The Possibilities Are Endless!

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

I want each of us to think on this as we enter a new month! Once we realize this potential there will be no stopping us!

I’m sure all of us at some time or other have wished for a secret genie or a fairy Godmother. We would like to rub the magic lamp and have the genie of our wishes appears. Who hasn't as some time wished that scenario a part of their lives? Most of us though have dismissed such fairy tale adventures as fantasy or wishful thinking.

Yet wishful thinking might not be so far from the truth after all. The fact is we all have a secret genie. Every one of us has access to an incredible power of desirability. That power believe it or not has the ability to grant our wishes. This energy is not magic or mysterious at all. It is a vital part of who we are and it resonates with a vibration that connects us to every living thing in the universe. The truth is if we chose, we could tap into this energy and attract the things we really desire towards us.

We understand that the mind is an incredibly complex and infinite place, right? That its potential to create and invent is unlimited? We know that mind power or rather our ability to control our minds, is an amazing resource. It can control our fears, and radically affect our determination. It can shape our beliefs and our faith.

Yet what is the mind exactly? We can't see it or touch it but our power and potential to direct it is limitless. It is an incredible resource and it is all yours. We are the people who began this speech avowing that we didn't believe in genies or fairy god mothers. Yet we have something just as powerful and awesome at our disposal - and look how we treat it!

There are other unlimited forces within us that have the power to shape and form our experience of the world too. Ask yourself where your potential comes from. To fulfil 'my potential' is one of life's goals for many people. Yet we act and talk as if there is a limit to it. We talk as if the outcome of life is a matter of luck of chance. What though is the difference between the potential or one person and another?
.
Human endeavour is littered with such inspiring examples. Once something is thought possible, once the mind is set to believing it, it really happens. We live in a fascinating world of constantly changing possibility. The possibilities are literally endless. You have the potential to change your life, with every decision you make.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said that "what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared with what lies within us and when we bring what is within out into the world, miracles happen."
Miracles, magic, spells and wishes all come from inside us.

The Universal Law of Attraction is one way of realising the potential within us to literally create magic and to make things happen. It is a belief that everything in the universe is connected and that we can use this connection to deliberately attract what we want into our life. The realisation of the potential of this understanding to change and alter our lives is immense.

Is it really possible to create what we want? Most of us believe that life works the other way around. They believe that the world deals out bad things to them. It is fairly easy to hear these people, they are everywhere. They are filled with blame and negative thoughts and feelings. To be honest most people think that life is game of chance, and that some people are simply lucky but the majority are not.

Imagine for a minute that you did not believe this. Imagine that by changing your way of thinking that you could actually change your life. Instead of concentrating on the negative, ban such thoughts from your mind. Reach for the thought that feels better at all times. Listen to your emotions as you select the thoughts, the experiences and things that you want in your life. Rather than spending time thinking about all the bad things that you do not want, concentrate on the good. What makes you feel happy in your heart?

Whatever you fill your mind with has habit of being attracted towards you. Focus on the positive and the light. Using your emotions as a guide, begin to focus on the good things that you really want in your life. Create in this space, this time and reality what you want in your imagination. In a way it is a little like entering a term into the search engine of life. Pressing 'go' is sending that thought or request out there into cyber space or the universe. 'Key' in destructive or negative terms and is there any surprise what will be thrown up?

You will be plunged into a whole stream of negativity, hate, doom and gloom. Change the scenario by putting in positive terms and suddenly the universe is filled with people, places circumstance and events brought about by inspiration. Your thoughts have indeed become a reality. The fact is the universe is full of all of these things. You can choose the ones you want to be surrounded by though your own magic wishes. Your secret genie is just another way of describing the incredible power and potential we all possess.

What do you really want? This is vital question. Do you remember the old fairy tales, when upon being granted three wishes, the subject usually responds by blowing the first two and using the third just to get back to normal? You really have to know what you want.
The truth is piles of gold or luxury cars are not what we need or not what we should be asking for. Your potential is more than that. It may be possible that you don't know what you want. You can find out. Begin by listing all those places where you don't want to be. Identify what you don't want. Now turn that around into positive statements that focus on what you wish to change.

