Jan 4 -- MIGRAINE!!! I didn't need this

Though I got to bed by 11p (my goal) and I had a fantastic day yesterday with my nutritional goals, this morning was NOT a good start. Just before my husband got up for work at 2am, I woke with my entire right side throbbing! My head and neck felt like they were going to explode! Oh joy, a migraine....
I've had an Imitrix injection and 2 doses of ibuprofen so far. I suspect I'll be on meds most of the day. Watching my food will be critical today, even moreso than usual. I really could have done without this today. Praying it doesn't get worse.

Jan 3 -- Getting back into the routine

My oldest son went back to school this morning, but he only has 1/2 days until the 8th. My younger son will go back on the 8th when full days are in effect. It's amazing how quickly we have gotten off schedule over this break -- so much so that I forgot what time school was suppose to start this a.m.! I drove William to the high school to catch the Vocational School bus and no one was there. My first thought was that I had read the schedule wrong and that they didn't start back until tomorrow, but we sat for about 10 minutes before I gave up on the bus. We came back home and confirmed that today was the first day back so I assumed he had missed the bus (I usually drop him off at 15 after but it was around 18 after when we arrived this a.m.). I went ahead and drove him to Shelbyville and returned home at 8 a.m. only to find out that the bus leaving for Vacational School pulls out of the high school at 8:15a! I had dropped my son off almost an hour early!!!! DUH!!!!
I enjoyed a breakfast of whole-grain waffles and am getting ready to hit the treadmill. Afterwards, I plan on a nice soak in the tub until time to pick William back up at the high school. Right after that, I have to head in to the Pregnancy Care Center for my volunteer time. I love working at the center, whether I'm answering phones, processing donations, or counseling. I have one of the best bosses ever and she is an amazing spiritual mentor.
We're probably going to have soup for dinner (a warm bowl of goodness on a cold day!) so I'll need to get it on before I leave. Hopefully I'll find a recipe that doesn't involve 1000 calories in a single meal!!! I didn't realize how badly I had gotten away from proper portioning and planning until I logged my last couple of meals! It may never become a "habit" of eating well, but I'm working on doing better.

Jan 2 -- Busy, busy, busy

I wanted to start the year with a renewed commitment to my faith, so I set out for Prayer Circle at the local Baptist Church as well as Bible study at my home Christian Church. Unfortunately, both were cancelled (probably due to weather, holiday, and/or sickness). I love spending time with the women in both of these groups and it helps me maintain my commitment and involvement to both my old church and my current one, so I really hope that next week things come together.
I doubt I'll ever get the hang of eating most of my calories for breakfast; I just don't feel like eating when I first get up! I did manage to scarf down a cereal bar on my way to church this a.m. though, had 24 oz of water, and remembered my vitamin so those are all small victories for the morning.
My hubby got off work early today so he is going to run errands with me and the boys. I love spending the afternoons with him and getting the kids out of the house. We're headed to my mom's to drop off so things, to Kmart for new shoes for both the boys, to the doctor for med checks and vaccines (THAT will not be fun!!!), pharmacy, and who knows what else! I had hoped to hit the gym while we're in Greenwood but with everybody else in tow, that may be a challenge. At least I can put in some time on the treadmill when we get home.
Guess it's time to get off my backside and start accomplishing some of my many goals. Hope to make this a productive day!


Jan 1 -- New Year, new start

Like so many, I'm starting the new year with a goal to lose weight. I know I can do it but I've just got to commit.
There are many other things I need to commit to if I want my life to be all I am hoping for...better housekeeping, more prayer and Bible study, less computer time, etc. I'm not setting formal "resolutions" because I know those only last about 2 weeks for me. I AM committing to doing better this year than I did last year, and that's the best I can do right now.
