Saturday at the Farmer's market

Saturday, July 14, 2012

Vegetables are fresher, fruit is sweeter and shoppers are more friendly at the local Farmer's Market. My husband and I sell honey at three Farmer's markets. I enjoy the friendly vendors and the shoppers who alert to the importance of shopping locally. Please support your local Farmer's market. You will always know where the food comes from and when it was picked. Before you know it the season will be over and you'll have to suffer through the little pink rocks the grocery stores call tomatoes through the Autumn and Winter.
Please respond if you have questions about Farmer's markets or if you'd like to start sharing your garden produce, home-made craft, bakery items, homemade jams, jellys, salsas or nuts. Though market rules vary from community to community, they are basically the same. Count yourself fortunate if you live in a neighborhood that has a Year Round Farmer's Market. Fresh produce and products 365. You're the lucky ones. Yumm

We do have a farmers market but I am not even sure when it is! I live in the country and when I go to town I never see it open. I love going with my daughter when I am visiting there.

Ready for the weekend.

Friday, November 11, 2011

The week has been uneventful. It's beem very nice. Sometimes I look for the difficulties so I can whine or complain about how difficult my life is. But this week has been nice. As I get ready for the weekend, I'm looking forward to watching my exercise and my nutrition. We don't have any parties, receptions or pot-luck suppers so I'll be able to control my calories. Hope your weekend is enjoyable. Blessings

Watching Biggest Loser

Tuesday, November 08, 2011

There's something great about eating nutritious meals, exercising, drinking my 8 glasses of water and then sitting down to watch Biggest Loser. Actually, I never let myself start the show until I've had my workout. So, tonight I recorded the first part, finishes a DVD workout and then I could tune in. It's great because now I can fast forward through the commercials.
Have a great day

I watched Biggest Loser as well! I am so excited about it now because for the past two weeks of watching it, I turned on my WII and did the free run twice! Last night I even used 3lb weights! I used to sit there and eat... (can you believe that?) Anyway, I was excited for Bonnie and I am so happy for her that she has Dolvett because she was definitely not feeling Anna!

I'm not losing weight, but....

Monday, November 07, 2011

I like seeing the scale numbers drop as much as the next person. They just aren't moving for me. But, yesterday two different people said I look good, have I lost weight. And, my clothes are much more comfortable. I know I'm eating much better and exercising very regularly. I'm sleeping better and generally feel better. So, I can wait for the weight to drop. Until then, thanks for the compliments.

Do the measuring tape as you're probably losing inches which is just as sweet. Remember, muscle weighs more tha fat! emoticon emoticon

color me surprised

Sunday, November 06, 2011

I just got back from a church reception. The usual food, chips, cookies mixed nuts and....wait for it....little smokies. Wow. What an eye opener when I went to track my nutrition just now. Not kidding, those things, just 5 links, are more calories than a slice of pepperoni pizza. And I had 2 servings. Frankly, I defy anyone just to eat 5 links. How can that be a legit serving size for the nutrition information. Well, live and learn. Makes me glad I had water instead of the fruit punch/7up/sherbert punch.

It is a life style change and didn't it feel good to know that you can identify these small, innocent looking food dangers. Good, going! emoticon

Live and learn indeed! I love lil smokies, haven't even thought of them lately! Some foods are just nutrition bombs. Bring a veggie tray next time ;)

It's amazing, isn't it??!! Just because they are tiny doesn't mean they don't pack a punch. It's why I love this calorie counter .. a real eye opener!