Make a list of these statements or desires. They might be things you enjoy or love. They might be things that would benefit you and if possible, others. Visualise yourself doing these things. Make them your secret mantra, focusing on them upon waking and before sleep. Make the connection between the universe and your heart. You might be surprised to find the things that you can put into motion.

You have the ability to turn things around. The universe is listening. Your dreams as you visualise them are taking shape. The search engine of the universe is throwing together all the combinations you will need. You are harnessing the most powerful force in the universe and that is your mind.

Your mind is like the sky. It connects with everything else and stretches to infinity. The connection guided by your emotion links your heart to the universe. There is no stronger or more vital connection in life. Where do these feelings and this power come from? They come from you. It lies within each and every one of us but we must believe in it. If we find ourselves feeling negative, move back to the positive. Learn to focus on our desires and send out our good intentions.

Now comes the interesting part, taking action. Not just action but inspired action. You must allow things to happen and you will not do this by lying in bed simply meditating on good things. The search engine turns up web sites, contacts, addresses information. It gives you all sorts of ways forward and this is what happens in life. Act like you are already there in your mind but of course you have to 'activate' the opportunities being handed down to you. Above all, you must look around you to pick up on the gifts and help that is there.

You must do more than simply hope, you must believe. When you desire with belief it can happen. When you focus positively you allow things to manifest as reality. Yet you must take action. You must ask yourself the question, how can I get to where I want to be? It will require effort and it may even seem to be difficult and yes, you will make mistakes. You will need to look for signs. The universe will be sending them to you but you must look for them, recognise them and follow them.

The rewards if you can do this will be more than worth it. They will be more than plies of gold, or palaces and limousines. They will be a sense of self worth, happiness and contentment for which even Aladdin himself would be happy to trade the magic lamp.

Unleash your secret genie
We all have a genie deep down inside
But most of us don't realise
That we can unleash its magic power
To become happy or healthy or wise.
But if we just realised the fact
That we could do so much more
That life would be full of amazing chances
To opportunity we'd open the door
So try to listen and to understand
That life would be brilliant and grand
If you believed, reached out for the best
That's available, go on try this test
Self confidence, self belief call it what you will
That genie will help you your wishes fufill.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday, September 29, 2008

Whoo Hoo Woke up totally pain free and not an ache in my body I've had to play around with the doseage for the Tylonel Arthiris! Turns out that one doesn't cut it! Not for my pain levels! I have to take three simutaneously in order for the dosage to reach my pain levels! One tablet is already 650 mg! And taking three brings my doseage up to 1950mg! So that just gives me an idea of what my pain levels have been! And believe me to wake up pain free I don't care what the side effects are right now!
Dh on the other hand............up until this morning refused any medication until he saw the results with me SO I finally convinced him to take them as well! He has a much heavier day at work today! I also went down to the drugstore and picked him up a supportive back brace this morning to ensure he had the added support before having to go out on any service calls I can't wait to get off of this Tylenol and onto the Hyaluronic Acid with MSM though It's what our bodies naturally produce! And anything our bodies naturally produce is far better than any pharmacutical company can come up with!

That's wonderful!!!! I'm so glad you're getting some relief from what must have been excruciating pain. I'm behind on this story....do you have arthritis? Ouch....I'm so sorry.

I'm also going to be one more person to tell you that you are taking WAY TOO MUCH Tylenol! It's processed by the liver as a toxin and you can do some serious damage to a critical organ by overdosing. It's fine to take that much once in a while to get a pain level down, but never for more than one day. Advil is better at higher doses, but still not perfect. Aren't there other options for pain management?

Be careful, but I'm really, REALLY happy that today was a pain free day! It's amazing how much our outlook changes about everything when it's not clouded by a haze of pain. emoticon

Please be very careful and consult your doctor or pharmacist. That is way too much Tylenol for your liver. Please call today!

I am very glad you are out of pain though. Nobody should have to go through this.

good luck with yours. you look good in the picture I saw on your photos. I joined spark almost 2 years ago and have lost 26 lbs so far. I'm working hard to get the next 100 off before I kick the bucket. you are an inspiration. thanks.

