"One day I am not going to preach or pastor; one day I am not going to be Lauren’s husband or my kid’s father. All the things that define me here will be gone, and I will simply be His... That’s all I really am…His."
WOW! In this world of "mid-life" crisis's and the never ending quest to find out "who we are "...it is so humbling to be reminded ALL we are is His :0)...thanks for sharing this.

OK, I have to "re-comment". I confess that I did not read the whole testimony before the other comment.

This story has TRULY touched my life! THIS is SO POWERFUL to me, because "I" have a TERRIBLE time with prayer!

"I suck at praying.

I didn’t think I did before this. I thought it was a strength, but I was wrong. When you realize that all you are is His, you realize or at least I did, that I don’t stay connected to Him as I have been commanded to. I would spend some time praying in the morning, but my life wasn’t saturated in it. I lived like I put my time in and now I can handle this. So again, I confess that I went into hundreds of meetings over my first seven years as pastor of The Village without asking for direction and wisdom, without asking for power and clarity. Although I knew I wasn’t wise enough, experienced enough or seasoned enough, I went and tried to be what they needed. I have grown exponentially in this area this year and I’m hoping that when I’m done with my race, I would be known not just as a faithful preacher of God’s Word but a man who communed with his Father without ceasing."

WHAT A TESTIMONY! Susan, please, when you pray for ME, please pray that I will learn how to talk to the Lord, as well as listen to what He wants me to hear. I will never forget that man's testimony! Thank you all over again!

Love you, Sister!

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Sunday, December 05, 2010

I still don't feel the greatest, but since the tree was in place [my husband got it ready while we were at the tea yesterday], we decided to decorate. Mary is feeling much better, I just hope she doesn't relapse! Anyway, here are a few shots of our time together today.

Great-looking tree and your daughter is beaming with joy! Hope you feel better soon. My throat has been getting a little raw... am taking echinacea tea (Yogi brand) and am not getting sick! In the name of Jesus!!

Great medallion stating who the Savior is and the reason for the season!! emoticon

Everything is so beautifully decorated!!! I love the rustic look!

Thank you for adding me as a friend as well as the "prize" for the nicest decorated sugar cookies!!!

As far as tips for decorating, these might help you:

I use a corn syrup glaze:

http://allrecipes.com/Recip
e/Sugar-Cookie-Icing/Detail.asp
x

You have to add a lot more milk and water than what the recipe calls for.

Fill a piping bag with icing and a squeeze bottle with the same color, only slightly runnier. Pipe the edge of the design with the bag, let it dry, then fill it in with the icing in the squeeze bottle.

You and your kids will have fun doing this together. My daughter is in her 20s and her friends come over all the time to decorate cookies with me!!

Christmas Tea and Before/After photo

Sunday, December 05, 2010

Had a lovely time at a Ladies Christmas Tea yesterday and ate moderately. SO fun to eat reasonable amounts and feel comfortably content and NOT stuffed or sick from overeating.

I mostly chose savory foods or veggies and one treat--a rold gold whole wheat pretzel with the end dipped in chocolate. And you know what was really exciting--none of the treats looked so good that I *had* to have it! emoticon

--The ladies at our table. There were about 50 women at the tea…

--my wonderful daughter! emoticon

--TWO dear friends!

We played a very fun game and Mary was the WINNER! She was thrilled! The ornaments were the gift!

Finally, I want to share a before and after picture with my dearest friend, Terri. The first was taken in 2008 and the other yesterday. I've lost 47#'s since this picture and Terri has lost 23#'s since the picture.

Assignment #3 Winter 5% goal:

Saturday, December 04, 2010

Today's assignment is to list all the reasons you want to lose weight. What do you want to change? How do you want to look? How do you want to feel? What things will you be able to do in the future with a slimmer healthier body? And list all the other things that you want to change!
========================================
===============================

I guess the biggest reason I want to lose weight is to be the healthiest and most fit person I can be for my family.

How do I want to look? Fit! I want to look nice in my clothes and feel that I've done my best.

I'd like to do more biking with my kids, more intense gardening, more hiking and camping out…

List all the things I want to change:

1. Continue changing my MIND about this journey--it's NOT a diet but a lifestyle! If I eat too much one day, then I'll get back on track either the next MOMENT or the next day. I want to refuse to wallow in the mire!!!!

2. Continue renewing my mind about exercise! SO, SO important and I want to keep on keeping on! Not give up but continually challenge myself to new fitness levels.

3. I want to get rid of all my clothes that are too big.

4. Fill my time with LESS computer and more Sparking [living LIFE to the max...]

5. Start a gratitude journal

6. Make more SparkRecipes

7. Take MORE time to learn new things--excited about all the possibilities of life. Grandma Moses didn't start painting until she was 80 and I want to keep learning throughout my entire life.

8. Do more READING--I really want to read all the Jane Austen books!

9. Learn ballroom dancing with my hubby! emoticon

10. Join a birding club and gardening club.

Okay, that's enough for now. emoticon

A few years back, my DH and I took a beginning ballroom dancing class. We were going to be in a wedding and at the reception the wedding couples were going to do a dance. Well, we wanted to waltz instead of just stand and sway! We had the best time at the classes and laughed so much! And we did waltz at the reception!

I love your reasons...and do take those classes! emoticon
