I'm so happy to have received my NewToMe Upside-Down Stationary Unicycle
for Valentines Day...
Truly a gift of love in order that I exercise my legs & feet!
You see, I cannot stand or walk for more than 5-10 mins. due to a diabetic complication and so, this apparatus is a godsend to make me MOVE my legs & feet.
I've not stopped peddling since February 14th...and aim to do 60-90 mins a day, from now on.

note: I am starting chair-exercising as well in March...can't wait for that as well...

Ça été vraiment un cadeau d'amour afin que je puisse faire de l'exercise pour mes
jambes et mes pieds.
Vous voyez, je ne peux pas me tenir debout ni marcher pour plus de 5-10 minutes, vu une complication diabétique alors cet appareil est très bénéfique pour faire BOUGER mes
extrémités.
Je n'ai pas arrêté de pédaler depuis le 14 février...et mon but est de le faire de 60-90 mins quotidiennement, à partir de maintenant.

À noter: Je commence un exercise de chair-exercise en mars...j'ai hâte d'entreprendre ce genre d'exercise aussi

New Year's resolution

Reasonable Objectives I gave myself:

1) follow Sparks daily diabetic goals for calories, carbs, fat & protein menues when planning meals.
2) exercise with music and while watching TV
3) go outside to get some fresh air & sun with my dog
4) rest
5) get massages and lazer treatments as much as financially capable.
6) all of the above...not necessarily in that order...lol

H1N1...advice you should know...from Dr. Oz...

The following advice, given by Dr. Oz, makes a lot of sense and is important for all to know:

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions.. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat or bathe.)

3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine or Hydrogen Peroxide if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water, or hydrogen peroxide. *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose softly once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*


5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

    I used a Neti Pot for the first time this evening and cannot believe how much better I feel. It feels like I was in a fog and now everything in my sinuses is clear. And what a bonus if it will help keep nasty viruses away too!

Americans!...for once... something Canadian that comes FIRST!!!

It seems that Americans come first in a lot of things...
1) first to step on the moon
2) American olympians come first way more often that Canadians
3) first to have a black president
4) first to suffer from the economy
5) first to ...so on and so forth...
but for once, Something Canadian that comes FIRST!
IT'S THANKSGIVING!
Ours lands on Monday,October 12th, this year!
Americans have almost another month to go...pity!
We'll be recuperating from our Turkey feast when you'll have just started yours!
but then...I'm a vegetarian!...so am 'recuperating' ALL the time!...lol...hahaha!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, FELLOW CANADIANS!
and I guess; ...you Americans will have to wait before I say it to you!

    Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful! Ours is much too close to Christmas, so there is a whole month of holiday eating to gain back all the pounds we worked so hard to lose the other 11 months of the year. Hmmmm, with New Year's, that's 1 1/2 months of holiday eating.

This year my husband and I are on a cruise from Nov. 14 - 23. I'm going to do my best to eat vegetarian, and lightly, so that doesn't become 2 1/2 months of eating!

    J'ai fêté mon PREMIER Thanksgiving au Canada... et le dernier, il y a 9 ans, je crois, aux Etats-Unis. C'est au Canada que j'ai découvert ces délicieux pains de maïs, le tarte au potiron, et la sauce aux canneberges. Miam!

Good news about my kidneys...such a vital organ!

I have just received the good news from my kidney specialist that my kidneys
are fine! They have been compromised for quite a while and he was even afraid I might have to go on dialysis...well!

I attribute the great announcement to diligently following Sparks; tracking my meals and following the diet to a 'T' in June to a point of losing 9 pounds.
I drank 8 cups of water for the whole month missing only two days where I drank five.

I was 'experimenting' to see what the results would be as I'm a skeptical person by nature & wondered if it would have a negative outcome on this vital organ...how wrong I was !!!!!

...Now this gives me the push I needed to be more faithful to what this site proposes

Thank you Sparks and all those who support me in my quest for better health!

To finish, I would like to add, for those who have kidneys that are compromised, as mine still are...I just read that cherries help rid of toxins in the kidneys.
I have made it my daily goal to drink 2 0z. mixed with 6 0z. of water everyday.
If you are NOT a diabetic, you certainly can have more but since they are highly concentrated with sugar, I have to lower the dosage.
I don't particularly enjoy the taste but it's a small price to pay for the benefits it will give me...
Hopefully, I will help other people writing this!

I think I have made an impact because the doctor made a note to tell his patients about this site! and was amazed to find out that it was free!

    That is wonderful to hear. My hubby is dealing with impaired kidney function...we're going to have to try the cherry juice. I've got him drinking the 8 glasses of water a day!
