Decisions

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

The everyday decisions that I make can have a big outcome on what I do and how I feel. Yesterday I decided to work on cleaning the office (our catch-all room) before I exercised. I got a lot done and enjoyed doing it, but then I didn't "feel" like exercising so I didn't. Now that should be okay, shouldn't it?

Went out to lunch with DH and mom. Had a nice enjoyable lunch. Went home and watched the Olympics that we had recorded. Felt down the rest of the day. . emoticon WHY??? emoticon Because I did not exercise. I know that exercise gives me energy and makes me feel good. That is why I do it six days a week and have been faithful about doing it.

Today is the start of another day. HALLELULIA!. I am going to the Life Center and exercise today. Can't wait to do it. I'm looking forward to doing it. I'm excited about doing it. I can't say enough good things about it. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I hope I have learned my lesson. Looking forward to a good day. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Ps 118:24
24 This is the day which the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Isn't it truly amazing how the body LOVES exercise?! We don't believe it but the body tells us so. Keep up the great work. I was at a church weight support group meeting and I mentioned this very thing and an older woman just laughed at me. Another woman confirmed it as she has lost 80 pounds since last summer. She loves to exercise now. I haven't quite found the LOVE of it but I do know I feel much better.

I know if I just start a workout (even a very light one) when I don't feel like working out I usually feel better & am able to finish it.
Good for you letting yesterday go & working to make the better choices today!

The Spark chapter 2

Monday, February 22, 2010

I read chapters 1 and 2 yesterday and spent time thinking about what I really want out of life. Being 70 does not mean that I don't have goals and dreams. Three seems to be a magic number, so here are my three: be healthy and fit, to have a close walk with God, to have a close relationship with family. What I want to accomplish in each of the goals are:

1. Healthy and Fit: - I want to loose 35-40 pounds to be able to keep up with my grandkids. I want to eat more fruits and vegetables. Starting out with 2 a day. I got my 2 in yesterday because of setting this goal. Feel better about myself.

2. A closer walk with God - I want to have a quiet time every morning to read my Bible and pray. This is easy because I am already doing it. I also want to think more about God and what He wants me to do during the day. Thinking about friends, including Spark friends, and what I can do to help and offer encouragement to them will make this easier.

3. Have a close relationship with family. There are several ways that I need to work on this one.
a. Spend time really listening to DH and Mom. It is so easy to get on my computer and let the rest of the world go by.
b. Call and write personal e-mails and letters to family that don't live close.
c. Be more transparent.

I am looking forward to the changes being made. Reading Spark articles, blogs and getting encouragement from others has already given me more determination and energy.

I have already started thinking about what I want in my Vision Collage. It is exciting just thinking about it. The more I think about it, the plainer and more detailed it is becoming. Looking forward to accomplishing my goals.

All those are really honorable goals. I wish you well in achieving all of them. I agree, we need to have goals. I have seen too many people rot away by sitting in chairs and watching TV. We are still here and so we need to find purpose. Great blog! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thanks for sharing your goals and comments from the Spark. I haven't purchased it because reading a book is harder than reading on line. Sounds like you are getting a lot out of it. Good for you. God will help you on your journey!

I feel inspired by reading your blog. After reading and listening to chapter 2 twice, I have given my goals a lot of thought BUT haven't put them in writing. I applaud you. emoticon

My first priority is my relationship with the Lord. My next priority is my EXTREME self-care. I am challenge here because I seem to be the caretaker for my family.

I am looking forward to hearing about your vision collage.

Beautiful Saturday

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Woke up to snow this morning. The ground was just bately covered with white with nothing on the streets, driveway, or walks. No shoveling. emoticon

Yesterday I had to have a mamogram redone. They said everything was fine and nothing to worry about. Praise the Lord.

The library called yesterday and said The Spark was in and I have to pick it up. Can't wait to get started on it. Everyone has such good words for it. Just reading what has been said about it caused me to set up my goals and program.

Love this new energy that I am getting from Sparks. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Having fun and enjoying life.

Happy to see that your mammogram came out fine. I think you'll find the book enlightening and helpful to support the site. Gave me more understanding as to the whys. Easy to read and encouraging.

My Week

Friday, February 19, 2010

Whoopee, I get to go work out and weigh today. We went to Chili's for lunch yesterday and went over my calories for the day, but I still think I lost a little weight. I do a Sr. Cardio class on Mon, Wed, and Fri, but I had to miss Mon and Wed this week. Mon I had to go to a funeral. That was the second in a week. But enough of this, I am going to work out with friends and have a good time.

We don't have any special plans for this weekend. Planning to do the Wii Fit Plus at home tomorrow (I did it yesterday, too). It is fun and leaves me huffing and puffing. It is nice to do fun things and know that you are taking care of your body.

Sounds like you have fun in your Senior workouts. We started a weight loss support group at church. Some seem to think they aren't able to do much. Great to see you doing so well. Have a good weekend.

Today

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

I feel good today. The sun is even trying to come out.

Today I will get my cleaning done right away.

Today I will walk at least a mile.

Today I will smile at strangers.

Today I will lift my heart in song.

Today I will stay within my food allotment.

Today I will give hugs, both physical and virtual.

Thank you Jesus for today.
