Mexican Bread

Monday, January 17, 2011

recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai
l.asp?recipe=1306627

I made this bread today to go with our Mexican lasagna & salad tonight. I added more cumin and a tsp of red crushed pepper and it's DELIGHTFULLY hot! I actually think I'm going to try and find some hot cheese to add next time. And I made it with 100% freshly ground wheat, usually I add a little white flour but I tried it without and it turned out just fine.

Mmmmmm, can't wait for supper! emoticon

Sounds good. I use pepper jack cheese if I want "zing" in my recipes. Good in mac and cheese. I used some of my venison steaks tonight for the boys' birthday dinner. We grilled them outside in the snow and 10' weather. Looking forward to spring!!!! emoticon

If this makes 1 loaf of bread, and there are 55 servings, how big is one serving? Sounds like it would be about a 1" square. Surely you can't eat just one serving??

Haven't done a Mexican lasagna in ages ... might have to try it again! (for just the 2 of us, one recipe makes multiple meals. Maybe next time I have someone over??

Enjoy your yummy dinner - and sharing it with your special family!!

Martin Luther King Jr.

Monday, January 17, 2011

‎"If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well."
— Martin Luther King Jr.

Endurance

Sunday, January 16, 2011

James 5:11 "Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful." NKJV

"Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful." ESV

"10-11Take the old prophets as your mentors. They put up with anything, went through everything, and never once quit, all the time honoring God. What a gift life is to those who stay the course! You've heard, of course, of Job's staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end. That's because God cares, cares right down to the last detail." THe Message Bible

STAYING power…

never ONCE quitting…

what a gift life is to those who STAY the course!

Perseverance is defined as: Persistence in any thing undertaken; continued pursuit of any enterprise begun…

Persistance is defined as: steady pursuit of what is undertaken…

STEADY PURSUIT even if at a snail's pace.

Inch by inch is a cinch!

Choose LIFE today! Choose to take that one extra step! Choose to eat a little less! Choose to MOVE in the right direction! And if we PERSEVERE, we can be assured, just as Job, that God is very compassionate and merciful and we WILL reach our goals.

"For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised." ESV Hebrews 10:36

Victory belongs to the most persevering.

How to reduce wrinkles

Saturday, January 15, 2011

By the Care2 Staff.

Although many of us love our laugh-lines and crow’s feet, those facial wrinkles can sometimes make us look older than we are. So here are two one-ingredient kitchen-cupboard formulas and a few great hints that will help you to reduce or remove your facial wrinkles, naturally. Why pay exorbitant amounts of money for jars of potentially harmful chemicals and artificial ingredients when these tips will do the trick? They’re good for you and your skin, too. Read them here:

Formula One:
The alpha-hydroxy fruit acids in Green Thompson seedless grapes are a great aid for removing wrinkles. (Use organically grown grapes, if at all possible.) Just cut a grape in half and crush it gently against your face. Allow the pulp and juice to remain on your skin for twenty minutes, then rinse and pat gently dry. Repeat daily.

Formula Two:
Go Bananas. Mash 1/4 of a banana until smooth, apply to face and allow to remain on skin for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse and pat dry.

Helpful Tips and Hints:

1. Be sure to drink enough water.

2. Mist your skin throughout the day with warm water.

Susan's note: [LOVED this one!] I guess the skin must need hydration too.

3. A good natural moisturizer will help your skin stay supple. Go to the Skin Care section of our Personal Care channel for some great moisturizing formulas.

4. Get plenty of antioxidants in your diet: increase your intake of dark leafy greens, berries, and other colorful foods.

5. Be sure to include essential fatty acids. Flaxseeds, avocados, nuts, and olive oil can all contribute beneficial fats to your diet.

6. Avoid foods that promote premature aging, oxidation, and poor health. Trans fats are a no-no: read labels and avoid them like the plague (better yet, avoid buying processed food as much as you possibly can).

7. Avoid sunburn by staying in the shade when the sun is strongest.

A few times recently I ended up seeing my face in the mirror while wearing my reading glasses -- oh those lines around my mouth!! emoticon I just bought a $19 'fill in the creases' cream - hoping it helps under my makeup. And I realize I should be glad lots of the folks I'm around all day aren't wearing their reading glasses when we meet! emoticon I've got some bananas here -- maybe will try that tomorrow. Need to check our your link and find out how often I should be doing that! Reading another comment about neck exercises reminded me that long ago, in my life as an aerobics instructor, I had the gals pretend they were shaving their face -- works all the small muscles we women rarely use. Time to take my own (old) advice!!
