Please pray for me...

Sunday, February 20, 2011

I've been on Spark 7 months and I had my first major BLOW IT night last night--not slightly going over my limits but eating and eating and eating.

I had cheezits, wheat thins, popcorn, and graham crackers with hot fudge on top. I just wanted to snack and snack and snack!

I feel so defeated! I feel hopeless and feeling like I guess this wasn't it after all! All kinds of negative thinking going on here. Plus, I really don't feel good. Sore throat and headache--getting what the kids have.

Please pray for me.

Thanks!

Today is a new day a new beginning. Yesterday is the past. Forgive yourself, allow yourself to fail and yesterday was just that. We all do that - I know I do. You are just like the rest of us. Tell yourself that it is okay to have these moments. But they are just that moments and they pass.

But it is now time to get up, dust yourself off and begin anew!! Today it is time to get on track again. You go girl - you can do it!!!!

Praying for you, Susan! You will feel better in three days! (Usually takes 3 days for the hangover to wear off...)

As far as the binge.... That is what grace is about, isn't it? We make mistakes.... Proverbs 24:16 says, "For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity."

You will totally be able to get back on the wagon tomorrow!! Totally!!!

You've made so much progress AND you will continue to make progress!!

Just 'cause you lost a battle doesn't mean you lost the war!! What's done is done; go on from here. Just like when we sin and go to the Lord, He forgives and we get up and keep going. You blew it, so what! Get up and keep going. Except in your case, take care of yourself and get over whatever it is that's making you feel sick! Love you.

Dear Susan, I agree with what everyone has said. You should be proud of yourself for all of your success. One day out of all those months--I wish I could say that. Sweet Susan, think of all the days you have done GREAT! Forgive yourself and get right back on the Healthy Journey! I will be praying for you to
feel better and not get what your kids have. I also want you to
know that I am praying for your Home Schooling. Please realize that we all have had days that we have fallen. I have had many--like I said I wish I could tell you I only had one day but I have had many. You are doing Great!! The LORD knows your heart
and I know you have an heart for The LORD! May The LORD give you HIS PEACE AND HIS COMFORT!
GOD BLESS!

Drink a glass of water before you put anything in your mouth. Pop a stick of gum in and you have to think about throwing it away before you put something else in. Hugs! Hope this helps some.     Oh, Susan, hang in there and don't ever give up on Jesus, or yourself or Spark People! I'm "recovering" from a time of over eating and snacking that lasted about 3 weeks! The great part is, that even when we do have a bad eating day, or days, or weeks, at least we are "blowing it" in a much healthier way than we used to! Even when I over indulge, I still try to mind portion sizes! I'm not always successful at that, just better than before Spark People!!!

Susan, you WILL be fine and you WILL STILL reach your goal - so what if it is maybe one day later? Once you reach your goal, you may be so elated that you won't even remember this temporary set back!

Love and emoticon emoticon,

Oh sweet spark friend, I am sending my arms right around you for a big hug! I know how it feels to lose control of what is going into my mouth and the defeated feeling that comes along with it. I am truly learning through the bible study I am in, the Made to Crave book I have read and all of the wonderful sisters in Christ here on spark, that our mistakes do not define a thing about us! Sometimes, the world and ol' mr. devil pop in and sabotage us for a short while. This gives us the chance to reach out with desperate arms, and soul to the one that truly loves us! If we never struggled, how could we experience the joy of surrendering it to the glory of the Lord!?

I pray you are finding the power of His incredible mercy right now and are back to that place of strength that you have been showing all of us spark gals! You are not only an incredible inspriration, you are a shining light for Him!

Hugs and Love,
Cathy

(BTW, you're food choices at least over all were good. I trying to help you see the silver lining in this.) Have I been perfect since then? NO WAY. In fact, when we had a family situation occur last summer, I put 13 pounds back on. But just as God is merciful to us, we need to be merciful to ourselves and continue to use the tools we've been given. This is one of those pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going kind of days. Blessings to you my dear sweet & precious friend, remember His mercies are new every morning!

So many times I've had a day like that and it continues for many more. The thing is what everyone says, you need to forgive yourself and start fresh. The number of calories you ate won't really add much in the way of fat( 3500 calories for 1 pound) but sometimes I gain a couple of pounds in one day( not even eating that much ). Water isn't fat and it leaves quickly. DON'T let this defeat you, you have done so great and we are all here to support you. Pam

Thank you for reaching out in truth. I did the same thing today. I dear friend of mine once shared with me a truth that would change some painful places in my heart that I had always kept under lock and key: She said, "Amy, what you hold in darkness, God cannot work with. What you confess and bring out into the light? God can work with it." Today when I blogged, I asked for God to come and help me with my eating and weight loss. Today when you have confessed your evening last night, I pray now that He meets you here in the same. The devil would love it if we would both feel SHAME, a tool of His, and then hide ourselves from God, just as Adam and Eve tried to do in the Garden of Eden (the Garden of Eatin'). Let neither of us do that. Instead, we turn our hearts again towards God and say, "not by my will, but by Thy Will can we live..."