The back brace should do wonders for him. My husband injured his back snowboarding 8 years ago and has had a lot of problems since then. I went to a sporting goods store and bought him a really good back brace and he uses it when he goes snowboarding or even working in the yard and it is awesome. Glad also that you got your pain managed. I agree with catlady about being careful though. I heard that too much tylenol can also damage your heart :( Good luck!

I'm glad you're feeling better. I can't imagine being in so much pain all the time, must make it pretty hard to function.

I can't do large amounts of Tylenol...had a very bad reaction to it when I was in my 20's and taking it for migraines. It DID damage my liver...just a small warning to be careful...

But YAY for you, no pain!!!!! That's fantastic!!!

An Easier Day? Maybe

Monday, September 29, 2008

Well after yesterday ............but well worth it the effort that is not the pain I endured aftereward when it all caught up with me!
today I have quite a bit I want ot accomplish too but will do it at my own pace and I don't have to push so hard either. I'm hoping ot have it finished this morning so that this afternoon I can kick back and relax I have to work tomorrow and I don't want to have to start my day off in pain!
I have a Dr appointment set for one thirty as well to find out just why she didn't subscribe anything fo rht inflammation and pain. Not that I want anything pharmacuetical anyway but..........still. And to find out just at what stage this arthiritis is at because the pain Ihave been dealing iwth and enduring has gotten to the point that my spine feels like it is numbing. It's like having a local anesthetic but I still feel the pain through it.
Not fun not fun at all!

Take care of yourself. Back pain is no fun. I get pains in one knee, my back and one heel. Funny but the more I walk the less my back hurts. The only thing is now my heel is so sore, I can't walk as much.
Just do what you can and take it slow. Hope the doctor helps.

What triggers a trigger point?

Sunday, September 28, 2008

It seems that more and more people are suffering from chronic muscle pain, fatigue and fibromyalgia these days yet the information that's available is extremely dated.
So I wanted to share with you an article about trigger points because while you may or may know, they are a major cause of all sorts of pain.
I hope you find this article informative and helpful. And feel free to forward it on to any family, friends or co-workers who you feel could also benefit - unless of course you don't like them :)
Ok, here's todays article...
Trigger Points: The Real Cause of Chronic Fatigue, Muscle Pain, Fibromyalgia and More
By Steven Hefferon, CMT, PTA, CPRS

Research by Drs. Janet Travell and David Simons, authors of "The Trigger Point Manual," has shown that trigger points are the primary cause of pain at least 75 percent of the time and are a factor in nearly every painful condition.

Trigger points, a type of muscle stiffness, are the result of tiny contraction knots that develop in muscle and tissue when an area of the body is injured or overworked.
Trigger points are something traditional doctors ignore, but they could be the one thing that has been overlooked in your case for years, if not decades.

A hallmark of trigger points is something called "referred" pain. This means that trigger points typically send their pain to some other place in the body, which is why conventional treatments for pain so often fail.
Many health care practitioners wrongly assume that the problem is located where the pain is and therefore fail to assess the body correctly to find the cause of your pain.

I'm going to give you some valuable information about trigger points that I hope will encourage you to consider the possibility that trigger points may be the missing link in your quest for relief.

What triggers a trigger point?
Trigger points can occur as a result of muscle trauma (from car accidents, falls, sports- and work-related injuries, etc.), muscle strain from repetitive movements at work or play, postural strain from standing or sitting improperly for long periods at the computer, emotional stress, anxiety, allergies, nutritional deficiencies, inflammation, and toxins in the environment. A single event can initiate a trigger point, and you can suffer the effects for the rest of your life if that trigger point is not addressed properly.

Why trigger points cause trouble
Your body's instinctive reaction to a harmful "event" is to protect itself. It does that by altering the way you move, sit, or stand, which puts abnormal stress on your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. This produces strength and flexibility imbalances in your muscles, as well as postural dysfunctions throughout your body.

If that were not bad enough, your blood flow can become restricted and when that happens both your peripheral and central nervous systems will start to send out those "referred" pain signals, making assessment and treatment even trickier. That's why some experts believe that trigger points are the beginning stage of fibromyalgia. Can things get even worse? Keep reading.

