Audubon Trail

Friday we went for a walk on the Audubon Trail. What a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and there was a slight breeze blowing. It was soooo peaceful. We saw a mother owl with two babies up in a tree. I think she nests there every year. There were no mosquitoes or bugs. Who could ask for a better day!

On track - AGAIN

My weight has fluctuated this year. One pound up, two pounds down. For the last week I have been on track and hope that the yo-yoing is over with. Iíve lost four pounds so far this year. Hoping to keep on the downward spiral.

Had an echocardiogram today. Should find out tomorrow if it was okay and have a Drs. appointment on Monday.

    Good for you! I HAVE to track--to stay on track. I'm a pencil and paper tracker, habit developed before sparkpeople. Difference now is that I also track protein and fitness minutes where I used to only track calories. Hope you get a good report from the Dr. Be well.

I think my scale needs a check-up.
It canít be weighing right.
In 1 1/2 weeks I have lost 4 pounds.
That canít be right.
I have never done that.

    Watch for trends ... But know you must be doing something right! Is any new medication affecting water weight? ( I'd have expected a gain possibly with blood thinners). Did you miss a lot of meals when you had your hospital stay? Hope it stays gone! Maybe God just knew you needed encouragement right now! Hugs, Susie

    Maybe it isn't. Our bodies can fluctuate a lot according to many factors. When I weighed, I would weigh every day and average it once a week. I had a lot of fluctuation, but it averaged out. If I had weighed on one day of the week, it would have looked like I gained. If I had weighed on a different one, even if it was the same day each week, it would have looked like I lost an awful lot.

The most important thing to measure is your habits. If you have kept to your habits,, trust the process. emoticon

Back Again. YAY!!!

We have had a few exciting days. Iím not sure exciting is the correct word, put they were sure different. Went to the ER Thursday with heart attack symptoms. It turned out not to be a heart attack but a blood clot in my lung.

I talked the Dr. into letting me come home today. The RN said the Dr. had planned on keeping me until tomorrow but I talked him out of it. I had to learn how to give myself a shot in the stomach twice a day. It is amazing what you can learn to do when you want to go home bad enough.

I have to take it easy the next 2 weeks so I wonít be getting any exercise in other than walking around the house some. There goes my 1000 fitness minutes. Iím afraid it is going to take awhile to build myself back up after the Dr. okays it.

There is good news too. I feel very good, especially when I am sitting in my own recliner Ė smile. It is so good to be back home. I have so much to be thankful for. I am so thankful it wasnít my heart. My DH is wonderful. He spent the whole days at the hospital except for an hour or two. He wouldnít give me the shots though Ė laugh.

It is good to be back with my Spark friends. I have missed you. At least there is nothing to keep me from Sparking unless it is because I will be slower doing things around the house for awhile.

    Oh my goodness Yvonne! I am so glad you're OK. That had to be a very scary experience. Take it easy, and get some rest. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you'll get back to your 1000 fitness minutes a month, once the doctor gives you that all clear.

We are all so thankful that you do not have heart problems, however blood clots are not so fun either. Praise God you were able to get the help you needed and you be sure to recover as needed. Obviously the 1000 minutes/month is not important, cuz we want you to be batting 1000 in your health!!

Team Challenges

I am finding out that the team fitness challenges motivate me to do things I donít normally do. One team had a challenge of push-ups. You start with 1, or wherever you are at, and then add 1 a week. I didnít think that I could do any but found out they werenít easy but could be done. I was up to six push-ups when they stopped. I havenít done any since then. Need to start another challenge.

A team this month is working towards doing so many fitness minutes as a team. My goal is to do 1000 minutes this month which will help them meet their goal. I have only made it to 1000 minutes twice in two years at SP. For me that is a stretch but I will do my best to make it.

A couple days ago we had to get the GC off to school. I walked with them and we moved right along. Took the long way home and got in a 30 minute brisk walk to match a brisk morning. Went to the gym in the afternoon and got in another 50 minutes. That was a grand total of 1 hour and 20 minutes. WooHoo!!! It even felt good to be walking in the cold morning air. It feels so good to find out I CAN do more at my age than I thought I could.

I'm challenging everyone who has not joined a challenge to join one and see what you can do.

    You are amazing Yvonne! Glad the challenges motivate you to continue forward in your activities and choices. I'm thinking you can focus on the 1,000 minutes of fitness, especially with the weather getting nicer so you can add some walks in too! And...keep working on those could re-jump that challenge on the CCW team!!

Great blog. I feel one of the wonderful ideas on Spark are the teams. I think a team goal is a great way to encourage a person to try something new or be motivated to improve . You have shown that with the push ups and now the minutes. You seem to be very motivated and believe that you can do the 1000 minutes
