I set before you this day LIFE and Death…choose life

My girlfriend shared this today and I'm SO incredibly touched! This is the great debate in our country! May we stand strong AGAINST death and embrace LIFE! Our nation is pathetically responsible for embracing a silent holocaust and my heart breaks [and yet, rejoices that she is alive and a powerful voice] over this testimony!!!!

Apple Pie Contest

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Well, the LORD is allowing me a perfect object lesson with my disaster of a pie! ;-)))) It's NOT a pretty sight! My only consolation is it has to TASTE better than it looks! hehe

I've been making pies since I was a little girl by my grandmother's side, but today I had a BRAIN lapse! Seriously, I felt like it was the first time I'd **ever** made a pie in my life! Oh well! It's the fun of going and being among others who also love to bake.

The lesson: I often look at my outer appearance and think all is lost because I don't look the way I want to or think I should look; however, the LORD looks at the heart! And who knows, maybe the judges will find something tasty on the inside! I can always hope, right!

Well, at least I tried, even if it was a dismal FLOP!!!!! emoticon WELL, there is always next year for the contest.

Your pie experience will be a learning lesson to do better next year. At least it tasted great! Isn't that the main thing about cooking? It would have been much worse if you made a perfect looking pie and used salt instead of sugar! emoticon

Isn't it great how we have the option to learn from everything we do, especially if things do not go as planned.

How often we look at the outside, and not the inside. Thank you for the reminder, and hopefully the judges can see past the outside. Good luck.

I LOVE 4 YEAR OLDS!!!!!

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Sammy is so FUNNY! He is "reading" 'Green Eggs and Ham' right now and I'm just CRACKING up! "I do not want to eat green eggs and green ham NO WHERE!" Now he just got to the part where SAM likes it: "I YIKE green eggs and green ham!!!" Tank you…all done!"

Oh, my goodness, the LORD knew I needed this sweet, innocent boy to cheer my heart today! Such a BLESSING!!!!!

I was reading Dr. Seuss to my daughter when she just began to talk as she pointed to the hairy Dr. Suess character and said, "Daddy". He used to put her on his chest to bond with her and he had a full beard at the time. She made the connection between hairiness and Daddy! So funny!! emoticon

Thank you LORD!

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

The LORD showed me TWO things today about my peri-menopause.

#1 Take a 20 minute nap during quiet time [from 1:00-2:00 every day] to recharge and help me stay positive. I set the timer for 20 minutes and I fell asleep and when the timer went off, I got up! I felt SO refreshed!

#2 I've been VERY affected by noise and was talking to a good friend [she is probably 10-15 years older than me and she went through 7 years of HORRIBLE symptoms with menopause] and she suggested using ear plugs now and then for noise reduction. Well, I already have to wear these at night because I can't sleep with my husband's snoring, so I got these out for my quiet hour and I took my 20 minute nap and then read for the rest of quiet time [I just started a book called "Family Worship"] and I felt UNBELIEVABLY refreshed and invigorated.

Then I went for my 4 mile walk and emoticon I FEEL like a new woman!

Thank you so much for all the responses to my blog yesterday and for the AWESOME support I'm receiving in EVERY area from my wonderful SP friends! {{{{love you!!!!}}}}

Susan

Earplugs are a wonderful invention. I've been wearing them since my kids were about two years old. I could still hear them. It just took the edge off. (Well, that and Prozac) LOL!

I'm finding that I'm having more and more problems with noise too. It doesn't have to be loud. It might just be too much, non stop talking or someone has their radio on all day. I thought it was just me being crabby though. Hmmm...I never thought it might be part of peri-menopause. That would explain a lot!

I understand the noise sensitivity, there have been many times when I have used ear plugs during the day. I have used them at night for as long as I've been married for the same reason. I'm kind of addicted to them now. Can't sleep without them.