Here's why you may be suffering
To better illustrate the process, here's an example of how one trigger point in one muscle can cause back pain, sciatica, or a herniated disc. The most common place for a trigger point is in the muscle of the lower back called the quadratus lumborum (QL), which is located just above your hips.
Regardless of what kind of event sparks the trigger point, your QL will gradually become dysfunctional - that is, the QL will tighten and shorten. And as you limit its use, it will weaken.

As the QL becomes increasingly dysfunctional, it will alter the position of the pelvis. As the pelvis becomes dysfunctional, it will force the spine into an abnormal curvature that will put abnormal pressure on the disc.
Over time, the disc will begin to bulge. This situation will get progressively worse, affecting your overall quality of life. Depression often follows. All of this from a single event that occurred in one moment in time.

How do you know if you have trigger points?
Everyone has trigger points; the question is degree. If you have lingering pain, tightness, or restriction of certain movements, it is a good bet that you are experiencing the effects of a trigger point. Trigger points may produce symptoms as diverse as dizziness, earaches, sinusitis, nausea, heartburn, false heart pain, heart arrhythmia, genital pain, and numbness in the hands and feet.

Trigger points can bring on headaches, neck and jaw pain, low back pain, sciatica, tennis elbow, and carpal tunnel syndrome - you name it. They are the source of joint pain in the shoulder, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle that is often mistaken for arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, or ligament injury.
If you think this is overkill, I suggest you read the book "Why We Hurt: A Complete Physical & Spiritual Guide to Healing Your Chronic Pain," by Dr. Greg Fors, in which he explains precisely why so many different conditions are rooted in trigger points.

Here are a few more symptoms you should know about: If you have restless leg syndrome, you have TPs; if your teeth hurt, you have TPs; if your workouts have plateaued, you have TPs; if you have painful menses or irritable bowel syndrome, you have TPs.

How does Trigger Point Therapy work?
Simply rubbing the surface of the skin with a massage lotion, a vibrating massager - or using heat - will not change the tissue of a single trigger point. What it needs is sufficient deep sustained pressure to the "knotted-up area."
As you work the Trigger Point, your body will undergo soft tissue release, allowing for increased blood flow, a reduction in muscle spasm, and the break-up of scar tissue. It will also help remove any build-up of toxic metabolic waste.

Your body will also undergo a neurological release, reducing the pain signals to the brain and resetting your neuromuscular system to restore its proper function. In other words, everything will again work the way it should.h

How long does it take to get relief?
The length of time it takes to release a trigger point depends on several factors, one of which is how long you have had your trigger point. Other factors include the number of trigger points you have, how effective your current treatment is, and how consistently you can administer or receive treatment.

Even if you are lucky enough to find a clinician who can properly assess your condition - let alone treat trigger points - it can be time-consuming and costly to pay someone to completely release all the primary, latent, and myofascial trigger points you may have in your body.
You can try going to a massage therapist, but trigger points are very fickle; they need to be addressed daily using a technique that will apply the pinpoint pressure that is needed. Most likely it will be impractical to see a massage therapist frequently enough to get a trigger point to release.

An approach that makes sense
The basic idea is simple. First of all, a trigger point is only about the size of a mustard seed, which is one of the tiniest of all seeds. The idea is to put sustained pressure on the area for a set period of time on a regular basis. There are a number of techniques out there that you can employ to do this. The bottom line is that you need to take the initiative.

"There is no substitute for learning to control your own musculoskeletal pain," says Dr. Simons. "Treating myofascial trigger points yourself addresses the source of that kind of common pain and is not just a way of temporarily relieving it." In other words, you can fix your own trigger points better than anyone else - once and for all. Dr. Simons has it exactly right:
You must educate yourself about your condition and then apply what you've learned. This runs counter to today's conventional wisdom, which says that whenever we have a health issue, we should find someone to take care of the problem for us.

What I'm saying here is that you need to take responsibility for managing your own care. From time to time, of course, you may find you need help from medical professionals. But even so, the more you know, the better care you're going to receive. This is naturally going to require some time and effort on your part, but the payoff will be faster with far better results.

My experience agrees with this. I have been diagnosed with Myofascial Pain Syndrome (Chronic Myofascial Pain) and a physical therapist works with me once a week, but most of my treatment is done at home with the help of various books and tools.
