Working out

Thursday, August 26, 2010

So today I got up extra early because I had to be at work by 10. I walked outside with my DH and than did elliptical and weights. Now I almost always switch up the ellipticals I work on to take advantage of any small differences but today I went back to an old lifting routine on an old machine. It was nice. I really enjoyed the change.
Today I am meeting my DH for a late lunch at Q'dobas so I have a variety of snacks. I packed up some grape tomatoes and pepper strips which are esspecially nice for snacking because I just eat them a lot slower than I do fruits. I also have an ultra small apple to cut up after a bit and no vending machine money. It calls my name if I have money on hand.
All in all I am feeling like it's going to be a good day!

A new Day

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Today is the best day I have had food wise in a while now. That is a good thing.
I am about to go up and prepare some vegetables for supper. I put the stuffed peppers in the oven a few minutes ago. Should be a tasty and satisfying meal, healthy too. Then I will be off for a bike ride to round off my excercise for the day.
I am working on getting stuff settled back in my kitchen and some laundry today. Also froze some of the abundance of peppers my garden has provided. Wow it is pretty abundant right now. Grape tomatoes are ripening at a nice pace as well. I love those. Very nice for snacking.
Wish, hope and pray with me that today is the start of a new page in my journey. I need to lose a few of the pounds I have been packing on my body.

Great day! Glad you hung in there and are having it all come together. Your garden sounds wonderful; grape tomatoes are yummy. Congrats on that good eating. One good day often leads to another.

Back to the Routine of Life

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Hey I am back to what will be my normal existance routine for the next while. I do have plans for Labor Day weekend but otherwise I am back to what will be my new normal.
My chicks are all gone for now. My eldest should arrive in Accra, Ghana, West Africa in about 2-3 hours. That's a bit for me to get used to. Second DD is settled at college for the semester. Son is in CA at basic. UFF
Now I am on my new fall work schedule which is a change from the past and I will be working on adapting my excercise and eating plan to fit my new schedule.
I am feeling pretty good about moving forward. I am sure there will be bumps on my road but I am seriously hoping that my weight will now take care of itself as I am back on routine. It is not at a happy place these days.
How is your weight and routine shaping up?

At this point in time biking is truly my exercise of choice. I rode my sisters full suspension Gary Fisher hybrid this morning. Nice ride.
There is really something about biking that feels effortless and free and reminiscent of childhood, esp. coming down a hill without a helmet or hair tie. WEEEEEEEEE!~!!!!

I think I am still eating over my limit and I am once again not excercising as much as I should be this week. I did well yesterday and I should be good for today but my totals for the week are not what I would like them to be.

I am contemplating odd diet things at the moment from time to time. We'll see. Just now it's days of veganism. This is not as odd as some thoughts I have entertained. I am thinking it might be a good thing for me.

I need some changes to get my focus off food and eating.

If you think about food a lot, dwell on creative ways to make the foods you eat taste better and be healthier. YOU CAN DO IT!

Love that bike freedom and reminders of childhood! I do wear a helmet; does that make me a nerd?? Occasionally I take it off, though.

Congrats on 2 good days. Let the others go. You are now on a roll. You can do it!!

Vegan can be healthy, especially when you are tracking on SparkPeople to make sure you get enough protein and calcium. You do need to eat your grains and beans at the same meal or close enough to make sure you get all those essential amino acids (8 or 9 of them I think) processed together.

I can't help but wonder what other things you are considering. I've done some pretty wild eating plans in my life and suffered the consequences. Be careful.

Stressed is desserts spelled backwards. We probably already know that.
I think no one should be dealing with kitchen remodeling and sending her son to Marine boot camp and her daughter 1 to Ghana for a year and daughter 2 back to college all at the same time. It is not a good plan. It's just not. So I have been a little stressed and eaten a few too many desserts and salty snacks.
One week from today I hope I will be home, in an empty house, that has become calm, and has a complete kitchen with lights and paint on the ceiling. I am however not holding my breath. I think they have to scrape and retexture the ceiling and that it will be a large mess. Than it will probably need 3 coats of paint and than the lights can be installed. For a relatively small project this has certainly taken on a life of it's own.
Today I got a great workout in again. I am still enjoying exercise and it does relieve stress to a degree. I am going to get through this time and back on track eventually.

Life will always be there to throw curves at us. It's how we 'choose' to handle them that counts. Sounds like you have a handle on it.

I will be praying for you. Remember God is with you and He doesn't give us any more than we can handle and there is always a way of escape. Just trust Him and not to worry. It's easier sad than done. Last Aug I had a lot of stress with a new roof, 2nd dd to college and my Dad having some physical problems. But God saw us through. Just keep listening to Him and NOT Satan. Satan is enjoying seeing you being stressed so please don't give in. You can do it and all will work out in God's own time.
Trust Him!!

Hang in there Lori...kitchens do get finished (I live in hope for my dining room too!) and although all your children have chosen (it seems) the same moment to fly out of the nest...I know it was all in the plan of God and He will certainly see you through.

I for one did not know that interesting fact...thanks for sharing!!LOL!!

Maybe you should just move to the gym! Cannot believe that they are still working on the kitchen. Empty nest is very nice, however! You will like it.
