Living my Best.

Thursday, June 05, 2014

I do the best I can
every single day.
Always, that's my goal
at work, at home, at play.

Reaping the best reward,
receiving my hard work's pay,
is having lots of energy
to play with my kids all day!

Can't wait for things to settle down

Sunday, May 11, 2014

Our opening weekend is about over. As openers go, the weather wasn't as bad as other years and the problems weren't too bad. The most crucial parts of our docking systems are in the lake, hooray!! One power outage late yesterday that lasted for an hour and 1/2, the 20 campsites that had frozen water lines thawed out which led us to find a broken water supply line that took a couple hours to repair. But the sun came out, the wind died down a little and it was a nice day couple of days! A few more crucial things to take care of before Memorial weekend and then things should settle down so I can get back to my 5K training.

I even got a free hour to repot some of my heirloom tomato plants that were ready for transplanting. It'll be a while before we can get them in the garden, it's just too cold at night still. But I'm loving watching my little seeds turn into beautiful organic food-producing plants!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

It's that time of year again

Saturday, April 26, 2014

The weather is improving, the lakes are opening up, the loons are back, and I am in crunch time for opening day of our resort. We open for the 2014 season in 13 days. Unfortunately this means my regularly scheduled workouts are taking a back seat to work. My evening workout time is currently being used up for sanding, and staining the new doors for our new lodge. I'm almost done the poly finish. Woo Hoo! Then I have to repaint the interior of our old display case. I decided to keep it in the new lodge as it is a piece of the resort's history. I still haven't found any the new furniture we need though. Since we got rid of all of the old stuff I suppose I really need to get on that. lol

Next week my MIL will be here to help with the kids so we can get the docks for our marinas in the lake. That's always a nice way to drop 5 pounds in a week. Then we get to turn on the water in the campground and test the lines for any winter breakage. And finally, we get the cabins cleaned and ready to go for our first guests.

Crunch time isn't just for ab workouts. lol Have a great weekend everybody!

Home Sweet Home

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Well we made it home safe and sound from our 2014 Texas Adventure. Our return home was delayed one day due to a frozen septic line at home. If it would have happened a day earlier we could have had a couple of extra days in Texas. But instead, Dan called and told us we had no working septic the night we got to our first hotel stay on our way home. Luckily he was able to find a steam guy who had long enough hoses to get near the blockage and unfreeze it. Since we didn't want to go home to no water use, we stayed on the road an extra day and stopped to visit my family in South Central Minnesota. We had a nice visit but were glad to finally get home to our own beds!

During our trip we went to the Houston Zoo and Children's Museum, we visited Children's Museums in 3 different states. I can highly recommend the Children's Discovery Center in Topeka Kansas and the Children's Museum in Brookings, SD. Very fun.

We walked, the kids biked, I got to run outside and I lost 6 pounds while on vacation. I guess that means I was doing something right!

I'm getting back to a regular schedule now but I did skip a workout last night. This current low pressure system has made the pain in my knees hit new heights. They do feel better today so I plan on getting a nice workout in tonight.

Have a great day!

Fun, tracking, and it followed me!

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

We spent another enjoyable day here in the lovely Houston area. Today we spent over 2 hours in the Children's Museum. How on earth do I track that?? I carried a back pack that wound up holding all the coats plus the diaper/pull up bag and all the other "Mom" things that I carry around. And I think I did about 8 flights of stairs total carrying a tired 2 year old for the last 1/2 hour. Uffdah, my arms are sore!

On a sadder note, the cold weather followed me and today I went for my run/walk outside in 39 degree weather. Blech! emoticon But at least I got it done (and I'm not at home in the -40 windchill grossness)! Now we're looking forward to a nice day to go to the zoo. When I get home I'm going to need a "staycation" to recover from our "vacation" emoticon

maybe see if there is a preset for light walking or light hiking? It wont be perfect If you had worn a pedometer you could track the steps.

Welcome to Houston! Today was definitely kind of dreary but I hope you enjoyed yourself at the Children's Museum. I don't have the slightest idea on how you would track the exercise but I'm sure you burned quite a few calories just from moving around! Weather looks like it should be lovely tomorrow, have fun at the zoo!
