Today starts my 19th week with SP. I realize that my focus has changed. In the past, it's always been about the weight. Have to lose the weight. How much weight did I lose that week. How much more weight do I have to lose. How much I want to lose by a certain date.
This time I'm concentrating on getting fit, getting in shape. I know the weight will come off, that a lot has come off already. Don't get me wrong, I still want to see a lower number on the scale. But more than that I want to see a slim body with defined muscles. The scale has gone up a few times in the past 4 months but I never let it faze me. Because it's so NOT about the number on the scale.
When I joined SP I set my weight loss goal. Now I realize that I might not reach that number. Because it's about getting in shape and that's the important goal. I might be good weighing a little bit more than that magic number I picked, or I might need to weigh a little bit less. I'm not sure yet. But I'll know when I get there. Fit and healthy!

Amen sista! As you know I've had no choice but to make fitness my focus, as the lbs are so stubborn for me. And that's OK! The fat is melting, and the fat is the unhealthy part of the body~ (when there's too much of it) Funny thing, when I casually speak with thin family members or friends, most of them don't even know what they weigh! Seriously!! They go by how they fit into their clothes, & if the jeans get a tiny bit snug, they naturally cut back a bit, end of story. They don't jump up and down and yahoo over every pound lost or get sad if they gain, because they don't even know what they weigh anyhow. I LOVE that! I have this theory........that we who have become overweight, have lost touch with part of our intuition. Our body knows the truth. I intend to get back to my natural self, and trust my body again. I like your attitude... fit and healthy are the best solution... who knows how much your body wants to weigh...? It may have been thinner once apone a time, but that is not the same as fit. Lean and mean muscles will give the body a different look and weight... You have been a rockstar...

It's funny you blogged this today. I was just saying to my hubby that I think the number Spark gave me to shoot for is too high! I can see at least 15 more pounds in the mirror but they say I need to only lose 10. Good for you for having the correct focus!

I didn't even know I had that goal in the back of my head until reading your blog. Since I've found out that my health is a bit helter-skelter, I've focused on that without really realizing it. When I walk now, it's not to see what the scale says the next morning, it's to see how far I can go without feeling the tightness in my chest and knowing I need to slow down a bit. Each time, hopefully, will be a farther distance or faster. Thank you and I'm glad you got there too!! Report Inappropriate Comment |
