Overcoming cardio

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Does anyone else have an issue with cardio? I've never been able to do cardio for more than 10-15 minutes at a time, whether it be on the bike, treadmill, elliptical.. I just couldn't do it. Strength training has always been the easy part for me. Tonight for the first time, I did 35 minutes on the treadmill. I was messing around on my phone for the first 5 minutes. They passed so quickly. I put my phone down and the next 2 minutes seemed like forever! So I started watching my feet. 3 minutes passed. I looked at the time again. At this point I'm thinking "can I make 15?" I pick up my phone again.. Nothing new, no status updates, no texts.. Crickets! Ugh! I'm now at the 12 minute mark. PAUSE! I jump off real quick, grab a magazine and hop back on. Begin flipping thru.. Oh look, 35 minutes!! My conclusion: don't watch the clock!! I texted a pic of my time to my trainer, his response: tomorrow go for 40!

I refuse to jog run or walk without my google play music on my phone or ipod. Just make site you have a playlist with music you love. There's times i won't run because my batteries are drained. Sad i know.

Oh my goodness Olivia! I never thought I'd make it to 35 minutes! The magazine (or I guess any type of distraction) really does work. Im glad I found a way to get more cardio in. The 10-15 I was getting didn't feel like enough for me. :)

Yeah I have the same issue. I'm doing couch to 5K and it's killing me because I have to watch the time. If I could just go for it without clock-watching I bet it would be so much better!
I guess the answer is just keep a magazine on hand at all times : p
