Well, the New Year is here! Thanks to SP, this is the first year that I can remember that I've STARTED the year ahead of the game! My weight was actually DOWN from before the Holidays! I think I've finally "GOT IT"! I've learned to "choose my battles" (tempting foods).... and although I CAN have certain things, I cannot have exactly what I want, when I want it!
My main goal (resolution) for this year is to get to my goal weight. With the help of SP tools and support groups, I CAN DO IT!!! After all, it's only 15 more pounds!
I hope that each of you who read this will have a Happy, Prosperous and Healthy New Year!

I hope that each and every person here has a marvelous Thanksgiving. If you eat a bit too much, don't beat yourself up over it! Just count your blessings, and get back on track. ONE day won't destroy your efforts. Just make sure it's ONLY one day! I'm cooking the turkey (a 25 pounder!!!) with all the trimmings... and pies! All the family is coming over, and it should be a nice time. (Perhaps I'll burn off just a few of the calories getting ready and cleaning up!!!

    I also cooked and I think I did very well considering the Holiday! LOL Only took small portions of the things I really liked and stopped there. No deserts!

Back on Track!

Hello SparkFriends! After a "slow" week, I'm ready to get back on track! Last week I hurt my back, and exercise was VERY difficult. I managed to do some slow movement, but not enough to do a lot toward weight loss! Then last night I had my daughter and family over for dinner and pretty much had a good ol' Southern meal.... fried chicken, stewed tomatoes, rice (brown!), and field peas. I had made oatmeal cookies yesterday too. Well... I DID behave myself. I carefully measured everything I ate (heavy on the rice and tomatoes, light on everything else!!!). Even with the hurt back and the big meal last night, this morning's "weigh in" was pretty good. No loss, but no gain either. I'm still the same. That in itself is motivating! I'm ready to eat healthy and to step up the pace on the exercise! Hope that each and every one of you have a good week also!!! Stay motivated, and think HAPPY thoughts!!!

I wish I could think of something very clever to say... but I can't! It would be nice if the demon scales would show more loss, but as of today I've lost 4 pounds since joining Sparkpeople. That isn't dramatic, but I feel that the increased exercise and eating right will pay off in time. I can see a "firming up" in my clothes, and even my face. And I feel better. Which is actually the whole point, isn't it! I'm sticking with this. I love this site, and all the helpful tools... the "team support" and the recipes especially!

Second weigh in

This is my second "weigh in". I lost one pound this past week. Woopti-do. I've always been very slow to lose. Since joining Sparks, I've about TRIPLED my exercise, and I'm eating the low end of my calorie allowance.... and it's balanced. But I feel GREAT! As my daughter said, "Mom, THAT's the whole point!" I'm going to stick with this until I reach my goal!!!!
