Past the fifteen weeks mark and down over 10% of my original weight! I am feeling stronger and healthier and more positive every day. Why couldn't I have done this years ago? I have pondered why I feel able now to face a healthier life and it comes down to stress... Since retiring in Feb. I have gotten rid of the daily stress of my career and wanted to start a new chapter in my life healthier and stronger! Knee surgery last fall convinced me that I didn't want to live the rest of my life on the couch... there is too much to do and see!

1/31/11 - Four weeks down!

Today is the four week anniversary of my new healthy eating and exercising life! So far it has gone great, in fact surprisingly well - no major breaks, only one day my calories went to 1800 - most around 1300-1400. I believe the keys have been doing this with my husband, my recumbent exercise bike which lets me exercise without further damaging my knees and eating a lot of fiber and veggies! We both have not felt deprived so far. Our fav snack? Dark cocoa dusted almonds - healthy and GOOD! (and we count each one!)

The first three weeks...

are almost over! I have been surprised at how easy it has been so far - keep waiting to wake up ravenous or start drooling for a piece of chocolate ... Having to be inactive for five months after injuring my knee at a dog show then having surgery made me realize that I do NOT want to spend the rest of my life on the couch!
