First week of 2013 - progress so far

Sunday, January 06, 2013

The first week of the year hasn't been without drama. It started with my washing machine breaking down, a late night emergency vet run and the hundreds of dollars disappearing from my bank account as a result of both. However other than a late night munch one night on Doritos Nacho Cheese (my go to stress food) while trying to work out where I can plant a money tree in backyard, I still really stuck to my plan.

Highlights of my week:
Joined Spark Coach - love the daily plan and motivator. There were a couple of days where I didn't log on and on those days I didn't feel as in control or positive as I did on the days I did log on so I joined.
No fast food, not even coffee - I made a challenge with my husband to see how long we can go without eating fast good, and considering how stubborn we both are, we have a good chance it will be a long time!
Took my lunch to work every day - I even made my husband's lunch each day, except one crazy morning where instead of him eating something on the run he ran home to grab a sandwich and check on our dog.

What I love about my list is that I am not writing "I lost 3 pounds" (which I did :)) , however I am really changing the channel on that way of recognising success. I have been in that place where if I have been eating healthy, exercising and then step on the scale, it doesn't move and I give up. It's ridiculous and is the main reason that for years I have yo-yo'ed.

I joined the stress busting challenge and to complete my week one action steps I am going to plan my week and then break down day by day what I need to get done. I have a lot going on, I thrive on being busy but sometimes it leaves me overwhelmed and putting everyone and everything ahead of myself and my own health.

So today as part of my to do list is to sit down, take a few minutes to plan my week. I am excited by it, I am loving this start of new me. A week ago I was scared to fail, but I am beginning to feel the fear slowly disappear as I set up a strong fail-proof plan that I am COMMITTED to.

I would say wish me luck but I don't think it's needed. Wish me good vibes and positive energy to keep me going instead :)

Good vibes your way! I love Spark Coach, too. It is usually the first thing I do every morning. And you know what? They were there every day, even through the holidays. They are there and ready for me, even on days when I don't feel as ready. It is just different enough to keep me engaged. It is the perfect length, I feel. And I have never felt preached at, just included in a big 'ole map saying, "Come this way! We've been there and are now here!"

I know. I am a Spark Coach Geek... but there you have it.

Wasted time

Friday, January 04, 2013

My big time wasters are at night - I seem to spend a lot of time not really doing anything however I feel like I am starting to do a better job in planning more healthy things to do during that time. I am cooking dinner every night, and while it is cooking I prepare healthy snacks and lunch for the next day for my husband and I. I am pushing my husband to join me on a walk after dinner which can be a bit of a struggle. I have been working some long days lately and it is tough after eating to put on the sneakers and get out of the house but I always feel better after going!
I think I am going to plan some 'activities' rather than just leaving them to chance. I think planning my week will definitely make it feel better and leave me less overwhelmed!
