Online shopping

Sunday, March 13, 2011

yes, i admit it.. I do love online shopping.
I recently purchase a pair of Aerosole boots from Shoebuy.com for $23 incl. free shipping, a Burts Bee's gift pack from Target, $9 pink watershoes from Land's End as well as 2 pair of flannel pants for $15 ea. And something else I ordered? Gaah! I can't even remember. Well, it will be a nice surprise when it shows up at work! Oh, yeah, I ordered some things from Lane Bryant.. i just remembered! I was so excited when I saw the dress/shirt on the markdown rack @ Lane Bryant but knew I could get a better deal online. Here's a picture but, please, keep in mind that i am short and this shirt/dress actually fits like a dress on me.. it is NOT super high like in the picture!
At any rate, for the dress, I purchases one in two sizes to make sure that one fit, and a few extra things ( t-shirt, etc) and still paid less than what it would have been in the store, with free shipping, and bonus points AND I get $$ back to spend in the store! Whoo! Deal.

Other than shopping, I did box up some of my clothes that are too small. Much more of that to do. It will be nice to walk into my closet and see only things that I can fit into..

Spring is coming.. I think. Looks like rain in the forecast this week. Spring always makes me want to rent the Oasis '(what;s the story) morning glory' CD from the library.. I think I will!

Met with our onsite nutritionist on ?Wed? this past week. She wants me to eat at scheduled times, etc. I'm ok with that. The only thing that I don't like is the request to eat as soon as i get up ( even if it is just a handful of cereal)
I'm meeting two new work friends @ the work gym at 6am tomorrow :)

I love online shopping, too. I even bought my car online.
That is a cute dress! It is nice to go into a closet where everything fits.
Good luck with the eating plan. Have fun at the gym in the morning.

Saying:"It's OK to fail, but never quit"- Is that true?

Sunday, February 20, 2011

I'm dropping out of the BLC 15 challenge. I don't keep up with the weekly requirements and don't focus on the exercise/nutrition piece. I've barely logged in to SP at all lately because I've been so busy. Yes, all excuses but it's real life!
The saying goes, "It's OK to fail, but never quit" and I guess that I don't agree with that! Although I wish that I'd been able to manage staying on the challenge, I am looking forward to backing off the guilt that I had for not being able to keep up with the requirements, for not having time to focus on this. Beating myself up and staying on the challenge isn't helpful for them or for myself. Good time to bow out, I say.
What do you think? Is the saying true? Should I have stuck in the challenge and failed? or is it ok to quit?

I think it really "depends." There are times when quitting is the wrong thing to do, IF the reason is just an excuse or something along those lines. But....if it's because something isn't a good fit for you and like Writergirlmel says it is more detrimental than beneficial, then quitting is a good thing. I've struggled with this myself - having the mindset that once it enter into something, I have to finish it no matter what. And then, if it proves less than beneficial, I get huge amounts of guilt about either not doing it or quitting. But as I get older I realize, that 1) we don't always make the right choice the first time around, and 2) life is way too short to waste on things that don't matter or don't contribute to the bigger picture. So....look at what wasn't working for you, tweak it a little so that it will, and move on!!!

I've never entirely agreed with that saying either. I live by the rule that if something is more detrimental than beneficial to your life, it's time to let it go. If struggling to keep up with the challenge was stressing you out, taking time away from your bigger goals, or even just plain old making you feel a little guilty for not being able to devote enough time/effort to it, I think you were justified in quitting. Some things are worth sticking out the rough patches for, and some aren't. Chalk the challenge up to a tool you were trying out to help you meet your overall goals. If you're still working toward those goals in other ways, you haven't quit or failed. You've just changed course!

In this case, I do think it's okay to quit. You're quitting the challenge not quitting on yourself. Those are two entirely different things. It's better to get out instead of being a hindrance to your BLC15 team.

Valentine S'more Bites

Monday, February 14, 2011

Painted my paws red for Valentines Day. Mainly because I NEVER do my nails, so, on my day off last week, BFF and I went to a training school ( 2 manicures for $11 plus tip). Well, I went all glitter on my nails that day.. 24 hours later, it had started to chip off of 1 nail. 48 hours later it looked like I was in a fight. So today, I took the glittery off and used a red-tinted nail hardener.

It's super windy tonight. I can't sleep.

I'm still having issues with my computer. I don't know if I need a replacement power cord, or if there is something "loose" in the connection into my laptop. Sigh. I have the same problem with my cellphone charger in the car.

Now, for a recipe that I saw for Valentine Smore Bites- www.crazydomestic.com/2011/02/every-

Red nail polish is my favorite but I never do my fingernails only my toes. Chemicals in the lab just take it right off.
We had a lot of wind last night, too.
I'd try the power cord first since it's the easiest fix.
Does your cellphone charger hook up to the cigarette lighter? Sometimes they just don't make a good connection. I have that problem with mine sometimes.
Those smore bites look really good.
Happy Valentine's Day!!
