Is there anything else that I would like to share with my 5% Winter challenge team (and other Spark Friends)?

I only have words of encouragement to share!! I love the spark community and the successes of my fellow sparkers are motivating to me. Every shared mile completed, each pound or inch reported lost is pure motivation to me!!

I LOVE THE SPARK COMMUNITY!!

What can I improve upon... oh boy!

Thursday, March 07, 2013

I missed blogginf yesterday, so I will respond to 2 challenge questions today.

What can you improve upon? Concerning my walking/exercising...

I can improve upon my consistency. It gets rough as the week goes on. Not to make excuses, but working two jobs makes things more challenging. I often think that I should take care of my exercise in the morning and have even attempted to set my alarm 45 minutes earlier. I AM SO NOT A MORNING PERSON!! I end up hitting snooze for 45 minutes.

I need to find a time that works for exercising whether I am working both jobs or not!! Morning could work. I could also utlize my emplyers gym that is right next door to my office, even if it is 15 minutes 2x each day. Perhaps I can try the treadmill today at lunch (I could get 2 miles in ... hmmm)!!

Do you need some motivation or advice? Ask for it!
It always helps to receive motivation!! It is why I log into SP each day!!

I can so relate to so much of your blog! I'm definitely not a morning person but I am going to try to take a very early morning low impact aerobics class starting in June once a week to start. Very early is 6:00 a.m.

The one difference between us is that you work 2 jobs and i am currently unemployed so I have very few excuses not to get my fitness in each day but this week I am definitely slacking.

I have the same struggle with finding a consistent time to exercise. When I do it in the morning I love that and how it starts off my day - but making it a regular habit is so complicated because of other demands on my time that can't be avoided. So I end up fitting in exercise wherever I can in my day. Wishing you much luck! emoticon

I HATE getting up early. That said, I find that if I don't do it, I don't get my workout in. Oh, I will take a walk later in the day, or I will do a few ST exercises before I get dressed, but the gym... Has to be first thing or I don't go. So 3 days a week, I try to get to bed by 10 so that alarm can send me off to my workout. I hate it, but once I am done I am SO relieved!

Building on our consistency will be key! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I think trying to do your work out during your lunch would be beneficial, there's no reason to force yourself in the morning. Plus if you try to you may start to hate exercise if you start sacrificing sleep for it! Keep up the good work! emoticon emoticon

Day by Day?

5% Winter Challenge

How are you doing day by day?

It is how I approach everything... day by day.

So far, for this challenge, things are going well. Last week, I was shy 2 miles of my 10 mile walking goal. This week, I WILL meet my 10 mile goal. I have to because my goal for weeks 3 & 4 of the challenge is 12 miles/week. Like one of my teammates, I want a GOLD STAR for reaching this weeks goal!! :) emoticon

I am enjoying walking and really want to get this HABIT FORMED before the hot summer weather comes. If the habit is established by then, it will be harder for me to make excuses about 'how hot it is outside'!!! emoticon

I don't do well in hot weather, so I agree. It'll have to be a hard and fast habit or under the "stars".

Encourage Yourself!

Monday, March 04, 2013

What are you doing to encourage yourself and keep on track?

Spark recommends that users create motivational and visuals to aid in reaching goals. In order to encourage myself to stay on track with my walking routine, I have created visuals of a former me. I have pulled out pictures of myself, going as far back as high school. Along with this, I am looking at summer clothing! I LOVE CLOTHES SHOPPING!! The thought of being able to purchase a size or 2 smaller is encouraging and I focus on that.

Last, but not least (and I mentioned this before), I am using the Leslie Sansone DVDs to get walking routine started. Leslie is motivation!! emoticon

Retail therapy is always good! emoticon Good job on the walking DVDs. Good job with pulling out the pictures! I've recently seen some of me from about 30 years ago, and even though I wasn't at my ideal weight, I was skinny!

5% Winter Challenge... Beginning to Change

Sunday, March 03, 2013

This will be my first blog... ever... on any social media network. I do not know why, because when there is something to say or learn, I love to share it.

Anyway, as a member of the 5% Winter Challenge, I have been tasked with beginning a simple blog series. This part of the challenge is designed to help us along in during the 2nd week of our 8-week journey.

1)What new habit do you wish to develop?
I would love to begin walking on a consistent basis. This past week, was the first time in years that I actually stuck to 4 days of walking as I had planned. Years ago, I used to walk and really enjoyed it. It was not only exercise, but it was time for me to think (which is why I prefer to walk alone). I hope this week brings about the same success!

2) How will you do that? PLANNING. NO EXCUSES!! JUST DO IT!!! (Leslie Sansone will help me get started!

I used to walk to and from work years ago (before we moved to the burbs) and also loved the alone time. Lots of thinking and just being with myself. I hope you find that again as you build your walking routine.
