. emoticon emoticon June

Fruit and veggies give us energy, have low calories and help us have a radiant, well-hydrated and smooth skin!

I know the feeling! I never get enough freggies in my diet!!!! I have so many issues with veggies, totally envy people who eat them like candy! I have a friend who knows how to sneak veggies in everything-someday I'll learn!!! If you find some good recipes, don't be afraid to share them!!! emoticon

I fixed Romanesco tonight for the first time. Delicious! It is a cauliflower, but green and has pointed florets. Actually, very pretty. Steamed it and tossed it with ginger and orange peel mixed in a little melted butter (very little)! I wrote out my menu this morning and made sure I had everything I needed! It really helps to plan.

Good idea! I tend to eat on the fly. Meaning I open the fridge and take out what I need. Not planning makes for easy cheating on myself. Thanks, I will work on menu planning. This will make for an easier shopping list, too.
Have a great day!

Day 4

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

4) How are you doing day by day?

Iím improving. That is why I love this challenge. It motivates me to do what I know I should be doing. My exercise minutes have increased. This week I am staying within my calorie range. Sat. & Sun. I went slightly over. I am weighing and measuring almost everything.

Good job! Weighing and measuring helps a person be more aware and in control of what is going in their bodies and you will find your confidence in your food choices growing by leaps and bounds! I love my food scale and my measuring cups! Keep up the good work! emoticon

Sounds like you are doing well with the challenge. Things are still a little too unsettled around here for me to start anything new. I'm still training the new person at work and trying to catch up on everything I got behind in. My husband is retiring at the end of the month and we're not sure what each day will bring. I don't think there will be too much that changes but we won't know until we get there. Both my grandsons have birthday in the next month and I've got to make them new western shirts. I know these are all excuses and if I really wanted to do the challenge I would just do it. I guess I'm just not ready for something new to do right now.

I wish you luck with yours. Keep up the good work.

Staying within range is no small thing! Congratulations on doing that consistently even one day a week. You increased exercise to make up for the little bit you went over. It's all good.

Days 2 and 3

Monday, March 04, 2013

2) How will you do that?
Be very careful with my snacks, also weighing and measuring. Using a Spark friend to keep me accountable with my tracking.

3) What are you doing to encourage yourself and keep on track?
What encourages me the most is my responsibility in helping the team and knowing that I am getting healthier.

Recap of last week

Saturday, March 02, 2013

Finished the first week on the 5% Challenge. I increased my exercise time and am starting to get my eating back under control. That is a big thing for me. I lost just under one pound. I need to loose one pound a week to meet my goal.

I would like to make a habit of eating within my calorie allowance 6 days a week with only going slightly over the other day. I only went over 2 days this past week but the rest of the days were in the middle to top end of my calorie allowance. I canít increase my exercise time. By last night I was exhausted, so I need to be more careful with what I eat this week.

Good for you! I agree, getting eating under control is key!

My grandson is 8 ... Very cool to see him choosing the Bible over the many storybooks in my guest room. This is a Cikdren's Bible, but he had started at the beginning and was reading right through! I should do the same!

Have a great week! Susie