I am with you today in prayers of thanksgiving and seeking renewal. And God will bring us both!

Amy

Face Brushing

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Well, I have banana smeared all over my face--first in hopefully many 'at home' and 'cheap' facials! emoticon And then I'm going to do my face brushing. I'm also going to start body brushing again. I guess it's VERY good for the lymph system.

Here is a good article on face brushing:

Valentine Party….and more

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

We had a very nice Valentine's Party. Here are some pictures.

My son Jonathan [16] just finished his PROJECT of all projects. Took him 56 hours to complete; 11 different types of woods; and almost 600 PIECES to cut! It's a masterpiece and I'm very proud of him. He's getting ready to build a website to start selling his projects, and he is entering this project into the local art fair in March.

Our lollipop session was a bust so we were going to try again today. I told that to Sammy and he LOUDLY said, "THANK YOU JESUS"! What a character! Well, our SECOND session was equally a bust! I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but we've decided to BUY them when the occasion warrants a lollipop! emoticon

See you tomorrow. My computer day off this week is on Thursday.

{{{{{love and hugs}}}}}

Makes all the DIFFERENCE...

Monday, February 14, 2011

This was very informative and helpful--slideshow about healthy eating and living.

www.webmd.com/food-recipes/nutrition
-labels-10/serving-sizes-slideshow

I've been really pondering this quote:

"You can get control of your tasks and activities only to the degree that you stop doing some things and start spending more time on the few activities that can really make a difference in your life" Brian Tracy

WOW: spend MORE time on the FEW activities that can really make a DIFFERENCE in your LIFE! I absolutely love this!

What are the 'few' exercise activities that I can focus on that will give me the most bang for the buck?

What are the 'few' home schooling experiences that will make all the difference in my children's future?

What are the 'few' household management tools that will keep our house running smoothly?

What are the 'few' SparkPeople tools that will be 'just the thing I needed' to help me reach my goals?

We absolutely CAN'T do it all! I was thinking yesterday how marvelous it is that God made SO MANY different trees and birds and each of us has our particular loves for certain ones. Some people LOVE eagles, while others may consider them a nuisance. Some people love pine trees while others prefer the shades of maples. My point is that we must find our niche and not make everyone else's passions our own or feel 'less worthy' because we think differently than someone else on a particular educational philosophy or exercise routine or food choice. Each of us WILL find the PERFECT thing that works for us--those FEW activities that will make all the difference.

In closing, I was inspired by this Simple Truths clip about the 212 degree principle. Hope your spark is kindled today! emoticon

awesome! I made the Vearsity Girls Soccer Team sit thru the 212 degrees slideshow. They talked about how some days your don't feel the need to give the extra effort, slowing I moved the conversation towards how we could do just a little more. Then they set up the challenge to not only get to states again, but make it the Okemos thing that the team will work throughout the year to give to the community. Because the younger kids need to see them at their practices, so that they would give a little more.

Great motivational tool.

That is soooo true. We just can't do it all and do it justice. To try to do that will just drive us crazy. But WE CAN do the few things that God wills us to do, fabulously.

AND -- I LOVE how God has made us all unique and yet valuable! --Each with our own niche -- each with our own set of gifts to give to our families and the world!

I look at your photos AND your ticker and I am inspired!!

Prioritizing can most definitely make things run more efficiently. One household tip that I always like to pass along that has saved me the most time is putiing a couple of damp sponges in the dryer and drying for 10 minutes with clothes that have wrinkled from sitting in the dryer too long. It certainly beats having to iron... beside ironing permanent press clothes can take the permanent press out of them. It is much faster than ironing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

You are so right. One of our biggest hurdles is comparing ourselves with others. This can lead to unhealthy competition.

Once we realize how beautiful we are in Christ, we will stop striving and trust in His Holy Spirit to guide us into all good things that are unique to us.

I appreciated this blog on this hurried Monday morning. I know I can't do it all and I know God made me unique with different likes and talents. More and more I am appreciating this fact.

One of my goals in life is to help others appreciate themselves for who they are, a child of God. Their Creator has a purpose and plan for them and will use their gifts and talents if they let Him. This is also my prayer for myself.

The 212 movie was awesome and I know my husband will be sharing this with his school kids. Thanks.
