Finally... Wetsuit...

Tuesday, September 09, 2008

Finally... I think I got the right size and style of wetsuit. Ended up costing me a bit more than originally planned, but whatchagonnado???

I am going up to East Canyon Reservoir to test it out today after school. I'll let you know how it goes, maybe even take a picture or two....

FUN!!! I love new gear. I'm all excited for my Road ID to come in (yes, I've been training solo for years without one, bad me!) but a wetsuit is WAY more fun! I can't wait to hear how wonderful it is!

Heart Walk / Run

Sunday, September 07, 2008

I had a great time at the Utah Heart Association Walk / Run. I woke my son up and brought him along. They were supposed to do a kids 1 mile run, but they decided that was too long. So... he did a little "kid's dash". It was fun!

I did the 5K. It was a lot of fun too. I was hoping to go under 24 minutes, but I went about 24:30. I don't know my official time. I am just NOT a sprinter. I did get the Gold medal for my age group. It was even ages 30-39. So... that was fun!!!

My daughter had an incredible soccer game yesterday. She made 2 absolutely phenomenal saves.

Then... later we went to the U of U football game. They won! My son was so tired though from getting up early to go to the run, he was GRUMPY!

Gyah, she wins gold, and yet she whines about not running fast enough;-)

It's been so long since I've run a 5K in under 30 minutes, I wouldn't know what to do with myself at 24:30 - You go, girl. That's awesome.

I'm with ELFITZPA - 5Ks are torture. At least if I double the distance (or then some) it gives me a fighting chance!:)

Bike Trainer

Sunday, August 31, 2008

This is NOT a picture of my bike or house, but this IS a picture of a similar bike trainer I used this morning.

My husband has been using this indoor trainer, and I decided to try it out with my bike this AM. I really liked it. It's like doing a spinning class right at home. I worked my butt off. It definitely gets boring quickly though, and it is not as nice as going outside for a ride, but I am excited to use it a lot over the winter.

Wetsuit update:

OK... I ordered what I thought was a very similar wetsuit to the one I tried on in the store. Well... it's NOT. It's WAY, WAY, WAY too SMALL. Grrrr!!! So... that really sucks.

I decided to just order the one that I tried on in the store. I still got it on E~Bay for cheaper than what I would have paid in the store. I learned many lessons from this experience too.

Eating... I had 6 really healthy eating days, then bombed (BOOM) yesterday. I am desperately trying to stay on track today.

I am thinking about getting a bike trainer since I love to bike ride. Is it difficult to put together?

My bike trainer is ridiculously boring. Where did you buy your wetsuit? I love my Jane Tri suit! www.leisurepro.com

My husband gets annoyed at me because I park my bike trainer right in front of the bigscreen during the winter. It's definitely improved my endurance and my bike confidence, though I miss the wind in my hair and the bugs in my teeth:)

Triathlete Story

I read this story this morning and my heart broke. Especially the last sentences about her twin lying next to her as she died. It simply took my breath away.

I hope though... that I can live LIFE and when I die... Die knowing I was able to do things I really LOVED with those I LOVE surrounding me knowing my love for them.

Reading stories about people who died while doing something they loved reminds me to live in the moment and not be caught blindsided by the uncertainty of tomorrow.
