The Best Advice Sometimes Comes From Within

Monday, May 21, 2012

Keeping an open mind is the most important step when learning to listen to divine guidance. That still small voice.

Anyone who has asked for divine guidance knows that it can be challenging to trust it when it does come along. This is because divine guidance comes in many shapes and forms and it is sometimes hard to define it. We aren’t sure if we are meant to trust our thoughts, our feelings, our dreams, or our intuitions to be the carriers of divine wisdom. We are not sure if advice from a friend is the form in which the guidance has come, or if our own opinion is the source of wisdom we need to take seriously. The ability to sort all this out comes with trial and error, and the best way to learn to recognize divine guidance is to engage in the process of asking and receiving.

Sometimes when we ask for guidance, we already have a sense of what we want to hear. At such times, receiving guidance can be difficult, because we don’t want to hear anything that appears to be in opposition to our desire. Therefore, one of the most important qualities we need to cultivate if we are to receive guidance is an open mind. It helps to acknowledge what we want, and then to symbolically set it aside, making room for whatever wisdom comes through to us.

Cultivating an active relationship with the divine is the essential ingredient to being able to receive and trust guidance when it comes our way. We can make a daily practice of this by using a set of runes, a deck of cards, or a pendulum. We can also use our journals, developing a relationship with the divine through the written word. As we request and receive guidance, we might take notes on our experiences. Over time we will begin to recognize when we were able to hear correctly and when we were not. In this way, we will gradually attune ourselves to our particular relationship with the divine. Begin to trust the guidance you are receiving and soon you will find it flowing with ease.

---God broke our hearts---

Sunday, May 20, 2012

One's life is measured by those he leaves behind.

Gone but NOT Forgotten

A thousand times we've needed you
A thousand times we've cried
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died
A heart of gold stopped beating
two twinkling eyes closed to rest
God broke our hearts to prove he only took the best
never a day will go by that he'll not be
in our hearts and our souls

Lorne dad/boss was taken to a better life yesterday at 2:15 in the afternoon

Tools of Personal Empowerment

Friday, May 18, 2012

Every craftsman that I know has a toolbox of tools and a number of techniques that help bring inspiration into form. In the same way, throughout our lives, we discover our own life tools and techniques—the ways and means that have helped us create our lives up to this point. However there are times we get so caught up with our lives that we forget about the tools and skills we’ve acquired, and we wonder why we aren’t moving forward. At times like these, it might just be a matter of remembering what we already know, and rediscovering the tools we already have at our disposal.

In the process of becoming who we are and creating our lives, we have all gone through the experience of being inspired to do something and then finding the tools we needed to do it. If we look back, we may be able to remember that we used, for example, the tool of writing every day in order to clarify our intentions. We may also have used the tools of ritual, meditation, or visualization to make something happen. In addition, we may have been fueled by a new idea about how the universe works, which is what gave us the inspiration to use these tools.

In order for ideas to be powerful, they must be imbued with the energy of our engagement with them, and in order for tools to be effective they must be put to use. This sounds obvious, but often we fall into the habit of thinking we are engaging with ideas and using tools by virtue of the fact that we are reading about them, or listening to other people talk about them. In truth, using our tools is a very personal action, one we must take on behalf of ourselves. Like artists, we are each unique and no two of us will receive the same inspiration, nor will we bring it into form in the same two ways. To discover the truth of our own vision, we must take action by remembering our tools and putting them to use.

By The Grace of God

Friday, May 18, 2012

I should be feeling upbeat and eagerly anticipating what lies ahead. And I should be excited about the possibilities that are cropping up at work or in my personal life. I should be giving some thought to my goals and considering whether there are any new projects I could add to my to-do list that may inspire me tomorrow and in the future. I should be allowing myself to be creative and giving myself permission to be as free and extravagant with ideas as I would like. I should be thinking about choosing one item from my list that I can start working on tomorrow. And I should be creating a new schedule for when to attend to the other items on said list.

This naturally inspires me when I take the time to consider new goals and projects. Thinking about fresh new objectives awakens the mind and spirit. In this way we identify our desires and dreams and are excited to see how our actions can help us manifest those fantasies. By simply taking the time to think about the possibilities, we have taken the first crucial step. Nothing is impossible once we have imagined it, and nothing can stand in the way of our creating the lives we most want. Being positive, open, and creative every day as we consider future goals and projects, will find ourselves inspired to get to work on creating what we want in life.

But right this moment I'm afraid I must have other priorities ahead of these. That's not to say I'm putting myself in the back ground I'm not letting these other things effect my changes in lifestyle already made. No indeed. Those remain steadfast. It just means that I will have to continue with the immediate for the time being.
Life is happening around me right now that is effecting our future. Changes that are vital to our future. My Walt's boss/father lays in hospital in intensive care not expected to live out the week.
Two weeks ago he took a fall and was found unconscious. He was rushed to hospital and after examination they found blood vessels had burst in his brain. They stabilized him and were able to do surgery but only found two. Thought they'd gotten them all But then he started convulsing and they realized there had been a third. Can't do any further surgery because his blood is too thin, his immune system is unstable and his liver is gone from the alcoholism .
At the moment all we know is that they have been able to take him off of life support and he is breathing on his own and has a weak heart beat but responds to nothing. So it's a waiting game. If that man pulls out of this it will only be by the grace of god.

I can honestly say...

Thursday, May 17, 2012

I have come to the conclusion that maintaining vitality and enthusiasm for life is an important aspect to living well. But all the multi-tasking and constant rushing about I do on a daily basis can make it difficult to keep my energy up at times. When I think about it, with so many balls in the air and such high personal expectations, it is no wonder that people feel drained and exhausted at the end of each day.

Why do we push our selves beyond our limits to be rushed and harried on a daily basis, and then still complain of fatigue and a lack of energy? What I say, is that there is a way to keep our energy levels up, so that we can feel happier and more in control of our lives.

I like to think about energy like I think about money. If you continually withdraw money from your bank account without putting it back, eventually you will be overdrawn. In real life, the bank charges hefty fees for this practice. However, when it comes to our energy levels, the toll exacted on our body, mind and spirit is even heavier when our energy reserve is depleted. To continue with my money/energy analogy, if you haven't been putting money aside, you won't be able to pay your bills, and if you haven't been looking after your energy levels, you are likely to feel lifeless and listless.

So, how do you keep your energy up? First, think about what might be depleting you in the first place. It could be an emotional or physical drain. It could be a job, a specific person or an unpleasant task, too much technology, time constraints, negative people, etc. Whatever this drain may be, I suggest thinking of ways to eliminate it or cut way back on it.

Budgeting energy is one way to make things better, but we need to have regular energy coming in as well. To this end,we need to think about the things that make us happy and then I suggest doing some of these things regularly with the goal of building up our energy bank. I thoroughly enjoy this step, because people light up when they talk about the things they love. It is great relief to realize that while it is important to take time for ourselves, it is essential due to the multi-tasking and added pressures most of us experience in today's world.

I can honestly say that every friend who has made a concerted effort to reduce their negative energy drains, all the while building up positive energy doing things they love, has reported feeling better, having more energy, and enjoying life more fully. That is a powerful testimony to this practice. So, if you feel your energy bank is running low, try building it back up by making time to do things that fill you with joy and peace. My guess is that you'll be recharged in no time.
